Ron's possible plea deal?

ron's in a pickle right now. I can't see him pleaing though. He will stall as long as possible. One thing he doesn't like is people knowing his business. Hard to imagine him letting them drag it to trial but he may go all the way. Meanwhile, he is going to try to gather sympathy and hope a judge or jury feels sorry for him because his child has died.

Nothing is guaranteed.
Juries do crazy things.
Good defense attorney's get things blocked from evidence.

And trials cost money, as do appeals.

I don't see Ron taking a deal that doesn't involve a reduction in charges that gets him out of trafficking and I don't see them offering that personally.

If the fifteen year thing is real then it sounds like they are only offering to step down on level in trafficking which would get us from the 25 year minimum to a fifteen year minimum.

True, but a whole lotta hours ($) go into preparing for a one or two day trial. From the SA's perspective, working out a plea agreement for non-violent charges is prudent. Depsite Ron's previous drug arrests, he's far from being a drug kingpin. Otherwise, he and Misty would not have had to enlist Tommy, Donna, "K" (the juvenile), and Hope to procure the drugs for them which they in turn sold to the UC. Fifteen years is a fair compromise.

Also, while it might seem apparent to us that a guilty verdict would be a no brainer because of the tapes, we have to consider that there are quite a few Ron sympathizers out there. His attorney has done a lot of good PR for him, not to mention NG. And LE has not pointed suspicion his way with regard to Haleigh. I would wager that there are more than a few prospective jurors who would look at those videos and see a poor young man whose daughter was murdered being tricked into dealing drugs by an undercover law enforcement officer when his only crime was being foolish enough to fall in love with the likes of Misty Croslin. Misty Croslin, the mastermind, the daughter of drug addicts and thieves, the little trollop from the wrong side of the tracks who LE has named "the key" to Haleigh's disappearance. If you think I'm wrong, read the Hope Sykes thread and the many posts by outraged members who feel that fifteen years is far too severe a sentence for such a young woman. Ron's a young man who would be facing an even stiffer sentence. I can just see him in court putting on his best "Miz Nancy" face. Pffft! The more I type the more I'm convinced that the SA would be foolish to let his case go to trial.

If a deal is truly being discussed, then it would make sense for R's attorney to withdraw his motion in order to not upset the state's offer.

Usually when things like this go to trial, the defendent gets a heck of a lot more than a plea offer. Going to a jury can be a roll of the dice but it usually is not in your favor in these kind of cases.

& I think LE is trying to break their bond & get them going @ each other. & of course Ron is the 1st one to break-no surprise there. He's always looking out for number 1.

I have to agree with you. LE, in their infinite wisdom, are probably pitting one against the other -- hoping one will crack.

At this point I could careless about the "dope boys" LE can get them another way. The only way Ron should get a plea deal is if he gives up what happened to Haleigh and if it can be proven he is not responsible, anything less is unacceptable. I can not beleive the state would even consider a plea deal with a 28 year old man who has numerous drug charges plus a previous record, he left his children in the care of an incopetent person and she has been missing since.

I'm with you on this, butterfly. They can get the dope boys anytime. They should be concentrating on finding Haleigh. RC needs to stay where he is, and IF they find Haleigh, then they can start talking. Talking about NEW charges.

Tonight on Levi Page show, LP announced that the family has said that Ron is being offered a 15 year plea deal, per his family. Hope was given 15 years for 1 charge, Ron has several plus a record, So why is he being offered a plea?
He has to be talking, and since no recordings of Ron have been released since his announcement that they wouldn't release his calls, I have to beleive that he is talking. My fear is that the state is offering him a plea to turn in larger drug dealers and nothing involving Haleigh.

I so agree with you Butter, I would be really upset if a "deal" is cut for RC's knowledge about drug suppliers. That could come at a later time. I need them to cut a deal about Haleigh.

You are correct. Their case against all of them is a "SLAM DUNK." LP stated on theLevi show that is was just a rumor he learned from the family of RC.
I would call it more like "Wishful Thinking".

Any plea deal for RC would make me sick. Didn't Hope just get 18 years? And wasn't she the least involved in this particular act? (I could be wrong...I can't follow all of these players as well as most) The only way I would accept this is if it made knowing they are about to charge him with conspiracy or more, in relation to Haleigh, and want to dispose of these drug charges.
Besides, isn't Misty supposedly the great drug mastermind according to some? She should be the one to take down the drug trade, if that was the incentive for deal...

I could see Ron telling his family to only contact him thru letters or his attorney. If Ron said no tapes would be released of him, IMO it is because he is making sure there are no tapes to be released. Another game to make him seem like he is not involved.

The only way I can see SAO offering a plea with his charges is if he is giving something up, but damn it it better be big if its not Haleigh like the location of Osama Bin Laden, then I MIGHT be okay with it... but nothing less.

Could someone please tell me whether Putnam County has audio and video of their jailhouse phone calls/visits? Isn't Ron in Putnam County? I thought someone reported that we would not see those visits or phone calls once the players were in the Putnam County jail. Does anyone know?

Putnam County does not have video but they do have audio - we have heard Ron discuss his boxers with AS, we've heard AS tell him to be careful there is a snitch in the jail and most memorable, Hope's conversation with her Mum that got her 15 years.
