Derek Whisenand, 27. is wanted in a Texas killing, and is the subject of a Canada-wide arrest warrant. (RCMP)
"A man accused of murder in Texas is the subject of a Canada-wide warrant after illegally crossing the border into Manitoba late last month, say RCMP.

Derek Whisenand, 27, had been evading police in the United States, and sometime during the week of June 24, he snuck into Manitoba near Haskett, just north of Walhalla, N.D., the Mounties said.

They believe he then travelled to Winnipeg and may now have moved on to Eastern Canada.

Paul Podhradsky, chief deputy of the Cavalier County Sheriff's Department in North Dakota, said Whisenand's vehicle was found in the state about three kilometres from the Canadian border.

"We were able to locate tracks around his vehicle and we were able to see that he walked across the border," Podhradsky said. "It is believed he was then picked up by an individual, who ended up giving him a ride to Winnipeg."

Warning issued over U.S. murder suspect believed to have crossed border into Manitoba
RCMP believe he illegally crossed the Canadian border south of Winkler, near Haskett, Man. sometime during the week of June 24.

From there, they believe he travelled to Winnipeg and possibly eastern Canada.

Whisenand is six feet tall, about 230 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. He was last seen with a black goatee, according to RCMP.

He is travelling with a large mixed-breed dog, possibly a mix of a German shepherd and a pitbull or boxer.

Manitoba RCMP is warning the public not to approach the suspect as he may be armed and is considered dangerous.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or the RCMP Integrated Border Enforcement Team at 204-324-9177 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

I can't find any details about his murder charge in Texas. When did the alleged crime occur? Who is he accused of murdering?

RCMP receive tips on Texas murder suspect in connection with northern B.C. double homicide

"B.C. RCMP say they have received “a number of tips” regarding a person of interest in the case of two tourists killed in northern British Columbia.

RCMP say investigators are aware of Derek Whisenand, a Texas man who crossed the border into Manitoba sometime around June 24."

On Tuesday, B.C. RCMP Sgt. Janelle Shoihet said police “have received a number of tips in relation to Whisenand.”

“I have passed that information onto investigators but do not have a sense of whether or not they are looking in relation to the tragedies in northern B.C.,” she said."

I am assuming that DW is still a fugitive in Manitoba or other parts of Canada. I have not seen any recent MSM articles to suggest otherwise. The RCMP has it hands full trying to catch DW and Kam and Bryer.

Around 8 a.m. on June 26, Whisenand was recorded on the surveillance video at the Winkler. Later that morning, he made his way 40 kilometres north to the town of Carman.

From there, Whisenand got a ride into Winnipeg, where he was dropped off around 3:30 p.m. at Junior's restaurant on St. Mary's Road and Fermor Avenue. That is the last confirmed sighting.

I am assuming the DW is still on the run in Mantoba or other places in Canada.
