From Juan's closing argument

Spiderman underwear
And you have it there for your review, this February 14th, 2007 email. And one of the things that it doesn’t talk about is the package that she supposedly received in the mail that day. Take a look at the time. It’s around 4:30 – 5:00 in the afternoon. I guess they have mail that’s really slow there in Palm Desert. Never mentions these unholy underwear, these underwear, these Spiderman underwear that so shocked her. She doesn’t mention these chocolates, thank you for sending those to me. Doesn’t thank him at all. The reason she doesn’t thank him, and the reason that she doesn’t mention it, is because there was no such delivery. But of course, that’s something that can’t be verified except that there’s this inconsistency and it starts showing that this individual will make things up. But she forgot, she forgot about that February 14th, 2007 email. And you know, short of the old saying, with the truth you ain’t got to remember nothing, at least you have to give her credit for having an incredible memory. Well, an incredible memory as to the fantasy world that she wants to create for you. Just like that delivery of the underwear, can’t show them to us, why? Oh, she threw them away, but she took pictures of some other things.

Knowing they never had a relationship, even if only for a brief 5 months, is like finally finding the key to unlock all of her lies.

I feel exactly the same way...my friend and I have both followed this trial from the beginning, and have both thought JA made more of the relationship than what actually existed. For me, that fact never really held much significance, but Juan has now expertly brought out how key this fact really is.

I think the first trial literally had too much info competing for the spotlight. This phase has allowed the most significant issues to become the main focus, and the DT badly miscalculated Juan's ability to cut through the BS. Instead of validating the murderess' motivations or establishing her "fragile emotional issues," the DT has made it easy for the state to hit home run after home run against their flawed strategy.

And the killer has no one to blame but her own hateful, lying, and manipulative self.

On a certain level I'd rather see her get LWOP as it would mean automatic irrelevancy. Something she likely fears worse than the death penalty!

Last night I could'nt stop smiling over deanna's honesty, as that single one line utterance summed up exactly what has been going on all these months. I suspect that the remainder of the states witnesses' honesty to do the same.

I read her posts during the trial yesterday. Did she do a report later? Sometimes she does and includes more details.

Im not sure. I did see one of her last posts last night before she signed off and she summarized a little bit of the day. I dont know how to search for it.

For the tweets in longer lists I checked the sidebar thread and it takes a little hunting back to yesterday to find the nice longer lists of just the tweets. I found posts like 381, 382, etc. I like to go there to go through all the tweets to get a review.

I know what you mean though that you want more of a report summary from someone. I am not sure if bloggers or reporters did anything like that.

Maybe just google "Jodi Arias Summary 01/27" or "Jodi Arias Summary January 27" or something similar.

This am I reread the transcript from the sidebar about introduction of the sex tape during the first trial, and the reasoning behind introducing it included the DT saying it was to defend against accusations of her being accused of stalking at the same time as the sex tape (May) and to prove how he was not a virgin etc.... at http://archive.azcentral.com/ic/pdf/0607arias-sex-tape-proceeding.pdf. From there.......... I wanted to again listen to the sex tape

oh my...now what we know... listening to this AGAIN after all we know has a different light. How she prompts him at the beginning and lures him into talking about Abe etc. A MUST review for me for sure. Glad I had time to listen to it. Would recommend a little review for those who have time at...

Thanks, TexMex. Geffner wasn't interested in these puzzle pieces:

May 10: TA text to JA: "Why don't you have him come and f--k you in the woods, I can only imagine you are so worried about me reading. You are paranoid because you have no respect for people privacy and you dare insult me of all people. Someone you should through your actions you hate more than love by denying me a human right of privacy countless times. You have a lot of freaking nerve. We are all not like you in that aspect."

May 10: JA supposedly records sex tape

May 16: JA sends TA "poor me" email about his failure to acknowledge her as his gf and publicly note her help with his new blog.

May 18: TA's blog post castigating gold-diggers and women w/"an inner axe murderer"

May 28: JA steals her grandpa's gun

Additions?

Her May 10th, 2008 blog post. What on earth is she rambling about? The very same day that she records the sex tape.

Steady on, MeeBee, I almost feel sorry for her! *slaps self*

Lol. That's not my goal I promise. All these people are acting like Travis owed Jodi something. This feeds right into her feeling entitled to things she hasn't earned or deserves, like sitting in the executive section at PPL and being entitled to everything the man she after has. She had done nothing to earn his respect and certainly not his trust yet she expected him to let it be known that she was his girlfriend when she wasn't.

She should have said in her email on May 16th I want to be with you. The wording implies that they were together and he was just stashing her and she was sick of being a secret and him not valuing her as much as others. What obligation did he have to her?

I always thought this was a construct of her defense that evolved over time but this is how she really saw it. She really does think she was his dirty little secret. I have no doubt now that even back then she felt wronged and betrayed by him even though he made it clear to her over and over it doesn't matter, we are not going to be together. They are now using his good natured tendency to not just throw women to the side to paint him as a cad.

Everything I have seen suggests that, as much as he cared for her, he wanted him to leave her alone. He told one of the many  girls that he was talking to that every time he tried to let her down she freaked out. The Hughes' said the same thing, that he'd try to make things clear to her and she'd threaten to kill herself. Travis was too good natured to be firm with her and she knew it. After all, she only loved him. He also said she would be moving soon and that would take care of that. His friends said he was relieved. I'll bet he was. He was finally able to put this behind him. It's like Juan said: she just wouldn't leave him alone. Torture.

There's also a misconception that I said she didn't hate or doesn't hate Travis. She definitely hates him. Idealize and devalue. She hated him weeks before she killed him. She's tried to destroy him. What I'm saying it now it's not as much about the hate she felt, which has probably tempered in time, but more about getting people to see things as they really were according to Jodi. To have the world see him as she did and to see her as the victim she was and him as the evil user he was. For them to hate him as much as she does.

Her May 10th, 2008 blog post. What on earth is she rambling about? The very same day that she records the sex tape.

OMG.

I am no physchologist but here goes:

"I cannot ignore that there is an ever-present yearning and desire that pulses within me."

I know what it is JA. You are a sex addict.

"It has the power and potential to move me to tears in a matter of seconds."

Her Mom said the same thing to the detective that she is happy one minute
and breaks into tears the next. Bipolar? Mani-depressed?

"Somehow, I know it's right here inside of me. This yearning I have is perhaps the yearning for it to explode into expression. To be fully expressed would be would mean ultimate gratification."

You are darn right you exploded. You exploded in a fit of rage to fully express yourself. Did it give you the gratification you were wanting?

And check this out from her earlier blog post right under that one:

"So while I now go about my day in a manner far removed from my previous Mode of Operation"

So she functioned in life under a mode of operation. She was calculated in her ever move in life. Good Grief.

It's becoming clearer to me now that Jodi has amplified this relationship in her mind even more than I thought before. I thought they did have a long distance thing and then broke up. I am so convinced now, especially after reading her letter and hearing Abe's testimony, that they were never official. It's all coming together now.

Jodi and Travis met, engaged in a flirtation, dated a little, but he seems to have definitively decided she wasn't the one. When she was in Cali she tried hard to get him to commit to her. He liked her but didn't want to take it further. She rationalized in her mind that the only reason he wouldn't committ to her and make her his girl was just to keep crazy Deanna happy. She was in a battle for his attention and devotion and was never worthy. She complained to the Hughes' to make him commit and they played along because they liked her before realizing they'd been had.

The goal was to make him get her to move there. Eventually he tells her it's never gonna happen so she just takes the initiative and moves there anyway, with great resistance from him. The rest of it was her finding ways to insinuate herself into his life, knowing she could always take advantage of his good nature. Can I keep my stuff in your garage? Can I use your car? Can I get some money? Can I get a ride? Oh, is this your bed? Where'd my clothes go? And it always felt like she was so close, so close to winning him. But it just wasn't going to happen.

She convinced herself that they were just on the DL, they were really together but had to keep it underground. But why would Travis do that? When he was with someone, he was with them. He made it known, they were together, he called her his girlfriend. Jodi never got this from him. I never saw any evidence that he held her in the same regard as Deanna or Lisa or Linda or any other girl. She was just another girl he got his rocks off with. And so she had to convince herself in her mind that it's just because she's more special. They were star crossed lovers. Never got the timing right. Travis did love her the most but there were people in his life that we're keeping him from her. So she had to drive a wedge between them. Still didn't work.

Travis should really have put up better boundaries because every time he slept with her it gave her a glimmer of hope. Her obsession with him was deep. All she wrote about, talked about, thought about, wanted was Travis. She had to make this go away because she was finding it impossible to move on. There was a journal entry that I believe encapsulates her need to kill Travis. It basically said there was something that needed to be cut off at its source, shut off like a light. This was Travis. She would only have freedom when he was gone. When Flores was grilling her, just before she changed her story to the ninjas, she's crying and seems close to confessing. "I had to move on."

What's happening now isn't so much hatred of Travis (though that's part of it) as it is a need to convince the world of what the truth of them was, of what she knows she and Travis were. She knew more about him than anyone. Was treated differently than anyone else. Meant more to him than anyone. Make her fantasy a reality in his death. She's done a darn good job too. And Travis isn't here to tell full truth of it and what she put him through.

Great post. A few points to add and to differ upon.

I don't know if we know how definitively he told her that he was not interested in her, period.

I think he DID give her mixed messages, and not just by having whatever kind of sexual contact they had. His closest friends have all said that he genuinely really thought the world of her, at least for some while. She knew she blew it when she snooped his phone. The translation of her saying the relationship ended then is the reality that her accusations and drama made Travis reconsider whether or not she was relationship material.

On one hand he told her to date other men, didn't want her to move to Mesa, and freaked when she did. On the other hand, according to Sky, he refused to listen to or believe anything negative about her. Remember Sky trying to tell him JA had invented the stalker? He just couldn't see it.

Its clear Travis needed/enjoyed a lot of ego stroking. It made him feel good. JA provided that in every way she knew how, and not just with sex. Poor Travis didn't see that she was just trying to manipulate him into a relationship. I can easily believe that he thought she was special. And that she thought she actually had a chance to snag him.

The problem for JA was that the very thing she tried hardest to trap him with- sex- was the same very thing that made him feel terrible about himself afterwards. She used that guilt to manipulate him too. All that gained her was Travis' horribly misguided belief that she was a better person than he was, best understood as an expression of his own self-contempt for repeatedly breaking his own deeply felt principles.

She never loved him or even, IMO, thought in those terms. What she wrote in her journal about that was for him to read. When she said it to his friends it was for him to hear. The truth is also in her journal. She says plainly that she had INVESTED one year into the attempt to claim Travis. That's how she saw it.

She HATED him. IMO it wasn't just a part, but the whole of things. Can you imagine how much self control it must have taken her to flatter Travis non-stop? She who believes SHE deserves, always, to be the center of attention? Omg. She must have been clenching her teeth whenever he wasn't looking. Debasing to her? Oh yeah.

She isn't trying to convince the world she knew Travis best or whatever, imo. She's saying exactly what her defense is- that Travis abused her (by not making her the one). Manufacturing the lies about a relationship and proposals and the like are a smokescreen to distract from the ugly reality that she didnt even have the justification of killing him because she was loved then scorned.

EtA..just read your most recent post. Major disagreement that her hatred for Travis has dimmed over time. I think it has increased exponentially, ever since she was arrested. She believes she was justified in killing Travis, and that Travis is to blame for putting her in the position of being a convicted murderer.

:seeya: Good Morning, Y'all !

:happydance: What a great job by Deanna ! And it's about time somebody put Jen in her place ... lol !

So ... Court starts today at 1:30 pm Arizona time.

I will be available to post WAT's Tweets -- or any other Tweets !

The one thing said by JA in the first trial that was truth is her "I couldn't keep my lies straight" comment. And boy does this ring loud and clear in so many aspects of this case. All of the recent discussion and comments about her PPL history-when it started, where was she living, who was she with, when was she with them, all her tales are wrought with lies. It would be a tremendous sleuthing effort, but it sure would be something if it could all be laid out, cross referencing all her stories, all the testimony of others, all the documents, emails, texts, etc....to show that her entire tale is a jumbled, delusional mess. The whole issue raised by Juan of whether or not she and Travis ever were "dating" at all is so pointed. I think if they were, the DT would have been able to provide texts or emails from Travis to corroborate. But they haven't. They've got nothing. Nada.

OMG, I'm envisioning an Excel spreadsheet ... each documented date across the top columns, each source (text, email, blog post, testimony, interrogation) on the left-side column and details in each cell. I want to tackle this project SOOOooo bad.

I do know Travis cared for Jodi. I do remember Skye saying Travis didn't want to hear it when other people spoke ill of her. He did seem more open to discussing it with his friends though. I think he was conflicted. That's pretty normal for someone you have or had strong feelings for. My sister was recently in a relatiobship with a guy, on and off, who drew this conflict out in her. He was her first love. He was not a good guy. He treated her terribly, would lead her on, was a bad influence on her life. Break up with her and take her back. I didn't like him. And she was depressed all the time and he created negative feeling in her. But she would wait around for him, try and get him to take her back even though she knew he wasn't good to her. I tried to tell her this guy was no good for her. She'd complain about him but try and tell her how you feel and she would get mad. Didn't want to hear it.

I do think he wanted to be free of Jodi. If she never moved to Mesa their dysfunctional relationship would not have become the mess that it did. She'd be in Cali and he'd be in AZ and they would just be friends. She created a conflict in him.

Eta: I disagree very much she isn't trying to convince the world she knew him better. Very much. She is. That's exactly what all this is. It's the reason for that psychotic letter to the family. It's the reason she had to stamp all over Samantha and Steven's VIS's. Travis wasn't the glue, his grandmother was. You're wrong. Don't talk about your grandmother like I didn't know her. Travis confided in ME about her and I even met her. She had to be the one.

Wow. Wouldnt that be something to see all the discrepencies at a glance like that. Even if it could not possibly include everything it would be great to have something like this. It would be utterly amazing to see. The only problem is it would take a lot of work for sure. The good thing about it though is it could be shared at certain points even though we know it would not have everything included. Even if 25% got completed at first it would show some amazing contradictions and then it could always be added to if people had time to keep adding things.

I recently reread his blog , looking for what occurred in May 2008 that may have triggered her rage. The ax murderer thing jumps out only because of what came next. I don't believe he meant it literally, or that he was expressing fear of JA.

We know JA would have read this blog entry at the time. From her perspective, imo, what would have been hugely significant and very insulting is the gist of what he's saying. That he needed to work on himself. That he was attracting the wrong kind of woman because of flaws in himself.

Summed up in the one line that nobody he'd be interested in marrying would be interested in marrying him.

Is there any doubt that JA thought that was aimed at her? And that he had just said to the world that not only would he never marry her, but that he didn't even LIKE what she represented?

I'm not sure he even included Jodi in his mind's list of "wrong kind of women." I think she was altogether off his radar. I'm thinking the the women in his mind are the ones he's dated and proposed to unsuccessfully, young, attractive, well-spoken, non-manipulative, Mormon women, and he's telling himself he needs to reshape the way he goes about it. A key point is that he has to have someone who will nurture the best in Travis Alexander. He seems to have learned this need from being around JA who is all about herself. The theme of having a person in his life who can dig the gold out of him as he her recurs in this period, especially in the statement about JA "You are the worst thing that has ever happened to me."

Good Morning All!

Can't wait to see if Wilmot will recover from yesterday and if so, how; don't see it happening though.

A question I saw on one of the support FB pages: Does JA have the option to change her mind at anytime and decide to take the stand?

From what I've seen of the crime photos, that looks like Travis' room.

so she found a leftover t-shirt in Travis's room and set the timer to take a pic. Then probably weedled and weedled until he let her keep it.

If they allow in the audio today of Deanna's interview, does that open up her entire audio where I am sure Nurmi and Wilmont are trying to trap her with trick wordings and such so they can and have take things out of context?
