Vernon Gebert, retired Commander for the NYPD said during a48 hour interview that SG profile and victimololy is the same as the other 4 girls found on OP.He said its highly unusual that LE would say she drowned. He also said the fact her jeans, phone, and purse were found in one place and her body found in another is consistant with the body being dumped and getting rid of evidence.

Never read this one before;

A Suffolk County investigator who reviewed a recording of Gilbert’s 911 call has described her as “intoxicated” and unable to say where she was.

Brewer has denied using drugs with Gilbert, and police did not find any in his home. Gilbert’s waterlogged pocketbook and jeans were being dried last week before a more thorough examination could be completed.

Pak told The Daily he believes she was high the night she went missing because he’d seen her become disoriented after taking drugs with clients before.

“She liked ecstasy and weed,” Pak said. “If it was a party customer, they’d mostly want to do coke with her, but she didn’t really like coke, because of her behavior. She’d only do it to extend the time with a customer.” He added that Gilbert told him she wanted to get as much money as possible from the long trip to Oak Beach.

Pak described an earlier incident in which she’d gotten high with a Manhattan man who had offered to pay her for two extra hours.

“She came out without getting paid,” he said. “She came out a different exit and couldn’t tell me where she was.”
Some of Gilbert’s friends and family members have described her as bipolar, as well as a drug user and heavy drinker.

with a grain of salt: (interesting though that they refer a couple of times to the call in that SG said it was "the john" trying to kill her and who she was fleeing from---different from every other post that we read referring to "they are trying to kill me"--writer's interpretation of the story here?)

(snipped from article)

--Shannan apparently told the operator that she feared for her life and was trying to escape from a john.

Gilbert's mother, Mari Gilbert, told the New York Post that her daughter was screaming the john's name on the 911 tape, saying that he was trying to kill her, and asking for help.----

I think I recall "they" coming into play after MG hired attorney Robin SAX, and the attorney started using "they", and then it was in every article

BUT Det.Stephan wrote to Newsday he heard the tape and found no indications of fear or hysteria in SG's voice

At least he actually heard the tape. Unlike MG, JR, or anyone else outside LE.

The ME said the opposite of what the Det. wrote in his letter to newsday was true. In fact, since when do detectives send letters off to newspapers?

That's funny, because according to Coletti, who actually saw and spoke to Shannan, she certainly seemed hysterical.

And, she seemed hysterical to the police who responded to the 911 call (which I assume means that they heard the call).

Before she fled Brewer’s house, she called 911. Police said she appeared to be “disoriented and confused and not rational and paranoid.”

Detective Stephan? Never heard of him. If he DID indeed hear the 911 call, I'd say his interpretation of it's content sure doesn't match the interpretation of other witnesses.

Okay so I've been reading new things tonight I haven't read before. I've ran across a few and if anyone one has answers that would be awesome.

"Key forensic clues can survive in bones and teeth even over the 19 months the remains -- if they are Shannan Gilbert's -- would have been exposed to the elements, said Michael Baden, a former New York City medical examiner."

"Police theorize Gilbert drowned in a wetland thicket. Baden said water contains diatoms, a type of phytoplankton that if inhaled, can later be detected in bone marrow."

"If they are present and they match what's found in the water, that will indicate she was alive and breathing when she went into the water,"

Does anyone know if they did or didn't find diatoms in her bone marrow? Or if they even said at all? Is this maybe what Mari Gilbert is wanting and waiting for the 2nd autopsy for? I guess I've never heard them rule that she did drown by this kind of method. Just pretty much saying before test could even come back that she drown.

If not kinda makes me want to help Mari in some way get money up to help get her another autopsy done on Shannon.
