GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC (FOX Carolina)
- Greenville County deputies are investigating after human remains were discovered Friday afternoon.

GCSO says the call came in around 4:18 p.m. from the 100 block of Lakeside Road. As of now, the investigation is in the early stages.

News outlets report Chief Deputy Coroner Mike Ellis says it’s too soon to determine the deceased’s age or sex or how long they have been dead. Forensic investigators and dogs Saturday continued looking for more of the body.

Neighbor Ronald Shackelford told 7 News his dog, "Yellow," routinely shows up with bones from deer or goat carcasses, so he didn't think much of it when the dog was chewing on bones this week.

He said it didn't become clear to him that they were human remains until Friday afternoon.

"He brings bones up here all the time, so I didn't think too much about it til I seen that skull," Shackelford said. "That was like a human skull."

Forensics investigators and dogs were brought out to search for more of the body. As of about 8 p.m. Friday, investigators had not found remains beyond those in the Shackelford's yard, according to Ellis.

There are a lot of missing persons from Greenville, SC but for some reason the location of these remains reminded me of David Oakley:
SC - SC - David Oakley, 37, Anderson, 31 May 2017

His car was found on I-85 near mile marker 30.
David was wearing khakis and a T-shirt. Maybe LE finds more bones and clothing at the scene or nearby. It sounds like the finding place was messed up by the dog (and maybe other animals?).

On Friday, April 12, the coroner's office said the remains found were those of Shannon Pinson, a 45-year-old female.

The coroner does not yet know how or where she died. However, we're told she was identified through a comparison of x-rays taken both before and after her death.

The cause and manner of death are still pending further investigation as well.

Deputies said they've learned Pinson did live in Greenville County. She was last seen on December 9, 2018 but deputies said no one has reported her missing.

Anyone who can give more information on Pinson or her disappearance is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 864-23-CRIME.
