Details of Disappearance
Mowery was last seen in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania on October 30, 2017. He left his residence in the 50 block of Washington Avenue and was later sighted at the Columbia Mall, where he walked several days a week. He bought a pair of glasses at the mall shortly before noon.

Mowery was supposed to meet his nephew for breakfast the next day, but never showed up. He has never been heard from again. His car, a red 2012 Chevrolet Cobalt with Pennsylvania license plates, was found abandoned just after midnight on November 3, parked at a boat launch along River Road in Danville, Pennsylvania.

According to Mowery's family, he is personable, loves animals and doesn't have any enemies. He's described as an active person who leaves the house regularly, but his family doesn't know why he might have gone to the boat launch where his car was found. His case remains unsolved.

Body Found Last Year Identified as Missing Man

According to the Northumberland County coroner, a badly decomposed body was found on Zeigler Island in the Susquehanna River near Dalmatia in June of 2018. DNA test results have just confirmed that the body belonged to Wayne Mowery, 78, of Bloomsburg.

Mowery was last seen on October 30, 2017. When he didn't show up to a routine breakfast with his nephew the next day, the family filed a missing persons report.

Mowery’s car was found at the Danville boat launch in Mahoning Township on November 3 of that year. His family sees no reason why he would have been there.

The cause of his death was listed as drowning. No foul play is suspected.

Missing Pa. man’s body was in morgue more than a year before he was ID’d
