Today I found something interesting. Did they rule out Melissa Highsmith for our FLEK? Well this is related to that. In regards to the babysitter who took Melissa, " Ruth Johnson", I ran across a newspaper article online today listing a missing person by the name of
"Shirley Banning" from Oklahoma. Her picture in my opinion looks like the drawing of Ruth.

Deborah Hohenshilt was discussed at some point and didn't see her name listed. I believe she was thought not to match because of eye color. Eye color is listed as being brown, and she was 12 when missing, so height could be variable.
Look at left ear (sticks out further than right) and compare the hair wisps to the Idaho ID of FLEK, and something about the expression also. I think the Idaho ID also looks like she is tilting her head back to try to keep her eyes open during the flash also...

I just read her story for the first time today so I don't know anything to even qualify to answer, but to me, that looks very much like her. I asked my son as well and he agrees!

Every female that *I* have known, including my best friend who is 5'10" and my husband's daughter who is also 5'10" were "at height" by our early teens. I don't know any girls who grew significantly after 15 or 16 and most girls were "at height" by 16. I doubt that a woman who is the average height for females in her teens would sprout up to 5'10" at 18. This girl doesn't have the "teeth clenched" smile, either. My mom supposedly has hazel eyes but they have always looked brown to me.

Just a thought for people trying to find matching cases. If there is such a thing as a missing person case for Jane Doe, I don't think we can make the assumption that it has to be from before 1988.
There doesn't seem to be any evidence she actually lived as LEK prior to fall 1990, when she enrolled in college. If this was a convenience identity change (for example to erase a criminal record so that she could attend college or apply for higher income jobs), she could have arranged for her new identity long before she actually assumed it in her daily life. She may have simply kept her new papers in reserve for when the time would have been right. For example, nothing would have stopped her from taking a GED test as LEK, while still working as a waitress called Mary Jones, saving money for her planned new life.
I'm not saying it happened that way, but at this point we can't prove that she stopped living her old life the moment she received her blank slate identity.

The girl above should definitely be added to our list. Are there any other pics of her online? The timeline and stats fit pretty perfectly. She looks like her just about as much as any of the other submitted missing women I have seen! If anyone has Canadian access on ancestry, perhaps we can find yearbook pics?
