Hi all...wanted to put my 2 cents in....
I worked for a law firm for many, many years. Although it is in a different state, it was an LLC and I cannot tell you how many times we would amend the name of the firm because somebody came on as partner, or whatever. We would have to file papers of dissolution with the Secretary of State and then file for the new LLC name. Possibly Baez's first firm was not an LLC....and now that he has taken on new partners he has become one because there are huge tax benefits to being an LLC vs. just plain old Baez. So this possibly doesn't mean much. If he is managing partner, then he is the BIG DOG most likely. No celebrating yet.
As far as the info posted somewhere on the world wide webs...about Baez's old firm empty etc....perhaps he has just moved to bigger better space...so you know, he can be super fabulous.
I refuse to count my chickens before that egg hatches, because for all we know, JB left his wife and is just waiting for his licorice babe to get off that bad old parole so they can live the high life off of blood money.

Good luck with that! Haha! One year I shorted the IRS $330 (not on purpose, honest), and they all but came after me with pitchforks and blazing torches ...they do NOT have a sense of humor...if they are due money they WILL get it, one way or another....eventually. I would think ill-gotten gains like KC's would get, um, special attention. I'll bet IRS agents don't appreciate KC receiving blood money any more than the rest of us do.

:twocents:

There are only a few creditors who survive bankruptcy. The IRS is one of them. They won't budge a penney. Take my word. I see it weekly. They don't negotiate. Those ads you all see on TV saying "IF YOU OWE THE IRS A MILLION DOLLARS WE CAN NEGOTIATE A SETTLEMENT FOR PENNIES"....do.not.believe.it.
Death and taxes....two things you can be sure of in this life. Hopefully, one of the other will catch up with Ms. Anthony.

I guess the question I have would be: Did Casey hand over the entire $200,000.00 to Jose?

We know Jose claims he did not represent Casey in the deal with ABC when he was forced to explain how he had been paid during Casey's indigency hearing?

Also, how could an adult, which Casey was, not know they had to pay taxes? Who needs a lawyer to tell them that they have to pay taxes?

As much as I dislike Jose, I want Casey to have to pay every dime she owes back. Every dime!

:seeya: Your post made my lightbulb go off. I am thinking perhaps TM, the other attorney, made this ABC deal and this is why he probably 'donated' that $70,000-He was maybe just paying back his % fee? To me, he has seemed to be the go-between where it came to the media-I sort of wonder if he is a part of those Elevator producers as well, never know:floorlaugh: I really don't trust any of them, I think they are all involved together covering each other's bottom side.

Edited: Hmmm. maybe that $70,000 donation was for the taxes - would make sense.

2nd Edit: I've been reading the other posts about the extension for that $68,000- Could the reason possibly be because JB and Co. figured their client would be going away for at least that long if she took the plea deal? Funny how almost everythng they tried to do really has backfired.

Your lightbulb sure makes a lot of sense.

If it is a collusion of sorts, can the Bar go against JB on that?

I have no doubt Geraldo Rivera is also part of the Elevator producers...

I'm not an attorney, unfortunately-We need to page one of the fine attorneys in here:seeya:. I would love to see one big investigation into all this because in my mind, there was an awful lot of collusion going on. I wouldn't doubt someone was sitting on the $200,000 all this time, took a fee from the interest and Voila, that's how OCA got some of her money. Too much money has been not only hidden all over in this case, but passed around like a chinese fire drill, so nobody can remember who got what and from whom. IMO, I think the keeper of the $200,000 funds was CA because of the Foundation cover.:furious:

Could be. I don't think myself the lying would pan out federally, only statewise. The Feds are probably more interested in the tax evasion and what money she has. It could be that they are waiting for her to do her taxes and see what she claims. Interesting. Then again, we could be waiting until April, or longer if somehow she gets an extension! God, I would hope not. And I thought the 2020 thing was how long the Feds have to get the money from her. I highly doubt she has eight more years before having to pay taxes. The IRS is usually not that slow in getting their money, I would think. Seriously, they get all over people like me for a few hundred bucks owed!

Maybe it's not taxes the Feds would really be interested in.

Maybe Casey sent some "private videos/photos" to some of her inner circle and that included minors in that group?

Maybe Jose didn't look happy on GR because he knows how this would play out and he needed to get some distance between him and her before the next stupid thing she does.

Of course your defense would be that your computer was hacked and what ever was taken was without your consent.

Just a thought on reasons for the feds interest.

Remember back in the day when we were all looking up nefarious companies that we thought all might be involved behind the scenes (darn near mafia-like)? We were getting very conspiratorial back then. Didn't think the A's/DT had the street smarts back then to be that involved.

Now with all the sleezy creepy crawlers:worms: coming out of the woodworks... and the A's have now been skooled in nefarious low life living...

Do now....

I'm sorry - I am totally off topic, but I must interject

YUM!

I remember something about Casey owing the IRS $65,0000 dollars or something of that amount.

Two Words......PARTY......POOPER.......:floorlaugh:

If this man is having a "fabulous time" then why does he look downright miserable? Just cause he's chuncked up?

:floorlaugh: I'm not so good on how legalities work, but if JB as lead counsel was her 'agent' and this went to his now defunct office-Hmmm, wouldn't that make him somewhat responsible? I want to know now where that $200,000 was sent in care of-who? Who was her legal agent to bank the money away?

Asked DH about what this Federal investigation could be about, He thinks there's much more in the woodpile than just a tax lien. We'll see soon enough-I hope.

Yummy, Gelato:great:, never heard of this brand before or the flavor, sounds interesting. Thanks for the heads up:seeya:

My memory is not what it once was, but I could almost swear I remember reading something concerning the possibility of federal charges against FCA in regard to Caylee's death. I wish I could remember more clearly what I read, but this was way back in the early stages of this case - WAY before trial. My memory of it was that even if found NG in the criminal trial at state level, (which none of us even considered could be possible at the time), there was a way that FCA could be charged with the death on a federal level. It was something kind of "loophole-ish" or a seldom used, technicality type of thing. I remember the discussion being in the vein of, "it could happen, but most felt it unlikely. Oh, how I wish I could remember more about the posts on here or which thread it was on, but it's just been too long ago and I don't think I (or many others) on here gave it a 2nd thought because in our minds, she was never going to walk on the charges at state level. Anyone else remember posts from long ago concerning what could happen to FCA on a federal level, if she was found NG on the state charges? Possibily something related to abuse of a corpse or something along those lines?

I am not sure I remember the details of this part.

Was OCA every questioned by the police on how exactly the car ended up abandoned in the parking lot? What was her answer?

Did the A's ever testify as to asking her before the police were called? Did they testify as to her answer?

How did the car go from Amscot parking lot to tow yard?

Or were the A's just notified by the car lot guy it was there and no one got the straight answer as to how it ended up there?

Thanks in advance.

My DD will be 23 next month....and sometimes I still have sleepless nights!

I'm pretty sure it never goes away. My dad just told me he stil lies awake worrying about me. I'm 44 :gasp: I even think I make reasonably sound decisions. I have supportted myself and my children. Who are grown except for the 17yo. And I lay awake worrying about them.

And thanks to my father, I now know my sleep is permanently screwed. I will worry forever.

Thanks, Dad lol!
