Just saw in the news that the London Marathon has just begun. I think they had a moment of silence for the Boston Marathon victims.

Wow....that could easily have been the older brother. And maybe instead of "body armor", it was a bomb vest he wore. Was 2/23 anything special going on that day? Maybe he had planned it for that day and because police came and he was reported, he may have cancelled his plans that day.

I'm fairly sure the "long gun" guy in Feb turned out to be absolutely nothing. Was this the incident where it actually turned out to be a guy with an umbrella?

There were lots of false sightings of people with guns in the month or two after Newtown.

Did the FBI miss a chance to stop Tamerlan Tsarnaev?

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-57580580/did-the-fbi-miss-a-chance-to-stop-tamerlan-tsarnaev/

Absolutely.

It is my opinion that their picture could have been shown as early as tuesday. If the older brother was talked to 2 years ago by the fbi I would think they had him in their radar with in hours of the bombing, much less the eye witness,Jeff. The president met with the saudi's(unscheduled) on wednesday morning to apologize for the wrongful arrest of the saudi guy,(but said it was about syria) Then goes to boston for the memorial in the morning. Then the picture/video is released at 5:00, less then 6 hours they are in a gun fight. So yes I think this could have been stopped. I do wonder if their description/picture was handed out to the boots on the ground at the marathon.

So the aunt says she will only go home with the bodiesof her nephews, is she forgetting one of them is still alive?

This I found interesting.

I know that perp 2 is under guard, but they better keep a good eye on any docs, nurses, visitors (doubt he's allowed any other than LE), LE, etc... Nothing like shutting up a young perp to keep a secret a secret - if he was part of a group. At least that is what popped in my mind.

JMO
He definitely was quick to get very angry and loud and something was a little strange. There were a ton of reporters there and he knew he had to side with the victims. Its hard to tell his true beliefs because of the way all the reporters were surrounding him.

I just hope that LE really checks out the whole entire family and extended family for anyone with like minded values. I just dont think those 2 kids were the only ones who thinked like they did. There had to be others that shared their hate of people.

Bam! Exactly!

Something I really need answered........

Why, why, why would you wear a white baseball cap, and backward none the less when you go to blow up the Boston Marathon?

Seriously this is like street crime 101. The deceased terrorist has on a dark golf baseball cap and sunglasses. The brother? It's like "Yo, here I am". Even if he's half baked there he'd at least know to bring another cap or lose that one and put another jacket or shirt over the one he was already wearing.

How obvious can a person get?

This is absolutely only my own opinion, pure speculation and probably 100% wrong.

I think he didn't care.

I think they had more attacks planned, but I think they were arrogant enough to 'know' they would get away with this one with enough time to go through with the next attack, then they planned to leave the country after that.

That very well could be, fruity. Brazen.

Just my thinking about regular crime. When descriptions go out on the radio you hear what a person is wearing obviously and depending some criminals have another hat in a bag and another shirt. Orrrrrrrrr wear the usual "uniform" so everybody on the street is wearing the same.

Plus the "white hat" pulled an innocent guy into this horrific crime.

Thank you though. That bothered me from get go. That and the yellow balloons.

He went to Russia in Jan. 2012 and came back in either June or July 2012, I read it somewhere before.

He didn't just go to Russia, he went to Dagestan. I read somewhere ages ago (can't find link now) that the Russians killed something like 25% of the Chechen population during the two civil wars. The two large terrorist attacks on the Russian Theater, and the hundreds that died when Chechen terrorists took a school were supposedly largely comprised of widows and other surviving family members of Chechens killed by Russians.

The Caucasus region has been plagued with a rising number of insurgent groups, largely due to having poorer economic conditions than other regions in Russia as well as high concentrations of minority ethnic and religious groups such as Muslims, Dagestanis, Ossetians, and Chechens. Russian officials fear that disparate groups may join together to form a united front with more substantial capabilities. Evidence of this concern lies in the fact that Dagestani Shari'ah Jamaat has strong connections with Riyad us-Saliheyn, the group led by late Chechen rebel leader Shamil Basayev.

Since the September 11 attacks, and the Arab revolutions, a new generation of Chechen Muslim radicals, who want to create a Taliban-style government across the Caucasus Mountains to be governed by Sharia, has risen to fight. They are in their 20s and 30s and use the Internet. They reportedly have a website, where Chechen jihadists, from around the world, now fighting in Syria, Pakistan and Turkey, post their reports.

Their new leader, Doku Umarov, called by some Russia's Osama bin Laden, has said, "Today in Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, and Palestine our brothers are fighting. Everyone who attacks Muslims wherever they are our enemies, common enemies. Our enemy is not Russia only, but everyone who wages war against Islam and Muslims." Three weeks ago he called to Chechens living in other countries to come home to Chechnya to take part in the fight.

If the brothers and mother believed that the US staged 9/11 to justify an attack on innocent Muslims then that would certainly be considered "waging war on Muslims and Islam".

I would be interested to see the website that was mentioned. Are these two discussed on it?

If they planned to leave the country I have to wonder where they planned to go, surely not back to Dagestan where this probably all started, the Russians would have hunted them down and killed them fast (along with whomever else was in the vicinity).

Yeah I thought the same thing and mentioned it before they were identified.

Sheesh they make reversable baseball caps, take off the jacket, change the attire, make it harder to spot you in the massive crowd pics.

Course another good idea would be do NOT set off bombs in your own town where countless people will recognize your face. If they had someone mentoring them how did this not get mentioned?

Terrorists hiding in plain sight. (Still stunning to me that our wounded soldiers at Ft Hood cannot get benefits they deserve because our Gov labeled that Terrorist attack "workplace violence.")

http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-57580580/did-the-fbi-miss-a-chance-to-stop-tamerlan-tsarnaev/

This is not the first act of terrorism that has highlighted the FBI's attempt to walk the line between preserving an individual's rights and doing everything it can to head off a potential attack.

The agency interviewed Carlos Bledsoe, who opened fire at an Arkansas Army recruiting station in 2009, multiple times before his attack. FBI agents questioned Bledsoe in Yemen, twice in Pittsburgh -- where they also asked him to submit to a polygraph test -- and again in Little Rock, Ark., where he moved after ducking appointments with the FBI.

It later emerged that Bledsoe developed his extremist leanings in his trips to Yemen and spent countless hours before the attack watching internet videos of American-born terrorist leader Anwar al Awlaki. Authorities also found an AK-47 and 1,400 rounds of ammunition in his vehicle following the attack, and a search warrant revealed "Google maps searches on U.S. and Jewish targets from Little Rock to Philadelphia," Miller said.

Yet before the attack he "hadn't broken any laws," Miller noted. "Absent his committing a crime, we're still a free country and he's still an American citizen entitled to his rights."

The agency also conducted an in-depth intelligence investigation into Major Nidal Hasan, the man behind the Fort Hood shootings, before that attack.

The investigation into Hassan was considerably more thorough than the investigations of Tamerlan Tsarnaev and Bledsoe. Miller said the FBI "assessed wrongly that his conversations with al Awlaki were part of his thesis research. And there was the idea that approaching Hassan would expose their bugging of his email account," which was valuable for tracking other terrorist ties.

I would love to know where they were from 5:00,when their photos were released,to 11:00 when they shot the officer at MIT. That's a long time to hide when your face is a plastered all over the world, literally. I'm thinking somebody gave them shelter. Where was #1 living? Seems as though #2 spent time between his dorm and his house. I can't imagine he was at either of those places after the photos were released.

Pretty silly, huh? To me it points to the act being the work of the two brothers with perhaps the assistance of a handful of inexperienced young locals like themselves. More seasoned ciminals wouldn't have pulled off a crime of this magnitiude so close to home. IMO

The FBI was last night hunting a 12-strong terrorist “sleeper cell” linked to the Boston marathon bomb brothers.

Police believe Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were specially trained to carry out the devastating attack.

More than 1,000 FBI operatives were last night working to track down the cell and arrested a man and two women 60 miles from Boston in the hours before Dzhokhar’s dramatic capture after a bloody shootout on Friday.

A source close to the investigation said: “We have no doubt the brothers were not acting alone. The devices used to detonate the two bombs were highly sophisticated and not the kind of thing people learn from Google.

“They were too advanced. Someone gave the brothers the skills and it is now our job to find out just who they were. Agents think the sleeper cell has up to a dozen members and has been waiting several years for their day to come.”

A specialist team of CIA and FBI interrogators was yesterday flown to a Boston hospital to grill wounded Dzhokhar, 19, about the secret group. The University of Massachusetts student was caught on Friday after hiding out in a boat parked in a garden in locked down Watertown the day after a gun battle with police left his 26-year-old brother and a rookie cop dead.

Plus why in the heck would they stay together like glue at the Marathon? If one gets recognized they both go down, they are BROTHERS!

Were they too insecure (or too clueless) to carry their bombs in separately? They had to hold each others hand the whole time because they were scared or what?

Respectfully, Filly, it wasn't the white hat that dragged an innocent person into the realm of suspicion.
