Retrial for Sentencing of Jodi Arias - 12/19-1/5 Break

After yesterday's BS...I could not stop thinking about her brief time representing herself.

What would she have been allowed to have access to during this time?

Not sure what she would have had access to, but what is concerning is that she is extremely sneaky, conniving and dangerous !

JMO but I have no doubt that she, and/or someone helping her when she was representing herself, tampered with the computer/hard drive !

I just hope that this computer matter can resolved in favor of Juan ... no way did Juan and/or the state do anything wrong ... but you can bet your boots CMJA and her team have their paw-prints all over that fiasco !

Umm. Depends on what you mean by "offering that hypothesis." He can't say....she slashed his tires, or even, it's reasonable to assume she slashed his tires, no matter how many doors the DT opened.

He could possibly ask a witness, say Lisa (theoretically, as she isn't on his witness list), who do you believe slashed his tires ? Though I imagine Nurmi would be objecting like crazy right about then....

That makes perfect sense - not that she wrote it from scratch, but that she rewrote her original one to suit her later needs.

With any luck, journal tampering is why JM has a forensic document expert on his witness list. Wouldn't that be special.

If she did rewrite her journal , its even more interesting what's not there....pedophilia and abuse. Another indication , rewrite or not, that she hadn't come up with those lies yet.

Over the long holiday break, let's hope the jury just eliminates the nonsense they heard in 2014 and focuses on the prosecution case.

If I was on this jury, I think I'd be asking why all this "stuff" is being testified to...as a juror, I would have already been told I must accept the guilty verdict, that she murdered Travis (3x over)...and that this is the sentencing phase, where I am to focus on mitigating factors. I think I'd want the DT to tie it up in the end and explain to me why all this cr*# is a mitigating factor, because it's not really clear right now. At least I hope that's how the jurors are viewing it, LOL. Fingers crossed!

Seriously...I wonder how many are able to keep focus on what truly is the "assignment" ahead of them. It's got to be difficult not to get bogged down in the titilating blather, I'm sure. I hope with this long break, they are able to think about what this is really about, a gruesome murder of Travis.

:seeya: Good morning all. Even though my brain is still frazzled from this week's testi-agony, I couldn't help but hope that today is still a scheduled court administration Friday, and perhaps, just perhaps, the testimony might be released. I'm going to pop in and out to check.

Per the suspicious journals, my hinky metre went off the first time I saw excerpts on Nancy Grace. Remember those never ending nightly 'bombshell' episodes on JA? I've always felt that on her return to Cal. she took her original 2008 journal and edited it into a new one, to be read just in case she was ever caught. I don't think she had thoughts then of DV or pedo, but was intent on making Travis appear 'mean', both for spite, and to make it appear that she had broken away from him for good. Maybe great chunks were considered too prejudicial to be introduced by Juan, but IIRC we never heard mention of entries when she first met Travis; nor of her preparing for the 'trip'. Both of those times would have been very important for her to note.

Also, last thread...there were photos I had never seen. What was interesting was the time inbetween photos. I think she might have used that stun gun. There must be a way to use it in the rain.

I think the in-court reading of Jodi's manifesto may not have had the impact the defense squad hoped for. It shows the type of girl everyone knows, everyone avoids, and us moms hope our sons steer clear of. On that jury are men who have exes, women who have had their hearts broken and every juror who knows of a "Jodi". Her "I am awesome, love me Travis love me now or else" book is not putting a good picture of how she was in their heads.

Sometimes I wish I never started following this trial. I've become an angry person and have horrible ulcers after all of this. lol seriously. I love that theres a place to come to though and read the thoughts I have in someone elses words. If that makes sense. :thinking:

I would think he could ask Dr G something hypothetical like: "You testified about how generous JA was in offering to help him out financially after the multiple tire-slashings. Couldn't it be the case that all this was part of her manipulating him? Slash his tires and then offer to help him out? You saw from a later comment that he thought she did it, right?" IIRC you have a lot more room to ask expert witnesses hypothetical questions.

What he could NOT do is ask any witness something like: "Why do you think she slashed his tires?" That assumes it's a fact that she did it, but it's unprovable.

Interesting statement to the detective: Ummm, if you want my journals it documents the entire time Starting from when I moved to Arizona up until 2 or 3 days ago. she then asked if they got all 3 of them.

Being the good Mormon that she states herself to be why did she wait until she moved to Arizona to start her journals? Or did she just destroy the ones before? You know, the how to snare Travis as her husband?

I can see Juan asking him something like, "You know Jodi was accused of slashing these tires, aren't you?" At which point Juan would put up the text where Travis accuses her, Wilmot objects, there's a sidebar, hilarity ensues.

Just popping in to finish off yesterday's posts. I was busy baking sweet breads (lemon poppy, sour-cream chocolate, and cranberry walnut) to give to my neighbors. I just finished the last batch and am getting ready to wrap, label, put on plates with a holiday dish towel. Some clear wrap and a nice bow and I'm ready to load up and deliver them.

All this baking and dish-washing has reminded me about how fortunate I am and how miserable Jodi's life must be right now.

No Christmas presents, no comfy bed to sleep in, and probably no visitors. All her family will be away for the break and her attorneys are either celebrating with their families and forgetting about her for a while, or they are feverishly working on their so-far-not-so-mitigating mitigation.

For JA, there will be no tree to sleep under/behind. She has no hope of finding her "true love" she was looking for in all the wrong places.

There will be no festive dinner. Joe's gone vegetarian. Perhaps they'll have soy-based ham casserole and faux nog, aka: skim milk. Some organization might donate cookies for the inmates as a treat. She won't be baking any to show how much she enjoys the domestic life.

Come to think of it, there's no more domestic life. It will be a life in prison.

Since the DT has still not produced the computer evidence as ordered by JSS, I think you may have nailed the reason. It seems the the procedures used by the prosecution were in line with the protocol established at that time, and that whatever happened on the day in question was done at the request of the DT in place at that time. IMO, the DT did not prove that the prosecution intentionally destroyed any evidence on the computer in question. I am disappointed, but not surprised, that JSS has allowed this specious argument to drag on, and that she has not imposed any sanctions on the DT for willfully disobeying her orders.

I guess the DT could try make the case that if some files that might have held child *advertiser censored* data were deleted, then more files with relevant information could also have been deleted. Therefore, the evidence was tainted and the trial should never have happened. And a self-confessed murderer should be freed to pick up where she was forced to leave off--quite possibly on her way to the Hughes family.

(IMO, there is no way to prove that IF child *advertiser censored* files were found on the computer, that they were put there by Travis. More likely JA or one of her avatars would have done it. Why else would she be so sure that there were files there unless she had first hand knowledge? Why would this DT be so sure they had been on the computer before the date in question if someone aligned with their team had not been certain that there had been such files?)

Anyway, I really hope Santa brings JSS a nice new backbone next week!!

"Would it surprise you to learn that when TA's tires were slashed he was at LA's home and hers were slashed as well and no other person in the city of Mesa reported a tire slashing that evening or any other subsequent evening?"

The link I posted last night of JVM speaking to Beth K. Beth said that Taylor S contacted her and told her TA had him remove *advertiser censored* in 07 and it was a former roommate that put it on TAs computer. He didn't say who roommate was but could be the guy who TA made be move out.
