I’d imagine he’d confirm that what he has is the same as what was released…IIRC there is not an original saved recording, just a copy of a copy of a copy..correct?

SG arrest June 2009

I’d imagine he’d confirm that what he has is the same as what was released…

You'd think so, right? Let's see what happens. I'd also like to hear what John Ray thinks about JB's 911 call not being released, and if he can tell us anything about that. Most of all, though, I'd like to hear him say that the call released Friday is the same call, in every way, that he was provided with by law enforcement.

Meanwhile, I can't even confirm that he has a scheduled presser for today. As time goes on, Ray's deafening silence on the topic becomes more odd. In my opinion.

And just like that......

John Ray, the attorney for Shannan Gilbert’s family will hold a news conference at his office on Long Island around 11:30 a.m. He said he will present evidence concluding that she was the victim of a homicide.

Today at 11:30. Wish I could go.

SG arrest June 2009
I hadn't seen this article, just the more common one.

With something like this, though:

....when it says, "Customers would contact the service by telephone or the website and prostitutes would be transported to the agreed upon location, said Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio. The drivers would also deliver drugs upon request"..., and we know (or are we sure?) that Pak worked for Ruis, then how is this not considered a probable scenario re: JB's and SG's "date"?

I have only news reports, no court docs.

Gilbert has a standing indictment in Hudson County as a co-defendant in a case concerning First Professional Referral Services, the escort service where she was allegedly employed, on charges of conspiracy and promoting prostitution, DeFazio said.

The main defendant, Joseph Ruis, was convicted of money laundering and sent to state prison on a five-year sentence, DeFazio said. Ruis has since been paroled.

DeFazio said if the remains are identified as hers the case will be dismissed against Gilbert, who was out on her own custody at the time she disappeared. DeFazio said that despite the indictment Gilbert was considered missing rather than a fugitive.

ETA: Not that it is related to SG but I have to wonder if this is the same Joseph Ruis (the age would match, and I thought he had moved to CA)

I found the other case and was wondering if it was the same Ruis as well. Same age. TY

then how is this not considered a probable scenario re: JB's and SG's "date"?

RSBM

I haven't been able to let go of this theory. Unless (or until), there's proof to the contrary... I still stand by it.

Also, I'm also looking for another WS post I made which includes other business names associated with Ruis... the info was relevant because Ruis had been investigated for at least a year prior to his arrest. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to locate it yet, but I'll keep searching.

Ahhh... here it is

And here's a snippet:

Today, I found few more bits of info related to this NJ escort service:

Why are we sure that EVERY line attributed to Brewer is actually him? I'm no expert, but there are nuances between the voice on the tapes and the known interview Brewer had w Frank Mackay earlier this year. Now, a decade could change pitch, tone. I'm just throwing it out there for discussion. @hawkshaw Thoughts?

Another thing I'm just recalling. Shannan repeats herself ALOT! Things like "There's somebody after me," "Please" and "Why?" and others.
It reminds me of folks I've encountered with head injuries, usually concussed. They often repeat themselves.
I already believe her to have been drugged. I'm now thinking she may have sustained something - blunt force or strangulation - causing brain injury. In such a fight or flight moment, it could explain why she is not recalling any other specifics. Head injury victims often won't know the day of the week or where they are, even if they knew all of it immediately prior to injury.
I'm now wondering if she awoke in the middle of some act, or just waking at all from what rendered her incapacitated, that led her to believe the parties were trying to harm her and adrenaline took over. Adrenaline dumps can last hours.

I agree very much, in the very least, I think she is going through floods of adrenaline. Not sure what the repeating phrases could be, as you said, could be head injury of some kind, or some sort of dissociative state from shock as she was trying to process whatever it was that was happening (or had happened during the course of the night).

I did notice at one point during the call some labored breathing. Not while she was running, while she was at rest. If it's not her, the 911 operator was breathing into the phone.

The breathing didn't sound right to me. I didn't take it as a sign of strangulation, more as possible respiratory acidosis. IMO

If there was any type of intoxicant - alcohol, opioid, benzodiazepine, dissociative, barbiturate, etc - an increased heart rate caused by any means will only push that through the system even faster. Her in-and-out at certain points definitely says more intoxicant to me.

Didn't Shannon have at least 2 phones? One her personal one and at least one other for business? I wonder what phone she called 911 with. And why didn't they keep calling her back until they found her or verified that she was safe? The operators seemed to be having a discussion about what area code her phone was????

I have always gotten the impression in the past, from GC 's description of that night, that she was at GC's house much longer than the 911 call made it seem.

Also, when did Hackett make contact with Shannon? He must have had access to her cell phone to get her Mother's phone number to call her.

In an article published by the Daily Mail today Gilgo Beach victim attorney denies police claims of 'tragic accident'
where Shannon Gilbert's family attorney (John Ray) states that SG had a hole in her hyoid bone--it looked like possibly a drilled hole--suggesting the hole in the hyoid bone, along with the fact the hyoid bone was broken, point to Shannon's death as a homicide:
"Ray had Forensic Pathologist Dr Michael Baden perform an autopsy on Gilbert which revealed her Hyoid bone was not only broken but the bone had a hole in it.
"The hole in the bone Ray described had a radius of 3/16 of an inch in a bone which is about two inches.
'A normal Hyoid bone has no holes, this appears to be some puncture hole or drill hole that went through her neck, possibly some type of medical equipment was used."
I found this article on Hyoid Suspension--"a procedure to stabilise the retrolingual space in obstructive sleep apnoea." Modification of the Hörmann technique of hyoid suspension in obstructive sleep apnoea - PubMed
"Using the Hörmann technique, a steel wire is slung around the body of the hyoid and fixed to the upper rim of the thyroid cartilage. It was observed, however, that the steel wire may lie very superficially to the pharyngeal mucosa. Evaluation of computed tomography (CT) scans showed a mean distance between the hyoid and the pharynx of only 3 mm. A modification is presented by threading a steel wire through a hole that is drilled through the hyoid bone. Thus pharyngeal exposure of the steel ligature and possible perforation of the mucosa is avoided."
Obviously, there could be a legitimate medical reason why Shannon Gilbert had a hole in her hyoid bone--yet, it doesn't seem to have been entertained at all by the attorney or others involved in examining Shannon's remains for clues on how she died--why make a statement trying to create mystery and justification for murder around an aspect that is tied to a medical surgery procedure?
