Princess Beatrice wedding to be privately-funded after Eugenie’s cost taxpayer £2 million

PRINCESS BEATRICE’S wedding will be paid for privately in a dramatic break from royal tradition. Buckingham Palace confirmed the move, which comes after Princess Eugenie’s big day cost British taxpayers around £2million.

This is surprising but the right thing to do.

Infatuated like saw her as some sort of prize to be won. Personally I wouldn't like my Mother remembered as a piece of meat to be fought over.

Part of his autobiography is about how Diana agreed to do write a foreward to a book by Versace for charity of naked photos of men and backed out at the last minute saying that she didn't know the photos were of naked men. He says she backed out and cost the charity a load of money because of how it would look when we don't have her side of what she was told.

Especially about his Mum who is obviously dead and has no possibility of reply. Really don't like when people tell tales about people who are gone when they had the chance to do it while they were alive and could respond.

She was looked at as a prize by certain men. It says something about them. Nothing about her.

Should any attractive woman be not talked about because some look at them as a piece of meat? Marilyn Monroe for instance.

Kim Kardashian praises Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for bringing attention to important issues | Daily Mail Online

Does it ever end??? Ellen, Nacho and especially Kim K, please go away. Why would anyone value Kim K's opinion. I know that she is super rich and made good business moves to get rich but I am not sure of how smart she really is. Interesting that MM and KK have the same hairstyle and it looks dreadful on both of them. Hopefully, MM is smart enough not to get involved with KK. Time will tell.

I wonder how these pictures of the Queen are taken?

The Queen made an oath on her twenty-first birthday that she fully believes she is to keep until she dies. It's got nothing to do with her feelings about Charles but wholly to do with keeping her oath to serve.

"I declare before you all that my whole life whether it be long or short shall be devoted to your service and the service of our great imperial family to which we all belong."

I think it is cheap and trashy for Elton John to use Diana in this way.

This and his pompous statement about paying for private plane fuels make me see who the real Reg Dwight really is. And it's not at all nice. Despite the celebrity worship and icon status he gets.
But yet he offered his private jet to H and M and they even stayed at his villa. They need to run from him. He is using them...jmo

Eight miles west of Ballater, adjacent to Balmoral Castle, lies the small village of Crathie. Many people who have heard of Crathie on visiting the village for the first time must be astonished to discover just how small it is...
On the north side of the river is the charming Crathie Parish Church. Here the Princess Royal was married.

Like many parishes in upper Strathdee the first beginnings of the Christian faith are to be found in the work of missionaries in the early Celtic Church. The thirteenth century Church, the ruins of which are to be found in the old graveyard,

It shouldn't be forbidden to be mentioned but at the same time, if it was my Mum (who I was just giving out last week about intrusion into her personal life) I would not want someone who supposedly is a close friend selling a story like that about her.

I agree that the story says more about the men involved but I think it also says something about Elton that he chose to sell it.

GEORGE V DIES – AND DOCTORS HELPED SPEED UP HIS DEATH

On the evening of 20th January, the King lay comatose in his bed, a cold having knocked him off his feet. Aged 71, George had been in failing health for months...

Queen Mary had sent for Lord Dawson of Penn – one of the King’s doctors – just a few days before, and on this day, George managed to hold a 10-minute Privy Council meeting, continuing his kingly duties...

George V passed away at Sandringham House, at around midnight,...but his end was not a natural one – his doctors helped speed up his death with a lethal cocktail of drugs.
Lord Dawson recorded the events of the day, and released a bulletin to the public around 9.30pm stating that ‘The King’s life is moving peacefully toward its close’.

His notes said this was so that the announcement was made ‘in the morning papers rather than the less appropriate evening journals’.

“It was evident,” wrote Dawson, “that the last stage might endure for many hours, unknown to the patient but little comporting with the dignity and the serenity which he so richly merited and which demanded a brief final scene.”
Bertrand_Edward_Dawson-829x1024_f_improf_319x394.jpg

“If we cannot cure for heaven’s sake let us do our best to lighten the pain.”
The doctor’s notes claim he was told by Queen Mary and eldest son David ( ;)Eddie VIII) that they did not want George to suffer, and needlessly prolonging his life – if this bout of illness was fatal – was not something they wished for. But they did not ask for his death to be hastened.

George V’s last words were reportedly, “How is the Empire?”.
...It is unlikely, however, that the highly religious Queen Mary would have agreed to assisting her husband’s death.

The timing is making more sense, it was that they wanted to have their choice of court and the rules were changing. Still think the statement should have waited until the visit was finished but at least the timing makes more sense now.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s flurry of legal claims against Britain’s tabloid press were rushed out late last month with the aim of bringing the cases before judges seen as more privacy-friendly, according to people briefed on the matter.

The timing of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision to sue the owners of The Sun, The Mirror and the Mail on Sunday had astonished royal watchers — in part because the moves came during a well-received tour of southern Africa.

Insiders said one of the main triggers for the legal action was in fact a set of revisions to procedures at London’s High Court, which from October 1 change the division where lawsuits relating to the media are filed.

Had they waited longer, the Duke and Duchess may have had to issue their claims at the Queen’s Bench Division of the High Court. Some lawyers see the specialist media judges there as more open to the arguments of publishers than the Chancery Division, the venue for recent high-profile privacy and phone hacking cases.

Legal advice on the implications of the changes prompted the Sussexes to accelerate the filing of claims that were months in the making. All three claims were initiated in the Chancery Division in the week before the October 1 deadline.

Super cute--I'd wear that.

Harry has known EJ since he was a little boy. Doubt there is reason to 'run from him'.
I get the sence that EJ has an "ownership" issue with Harry, but not William, because of his friendship with Diana. As if he had / has a duty to protect him, and therefore Archie.

But that quickie visit to EJ on the top of the Ibiza birthday holiday is odd.

There will be a rift soon between EJ and H. His mother had rifts with EJ as well....
