CAYCE, S.C. — Cayce Department of Public Safety officers are searching for a missing six-year-old girl.

Officers say Faye Marie Swetlik was last seen just before 5 p.m. Monday in the Church Hill Heights subdivision. That on Picadilly Square in Cayce just off Highway 302.

Officers say she has strawberry blond hair and blue eyes. She was last seen wearing polka dot boots and a black top.

Family members started searching for Swetlik around 3:45 p.m. Authorities were alerted around 5 p.m.

Lexington County officials held a press conference to discuss Swetlik’s disappearance. They say there are 90 safety personnel on the scene and 20 plus community members are continuing to search.

Lexington County PIO Adam Myrick said the scene will remain active and daylight could change things considerably.

“We will be here until we find Faye. Our work will continue until we determine what happened here,” Myrick said.

FBI and South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) officials are assisting Cayce officials in the investigation. SLED officials have sent regional investigative agents, a tracking team, and an aviation unit to search for the missing girl, according to sources.

According to WLTX, all family members have been contacted and none of them have seen the child.

Law enforcement will continue their search through the night and into the morning for missing 6-year-old Faye Marie Swetlik, according to the Cayce Department of Public Safety, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and the Lexington County Sheriff's Department, among other agencies.

Law enforcement said Swetlik got off the school bus around 3:45 p.m. but didn't show up to her home. After an hour and 15 minutes, the family reported Swetlik missing, according to law enforcement.

The girl was playing in her front yard at Londonderry Lane in Cayce just off Highway 302. Her family contacted police around 5 p.m. Monday after they lost track of her, said Sgt. Evan Antley of the Cayce Public Safety Department. ...

Personnel searching will go door-to-door, to every door in the neighborhood. Motorists will be stopped and questioned. Some homes that were visited Monday will be visited again, Antley said.

Anything’s a possibility at this point,” Antley said. “We’re hoping for the best, we want to get Faye back home. We’re not leaving any stone unturned ... we’re exhausting every resource we have and then some.”

Law enforcement is investigating a possible abduction — by a stranger or someone who Faye knows — or that the child got lost in the woods, and other potential reason’s she has gone missing, according to Antley.

“Normally we ask ‘did you see anything unusual? Did you hear anything unusual?’ ” Myrick said. “Today, it will be more direct. ‘What did you see? Who did you see?’ We’re looking for patience.”

In addition to homes and vehicles, the search is also covering a wooded area in and around the neighborhood, as well as terrain at nearby Congaree Creek, which has risen with all of the recent rain, Antley said.
 
CAYCE, S.C. (WIS) - A search for a little girl from Cayce, South Carolina is nearing the 24-hour mark.

They said she was on her normal bus home from Springdale Elementary School on Monday, where she is in first grade.

Swetlik lives with her mother but officials say they do not know who was home when she got off the bus.

“We will be here until we find Faye," Lexington County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Adam Myrick said. “Our work will continue until we determine what happened here.

The search is intensifying with help from state authorities.

The home in Cayce that 6-yr-old Faye Swetlik disappeared from yesterday afternoon. There’s crime scene tape on the door, and a huge search involving hundreds of people. FBI, sled agents and many local police, fire and rescue agencies as well. I spoke to neighbors who stayed out all night searching with them. Details ahead at noon on Channel 9.
