Forensic question, maybe Peter Brendt knows the answer.

Is there anyway science can tell how long a body has been exposed to the elements (decomposing). I would assume weather conditions would have a big effect, but are there time frame parameters.

For example based on the condition of this bone, and the lack of this tissue, it has been here two months?

Is this possible with any degree of accuracy?

There was one time when in one of my photos I even thought that I found a white cross marking a grave in the middle of the marsh.

It's all computer-generated. It took me some time but I learned. Take any computer photo and keep increasing the magnification. Unlike photos that are printed in ink, the pixels aren't perfect circles or squares. I always figured they would be but I was wrong. There is some sort of computer-generated distortion that occurs when we zoom-in on photos too much. That's all you are looking at. No badger or backpack. At one point it was thought to be a car muffler on top of her remains. Nothing like that. Also, from the direct reports we know that only hair and skeletal remains were found. Nothing more.

The day after her disappearance, Gilbert's mother says she received a strange phone call from a doctor who lives nearby, saying Shannan had been in his house the day she disappeared.

"He called me on the phone. He said he had a halfway house and that Shannon was there," she explained. "She wanted to be off the streets and he was trying to help her."

When we asked [redacted] about the story, he said he didn't say Shannon was in his house.

"Of course not. That's ridiculous," he said.

[redacted] is a former head of Suffolk County Emergency Medical Services and a former police surgeon who lives in the area where Gilbert was last seen, after visiting with a client.

[redacted] denies ever meeting Shannan Gilbert, but he says police have interviewed him about the case two or three times. He wouldn't say what about.​

You have posted a link to something more than what you even realize. You have posted a link to the reason why 4/12/10 was the very first time we have ever heard CPH's name. On that video is footage of the reporter sitting in his car on the phone with MG. It's the first time we ever heard the story about CPH being accused of saying that he treated SG.

Something I noticed. CPH can barley stand up straight in the video (using the door and door frame for support). You can see he has some sort of problem with his legs.

100% you are correct: CPH has a prosthetic leg. Another gaping hole in the lawsuit claim against CPH. There is a video that JR filmed on 5/1/12 of him retracing his footsteps through the marsh from CPH's home, walking past where SG's belongings were found and navigating using a handheld gps to where her remains were found. The video is meant to emphasize how difficult the terrain is to navigate on foot yet in his argument is that a one-legged man in his fifties did it while dragging or carrying SG's 100+ pound body.

One more thing to remember: Those houses, on the oceanside, sit lower than the field behind them. If flooding is/was a regular occurrence then who could afford to or would want to live next to such a threat?

Flooding is a regular occurrence in many places. Ask the people who live on the Outer Banks on NC anytime there is any kind is storm surge their property gets flooded. That's why they build their houses on stilts. Also is it a common thing for a buyer to disclose potential flooding situations? I've never met one that has been so inclined.

Hi. Those are not 4x4 trails. This area is very much off-limits to ATVs, Quads, snowmobiles, etc... There is zero tolerance by the residents too. Riding any type of vehicle in that marsh is suicidal anyway since there are so many deep vector canals, areas that are like quicksand and very deep mucky type of mud. The fresh trails that you see in photos were cut after the search for SG started. There were some foot trails in there for bird watching and some really old deer trails that were mostly overgrown.

Why, prior to 4/12/11, did she tell everyone that if/when her daughter is found, it won't be anywhere near Oak Beach/Ocean Parkway?

Its possible. We are not privy to everthing. Including who LE might consider a suspect. They are allowed to say so and so is not a suspect if they are.

That is all twisting of the facts to make them appear that CPH was questioned many times because of their suspicion. There is zero proof to back up those assumptions because LE never stated any exact number of times that they questioned anyone. It was CPH, by his own admission, who stated that police questioned him "two or three times". At the time he made that statement, the police had been in his neighborhood two or three times questioning many residents.

Just because he was questioned two or three times does not = he was questioned because they had a good reason to question him.

Then again, he did live only a few houses away from where SG was last seen running and he was at the time an elected member of the community leadership and he is a former member of LE. So in a sense, LE had plenty of good reasons to ask CPH for his assistance. Being that CPH enjoyed sticking his nose in the business of others and he seems to enjoy the spotlight (as another member here pointed out), it is logical to accept that he would go seeking to help the police investigators every time he saw them canvassing the community that he was a leader of. It's a very logical explanation as to why he claimed he was questioned "two or three times".

Amazing how assumptions are twisted in a way to make them appear like facts isn't it?
