Identified! PA - Towamencin Twp, Male skeletal w/handgun, Jan'13 - William Stilson

Human remains were found by construction workers as they wroked on the extended highway in Montgomery County.

No sex or race is mentioned. The person was wearing Guess jeans, Ralph Lauren glasses and had extensive dental work as well as prior chest surgery.

Here's some additional info:

The remains appear to be of a male, a handgun was found nearby, and it appears that they may have been in the wooded area for about a year, according to state police Lt. Paul Gustaitis.

The person appears to have been wearing Guess jeans, a Ralph Lauren shirt, had extensive dental work and a heart condition that appeared to have required chest surgery, according to state police.

A construction worker who was working on the Pennsylvania Turnpike discovered the remains, which appear to be human, Dickinson said, west of the Holiday Inn in the 1700 block of Sumneytown Pike.

He had many tattoos though and they didn't mention that.

Also, the Guess jeans made me think this had to be from the late 70's early 80's, but I guess not.

Only missing since July 2012, so probably not long enough. But Duane did have a scar from heart surgery.

If the body had been there for a year, it's possible the tattoos were so difficult to see they won't find them until autopsy.

The clothing makes me picture somebody who was in his twenties in the 80's. So fiftyish now.

This MP was last seen wearing a "button-down polo shirt" which sounds like a Ralph Lauren style, plus he wore Timberland Boots and drove a BMW which IMHO fit a classy image that would match the UID's Ralph Lauren shirt. Then again, the investigator in Gracelin's article mentioned that this man was found near interstates and hotels, so they're considering the idea he could be from outside the area.

Maybe it's just me, but it makes me sad his family donated his remains to the coroner instead of claiming them. What does a coroner do with donated remains?

Usually the remains would be used for medical or educational purposes, which could be anything from saving part of the bones to illustrate the gunshot wound to cleaning and preparing the skeleton for anatomy classes. It's quite likely to have been something he had expressed an interest in in the past. If he had a will, it might be mentioned there.

Skeletal Remains ID'd as Missing Artist

The mystery to the whereabouts of renowned Rockport, Mass. artist William H. Stilson has been solved.

The Montgomery County Coroner's Office last year identified Stilson as the skeletal remains found by a construction worker along the Pennsylvania Turnpike on the morning of Jan. 11, 2013 in a wooded area in Kulpsville, near the Lansdale interchange of the Pennsylvania Turnpike's northeast extension.
