REF: Eshiobhan:

I will say, and this is probably an unpopular opinion, that I have read both Jeff Ashton and Jose Baez's book and I have come away just really disliking both men. Not because of either book, I disliked them both before but I had hoped maybe the books would make them more likeable. I think both books recount the evidence from their own point of view and include a ton of name calling of the other side and justification for their own bad behavior. Jose's book does include more stuff I didn't know, but this is simply by virtue of the Sunshine Law and on top of that I have no idea if I believe any of it. Having finished the books, I am just saddened that there is really NO ONE in this case to really root for. I guess I was hoping for a Sharon Rocha to emerge and there is just not one.

Thanks for your excellent unbiased review! Appreciate it very much that you went through the trouble to post it. :)

He does not admit the body was in the trunk. He says there should've been DNA, he says the hair with the band was caused by the elements because they only found one, he says the blow fly leg is just one leg, that there should've been more if there was a body. That blow flies are not JUST attracted to dead bodies.

He doesn't really talk too much about the Anthonys, or even Casey for that matter. The book is really about him, his trial prep, his experiences with the experts and the evidence. He says that the child was obviously loved. The story is pretty much the same as at trial, which he says is a story Casey told him. That her father woke her up looking for Caylee, then he found her in the pool and told Casey he would take care of it. He has reasons why George wouldn't report it. Perhaps he was abusing Caylee when she died, perhaps he thought he could be Caylee's father (he says Casey told George that he WAS Caylee's father) and didn't want anyone to know.

I still have a hard time understanding what they think happened to the body. He says Caylee's body was put where it was so that it would be found and it is implied that George puts her there. Apparently in Kronk's first call he mentions a white board or something that was never found. That this was to mark where her body was. Kronk then moved a fallen tree to hide the body better. At least I think that is his point. A lot of it is not totally clear, and I guess that is so he can't get sued.

As for the shorts, he states that Henry Lee would testified that, besides rips and tears from the elements/scavengers, etc, that they wore torn when they were put on the child. It doesn't state how he could tell this specifically. He says that this implies a person dressed her who did not normally dress her. That they had an idea of who this was and hoped the jury could make the connection as well. Clearly this implies it was George.

And yes, he says he bought a saw at Wal Mart. That it was 3 am on Christmas and they didn't have one available and nothing was open. they tried with a saw provided to them from the funeral home, because they assumed the skull would've been opened, Spitz did not bring his tools.

The book was a lot of finger pointing at the cops, that they should've looked at Casey like she was crazy, not like she was a liar. A lot of finger pointing at the media. There was a lot of making fun of Jeff Ashton. There was not a lot of Casey in the book. He explains how he finally got her to drop the "Zanny the Nanny" thing and how he got her to tell him about the "molestation."

Too bad every point you mentioned that Baez said can be disproven by the evidence produced at trial and in the evidentiary hearings where it was presented before the trial to see if it was worthy of trial evidence.

If Baez is going to produce such drivel he needs to move to a State that does not have the Sunshine Laws. Just because he didn't read and absorb the evidence doesn't mean the rest of us didn't.:maddening: Seriously - who does he think he's talking to? The "general public" ain't no Pinellas twelve!

You took the words right out of my mouth. And many of the posts by people who have stated they are done with Casey Anthony. I personally am enjoying my Independance Day holiday readine Baez's book. IMO it's a much better read than Ashton's book. It's refreshing to read something that's not all about "sour grapes".

Amazing how there's pages of discussion on a book "no one" was gonna read. Amazing!

Actually, I've read that it's the 21st of August... :seeya:

I heard the 21st of August too - My guess is that CM mentioned the 24th/25th so that CA can "sneak out" early without being seen. Not going to work though.

Be sure to post some highlights.
But also folks, can we also please stop alluding to posters' behavior? Remember...attack the post (citing it would be good), not the poster or posters in general. And lets, not forget to say...that these are just one's own opinions.
TIA

ETA: not directed towards anyone specifically...just would like to further the discussion.

I tried to start a new thread because the book thread is closed, but it's in moderation limbo lol.

So, due to being out of books to read on my kindle--I read fast and I've read everything that looks remotely interesting on the NY Times best seller list. Anyway, so, yeah, I bought the book. I know, I know, but don't hate me.

One of us needs to read it, right?

I'm on page 1676 and it's mostly been all about how incompetent LE was and a lot of innuendo regarding Casey and her "trust issues".

This, however, caught my attention, and forgive me if it's been posted:

From the book--Jose speaking about himself:

I went online and started to read what these bloggers were saying and couldn't believe the anger and hatred that was developing against Casey and me. I also couldn't believe the number of arm chair detectives out there who were trying to solve the case. There was a website called Websleuths, and in it they had gone through the public records and researched my entire career. The "sleuths" talked about me as if they knew me. Much of it was insulting, even cruel and scary.

But you, JB have no problem laughing with FCA about "Zanny" YOU Jose Biaz are scary!

As another poster pointed out (sorry can't remember who), that goes against WS TOS. Anytime things went south, our fantastic mods got things back on track.

This is one time that I would like to hear what NG has to say.

from the link:

Central Florida News 13 in reports by Adam Longo that start at 5 a.m. Thursday. The channel says that Baez will discuss what he didn’t put in the book. “It’s information you won’t see anywhere else,” anchor Jackie Brockington said.

I wonder what that will be?:waitasec:

Ya know...this guy is so transparent. It wasn't too long ago that he didn't want to reveal all the supposed "secrets" during a tv interview...said to go read the book. Now that that's not working too well (lol), he'll reveal all the other little juicy tidbits on air? GMAB

I can't think of anything he could possible have left to say that we'd need to hear.

OMG peeps - proof positive. While DD and I were discussing what SHE is reading in "The Book"... the shovel came up.

So, by Casey's own admittance Caylee drowned on June 16. The shovel borrowing incident occurred when, 2 days later???? Why would you need a shovel to dig up bamboo for? It was to bury her dead daughter.

Which we all knew, but now, hindsight after the bombshell - she knew Caylee was dead at the time she borrowed the shovel.

I hope I am making sense.

How is he explaining the smell of human decomp in the trunk, the hair with the death band and why FCA dumped her car at Amscott?

I know why but I want to hear the Grimm's fairy tale version....

She is only on ch3 and is taking copius notes. Lol. But the underlying theme is......George did it. He seems to hate GA with a passion. He sees things as if Casey is non trusting because of you know what. Instead of seeing a pathalogical narcissist sociopath who lies on the fly.

There is so much that the jury should have caught if they weren't so lazy - the texts messages, pc searches & what you posted above. All of this happened the day GA pulled Caylee out of the pool or soon after. It's hard to believe she cried when she seen Caylee in GA's arms & went back to posting pictures @ photo bucket & texting. All this while GA triple bagged & dust taped Caylee to make this accident look like a murder.:banghead: Oh this jury!!!!

A funny note..when the vile book arrived I carried it in by two fingers. Wouldnt open it. Lol. Like it eas demon possessed or something.

My wish would be that an investigative reporter would go through the book and do a long article on each and every point that Baez made in his book that is overridden by the evidence presented at trial.

It is making me crazy that he is getting away with spewing this rubbish to the unsuspecting public who don't know the case as well as we do, and that he has hand picked his interviews to meet with people on camera who know squat about the case....

Not even Dr. Drew can do that because he is now being investigated by the FDA for accepting large sums of money from Glaxo to promote Wellbutrin on his shows as an anti-depressant that does not affect the sexual libido...:banghead:. Tony Piptone could do it - but will he? Longo probably could but IMO doesn't have the backbone. Where's Bill S. when we need him?

from the link:

I wonder what that will be?:waitasec:

hahaha, so now since the interest in his book is apparently so low and sparse, to draw viewers to this interview they just can't say he will be talking about what IS IN his book, they have to say he will talk about what is NOT in the book, REALLY? if this info is so interesting and jaw-dropping, why ISN'T it in the book? this stuff is too much sometimes. so the most intriguing part of JB's book promotion tour is about what is NOT in his book, WHAT?? :waitasec:

IMO, MOO, etc.

Crimesider: What did you think about the anger people felt toward Casey?

Baez: I was kind of shocked by it because, as a defense lawyer, you see far worse. You know, there are crime scenes where you see two, three people deceased. I was kind of thrown back by it a little bit, like, why is this case getting people so much angrier than the others?

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_...aez-makes-the-case-for-his-clients-innocence/

REALLY? so since there wasn't a bloodbath caused by Casey, since she didn't murder her whole family or a family of 6 down the street, just caused the death of her beautiful little daughter and threw her down the street in the swamp, we should not be outraged? I didn't know there was a caveat on outrage depending on the number of deaths.

IMO, MOO, etc.

I'm sure it something he didn't put it in the book because he knew he could be sued if he had.

Just more lies no doubt.

More sensationalism no doubt.

Baez...could you even speak the name of the child Casey murdered without having to look it up first?
