Searchers find dog bones, and more?

:eek:Not sure but I have heard of a few cases where someone tried to cremate a body to get rid of evidence and it was unsuccessful. My understanding on it is, it is very hard to actually burn a body completely to ashes. It has to be at an extremely high temp etc.

I have heard this as well-- about the heat needed to completely cremate a body

I have mentioned a neighboring family of 5 here that was dead for at least 2 weeks in their home before they were discovered. The weather here was unusually warm and humid during that time frame and the house was closed up tight. When the bodies were discovered they had basically liquified and there was not a lot of tissue left to determine cause of death. They were just piles of mush.

The relatives had gone to the house a few times in the weeks prior to the discovery and did not notice any smell or anything out of the ordinary so they did not force their way in.
But,by the 2nd or 3rd week, the stench could be smelled in the neighborhood and that is part of the reason the family finally broke in.An interesting thing was that there were flies caked in the windowsills. It was noted that if anyone had happened to notice the fly activity in the windows earlier, it would have been a sure tip off that there were decomposing bodies in the house.
The investigators could not go in the house due to the smell and had to wear gas masks to investigate and clean. It was nasty business.

OMG. That is so sad. What was the cause of death? NVM you stated not enough tissue to determine. hee hee.

It was a very strange tragedy. They did find 2 guns and were able to determine that the parents had gunshot wounds. But last I heard they still were not clear on what happened to the twin daughters and the grandma.
Theory is the parents shot each other and perhaps poisoned the daughters and the granny.

Danielle Van Dam was missing alot less longer than Caylee and there wasn't much left of her. They couldn't tell anything about her internal organs. I don't think there will be much left of Caylee.

I remember the day searchers found her; even before an id or report was made, someone called the radio to say they were looking at her body. She was left out in open but the searchers who found her knew that it was her. She was found about 25 days after she went missing.

Anyone know or seen what Caylee's "blankie" looks like???? I know it was said the bones found were wrapped in a baby blanket. I also thought I heard Gayle (audio post 8/30/08) say the blanket at the scene was pink. Anyone know what color caylee's baby blankie looked like?

This sounds awful, but if the body were laying out in the open could an animal carry away the head which could show proof of blunt force trauma? If I remember correctly, a lady in my town was murdered a couple of years ago and left lying off the road for about 10-14 days and her head was detached by animals. It concerns me because someone said on Nancy Grace that most child murders by a parent is done by smothering, strangulation, or blunt force trauma by hitting with an object.

oh god just seeing that in writing makes me cry .. all those poor sweet innocent babies .. grr

zadari, I agree completely. This is incredibly sad and I believe there will never be a happy resolution to this. So much has been lost for this family.

When I was growing up, we had a beloved family dog die, and buried her in the way back part of our yard (we had a BIG yard growing up in upstate NY!) in her favorite blanket. It very well could be a family pet buried in the blanket. JMO

The bones in the baby blanket were those of a dog. So the speculation that it was Caylee's blanket is wrong. The other bones found were the ones mrked for investigators and they were not in a baby blanket.

I'm pretty sure a body would be bones by now. The heat is unbearable during this time of year. It runs in the mid to high 90's with VERY high humidity. There are a lot of insects, gators, reptiles etc. Gosh, I almost puked writing that.

Thanks East for this info, and for driving by the Anthony house the other day. Such a brave woman. :blowkiss: You gave us a clue as to what it was like on the Anthony's street. I appreciated your thoughts. (Very traumatic time for this neighborhood).

LE knows how a body or bones would be after this length of time, so this is why I think they asked some questions of Casey/Casey's friends about her favorite toys/stuffed animals:

I go back to the 400 pages that were released, and during their interviews, they asked if Caylee had a favorite stuffed animal. I thought that they asked this because they wanted to know if a favorite stuffed animal was missing. I was thinking, "who cares" because a mother would always bring her babies favorite toys along.

But I think LE (YM) asked this question so that if they found bones, they would be able to tell if those bones were Caylees, by the stuffed animal she was buried with.

I am going to try to go back and see what everyone answered for the stuffed animal. So, if they find bones, along with a stuffed animal, we may believe that Caylee has been found.

They were wrapped in a baby blanket, that was unsettling.
I feel so terrible that they arent getting a big turnout for this search. If I was Florida Id be there everyday looking for that little girl, unfortunately Im in Ohio and have no way to get there.
Theres so much water down there, and it is such a huge possibility that if Casey killed her she was put into one of those bodies of water. I keep wondering if the searchers and police are diving during thier searches. And if not, why? It would seem theres more likeliness of finding her in a body of water than on land because it wouldve been easier for a murderer to hide her that way.

Did they really find bones wrapped in a baby blanket?

yes they were dog bones though.

Omg, how horrible this is. I know in my heart Caylee is not with us any longer, but thinking of her as just a pile of bones is just heart wrenching.

I know what happens after a person dies, but for some reason, I keep seeing her a full person, smiling, etc., and it is very hard to think of her as a pile of bones, even though that is what she probably is by now.

I was thinking the same thing! AND, are our spines and that of a dog that similar? I never woulda thought it. Maybe someone can answer me...:waitasec:

Well, the difference would be in the pelvis and if the pelvic bones weren't found it would make it difficult unless they run DNA. Especially the bones of a toddler and say a medium-sized dog. They need pelvic bones as they are much different than humans (or DNA of course).

Is Lee Vista Boulevard swampy, isolated, etc., or a busy block?

My husband is a physician, and he said that a body will start to decompose within a 24 hour time frame. Caylee's body was probably already starting to decompose in Casey's trunk, hence the stain and hair. They reported that the hair was from a decomposing body. My thoughts are to look for a suitcase of some kind. Remember that Casey packed up all her stuff and left her parents home after an argument. A roller bag would be easier to move, and you could put in something to weigh it down if you wanted to get rid of it in water. Some of Caylee's liquified tissue and hair fell off when Casey put her into something, a suitcase, a trash bag, ect. I can't help thinking about the dumpsters at the Amscot store. A trash bag would just end up in the dump. Maybe she had to wait to put her in the dumpster until trash day. You really don't want a body stinking up the trash too much. Less chance to notice an odor after the store closed on trash day or the evening before.

Forgive me for being graphic, I'm trying to think like Casey.

The suitcase would work for water, as mentioned above. She could have dumped her off of a bridge, but she could get caught, unless it was one that didn't have much traffic. The 417 bridge over Lake Jessup is right over LOTS of water, and 417 isn't traveled much in the wee hours of the night. I wonder if they have taken cadavor dogs over this bridge to check for decomp smells??? She could have pulled over the side of the road, like she had a flat when she did not see cars in either direction, and then tossed the suitcase over the bridge pretty quickly. If someone stopped to help, she could say she got sick or something. BUT, I could see this happening without anyone stopping. Too many people killed pulling over to help a supposed stranded motorist in Florida, and elsewhere...remember Bill Cosby's son??? If she put one of the imfamous "pavers" from the backyard into the suitcase, I don't think it would take long to sink. Anyone in Florida want to test my theory???

We wrapped our ferrets' remains in baby blankets. Of course, they are way smaller than a humans....but yes we loved our babies that much. They were both buried with their own blankies ....

I know I have buried animals too in blankets, but usually wrap them, then put them in a box of some sort, and then bury them. I would imagine being the one who found that baby blanket was horrified though, before they found it was dog bones.

I snipped you but agree totally. And I haven't heard anyone searching the dump and SO BADLY want to call NG and ask her if it happened. Sadly, I think she is at the dump. I really don't think CA would bury her. Dumping, in any instance, is easier.

Yes, I wrapped mine in boxes too. And my poor husband would nail the boxes shut and we would bury them and put heavy rocks on top so other critters wouldn't dig them up. Sorry to be graphic, but true.
