One of my "Bucket List" items is to ski in Switzerland.
I would so love to travel there in the winter and fill up my large size Bota Bag with some expensive Sauvignon Blanc and take a Gondola to one of the tallest peaks and then ski down to some nice Swiss Town to shop and then do it all over again hitting different small valley towns.

OMG I get goosebumps just thinking about it. Ive been planning it my whole life and have yet to pull off that trip. I have to go there before I leave this planet.

Going back to Switzerland is on my bucket list too! I can't ski anymore, but skied a lot while living in Switzerland over 40 years ago. Taking the teleferique up the mountain, and being above the tree line, staring out over the Alps... There is nothing like that in the world. It is breathtaking. Those images have been with me for over 40 years.

1964 - Student Protesters December 2nd, 1964 : Students storm the administration building ( Sproul Hall ) on the campus of the University of California, Berkeley which protesters took over in a massive sit-in as part of the Free Speech Movement (FSM) .

Isn't it interesting that we now have students that benefited by those protest, wanting to restrict others freedom of speech because they don't like what someone said.

Another drizzly rainy day here. My last tree is finally losing its leaves and I have been raking and gagging wet leaves. Hoping today is the last day for that. Sure doesn't feel like Christmas is almost here... and I am tired!

No gigantic Christmas tree for me this year. I don't have the energy left to do a lot of decorating ..... my favorite time of year. Makes me a touch sad. But we bought this adorable little tree with attached fiber optic lights and I love it. With just a few other decoration times put out, it isn't overwhelming me and will still feel festive ---- at least if I close the curtains on those leaves.

14 killed in mass shooting in San Bernardino, Calif.; 2 gunmen dead following high-speed police chase :(

"What we know:

At least 14 people were killed and 17 others injured in a shooting at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, Calif., Wednesday.

Up to three gunmen opened fire inside the facility — which serves people with developmental disabilities — and fled in a dark SUV, police said.

Hours later, an SUV matching the description led police on high-speed chase during which shots were fired at police.

Two suspects — one male, one female — were killed during the police pursuit. Both wearing tactical gear and carrying assault rifles and handguns.

One officer was wounded and transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Another person, a male who was seen leaving the area, was taken into custody. It's unclear if that person was involved in the shooting earlier in the day.

The gunmen were armed with long guns and were wearing what appeared to be ski masks and vests, witnesses said.

“These were people who came prepared,” San Bernardino Police Chief Jarrod Burguan told reporters. “They came in with a purpose, with an intent to do something.”

Burguan added: “We have no information at this point to indicate that this is terrorist-related, in the traditional sense that people may be thinking. Obviously, at a minimum, we have a domestic-terrorist-type situation.”

A suspicious device left at the center is "believed to be an explosive device," he said.

President Obama called for stricter gun control in the wake of the shootings.

It is believed to be the deadliest mass shooting in the United States since Sandy Hook...."

Oscar Pistorius verdict changed to murder

"Olympic athlete Oscar Pistorius has been found guilty of murder after a South African appeals court overturned an earlier manslaughter verdict...

He is currently under house arrest after spending one year of his original five-year sentence in jail.

Pistorius will have to return to court to be re-sentenced, for murder....

South Africa's Supreme Court of Appeal ruled that the lower court did not correctly apply the rule of dolus eventualis - whether Pistorius knew that a death would be a likely result of his actions.

The minimum sentence for murder in South Africa is 15 years, but judges can apply some discretion...."

The Eerie Coincidences of the Erdington Murders

"An English suburb is haunted by the chilling similarities between two grisly murders that occurred 157 years apart.

Erdington is a quaint suburb of Birmingham, England that dates back to the 9th century. The old English community has undoubtedly seen its share of history, evolving from a rural village to a popular midway point for those traveling between Chester and London in the 18th and 19th centuries. Yet there's a dark chapter to Erdington's history that continues to haunt its residents--the unsolved murders of two young women with details too similar to ignore, right down to the date of their grisly deaths.
But the creepiest part? The similar incidents happened 157 years apart..."

Ohio prosecutor calls death sentence rejection frustrating

"COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — A condemned killer's troubled childhood, which included learning the drug trade from his mother, outweigh the brutal nature of his crime, a divided Ohio Supreme Court ruled Tuesday in overturning the man's death sentence.

The 4-3 decision was the second time a court has rejected a death sentence for Rayshawn Johnson, who fatally beat Shanon Marks with a baseball bat in 1997 for about $50.
Johnson suffered from mental illness and addiction and had limited intellectual ability at the time, said Justice Paul Pfeifer, writing for the majority. At 19, Johnson was also barely removed from his "corrosive upbringing," the justice said..."
