In only 5 generations, they will have nearly 1.5 Million Duggars, if all of their children follow the same path as the parents.

Holy Moley! That's a LOT of Duggars!:)

They could more than double the 2008 population of the state at 2,880,000. I think they're gonna need some more land unless they plan on building apartments, instead of more houses like the one they live in now.

The oldest boy and his wife moved into the 3 bedroom house they all used to live in together. Of course this was before the last couple of babies arrived.

Can you imagine the family reunions they would have!!!

Does anyone here know how many siblings Jim Bob and Michelle have?

Did anyone see last nights episode? Josh and Anna were at the dr.'s office gettng an ultrasound and Josh said its good to have all these tests so they can make a decision if need be....My wording my not be exact but my first thought was ok I wonder if they would abort the baby if something turned up wrong?
Maybe Im way off on it but that was what i was thinking as soon as he said it

Wow! My daughters both watched this show way back when, my youngest said they weren't using birth control because they (the parents) blame a miscarriage on the birth control they used way back when. They want to go with a GOD's plan for them sort of thing.

That sure doesn't sound like GODs plan...

I was thinking about that same thing. Before you know it the world is going to be full of duggars!!

Also, in regards to health insurance. I think I read in an article they wrote in People about this family a few months ago, that they spend 240.00 a month on health insurance. Now that is crazy! What am I doing wrong? I am 24 and spend 230.00 a month for just my health insurance and don't even have dental/maternity/vision. I wanna know what they are doing.

sorry for the confusion,it's not QV in general,it's the specific teachings the Duggars follow that warns against adoption, saying the children inherit the sins of the parents.I'll search and BRB.
I totally agree,btw.

Well good thing we are all entitled to our opinion. Also good thing for my babies, I do NOT agree with you or apparently the Duggars. My husband and I have been blessed with 5 children, 2 from birth and three from adoption. I don;t know about the whole sins of the fathers from a child being adopted. I think that is from ALL children;s parents if they sin. WHich we all do. I do know that my three little ones would probably NOT be alive today if they had stayed in their birth families. WE are the blessed ones, but I know GOD brought them to us for their safety as well. SO sorry you feel that way about adoption. It is a very sacred thing and oh so wonderful.

If you figure that out, please let me know. :waitasec:

I rarely watch the show because the Duggars creep me out. They seem so cult-ish and I don't believe their happy all the time, we all are pretty much perfect attitude.

I have respect for the Duggars, but I really think it's time for them to stop. Their children are starting to have children now, and I think it's time for them to have the spotlight in the family. The first grandchild is going to be overshadowed now with #19 being born soon after.

I think it's marvelous that she's having another one. The world needs as many responsible people as it can get. They treat their children with love, respect and kindness. It's these kind of families that make our nation great. They're entirely self-sufficient. They work for their money. They don't even burden the state to educate their children - they do it themselves. They're a role model to this nation on how to parent children, oh! and none of their children do drugs or have been arrested.

Excellent post! I so agree! I would not want to have 19 children but I will not judge her and I feel like all their children are loved.

I don't watch the show but I see clips every now and then. It seems to me she could have at least waited until the first grandchild was born. It's almost like she wanted the attention so pops up with number 19.

I think it's beyond ridiculous.

I don't usually say anything about this family. They do seem like good people.

But I remember when the grandbaby on the way was announced, I bet that it wouldn't be long before Michelle was pregnant because she wouldn't want to lose being the center of attention.

IMO, when God said to Adam and Eve, be fruitful and multiply, there were not starving and abused children without homes. I'm sick of hearing of women having litters of children. I see nothing great about this. She is functioning as a brood sow. TLC is featuring them? So what else is new, they are using being able to reproduce as a tv event. GMAB.

Eh, my aunt and uncle had 16 children. These people don't impress me at all.

That is the exact thing I said when I first saw all the publicity they were getting. My grandma had 21 and they were also self sufficient, but no t.v. deals back then. They did make the paper though :)

yes,God only asks that we love, cherish and raise each child that we do have correctly..not that we have baby after baby after baby. And to honor God can be to take the time to cherish each one individually for a while, before jumping into it yet again. One is not favorable to the other.

I would never,I mean NEVER..willingly hand my daughter over to such a family where this would be expected of her.She is worthy of SO much more than being subjected to being treated as if she is a mass producer! She's a strong, educated, intelligent young lady with a good head on her shoulders and can hold the world on her own,and this is how I have raised her to be..not someone who is under the influence of a family who is misguided, misled and misreading the bible.
I've read that tired old line that some use in defense of the Duggars..that they are jealous of them. (implying others are as well).UM...NO WAY.I think this is crazy! Michelle has had 3 c-sections,a prolapsed uterus twice, and yet ends up pregnant again only 5 mo. after the last one is born.If her uterus doesn't split or fall out,she is going to be lucky. Not to mention the fact she could have a down syndrome baby or a baby with other age-related defects. She is really taking a huge chance.(and I believe in God as well, but I do believe God also gave us BRAINS to use and think with).
But I do wish them well and hope they have a healthy pregnancy, baby and birth.

I don't care to debate,as the name says.. JMO.

yes,I was really hoping they would take a step back and give their own son and new dil the limelight for a change..and if Michelle was pregnant again, they would not announce it until after their new gbaby was born.Guess not.

sry for the confusion,I wrote that wrong.I was agreeing with something else, not about being against adoption.I think adoption is great, and I would love to see the Duggars adopt..they don't believe in it though,as they follow Gothard's teachings.

I'm SO over the Duggar family. All I can say is that the unhealthy side of having so many children will eventually catch up to her. It may sound harsh but it's true.

While I agree the world needs more responsible people, I do not think having 19 children equates responsibility, or even responsible thinking.

Maybe I would agree with that when there are not children in this very country that are not starving to death, and that have adequate health care, education, and a place to live.

Heck, they are a loving family with good morals and live cleanly (much too clean for me  ), they are not dependent upon the State or any sort of social welfare program, they take care of their own and obviously think far into the future enough that they probably never will need outside help.

I think they have the right to have as many Duggers as Michelle can pop out until her uterus falls out or her eggs are all used up. Women are having "healthy" pregnancies and outcomes at fifty and sixty years of age nowadays. Pffft.

A Dugger overpopulation sounds better to me than the young dropped one after the other by crack heads. Someone has to populate the Earth, I'd prefer Duggers and their "type" over the other sorts of baby machines we hear about in the news.

Good, responsible (albeit eccentric) people who have a social conscience, don't use drugs, shun immoral behavior from birth . . . keep em comin' :D

I might not particularly like how the VOTE on a few things . . . but the more decent people in the world, the better.

Imagine a Dugger-issue person dropping their newborn in the toilet, or throwing it to the side of the road, or letting their boyfriend de jour shake it to death? Or give their baby meth or heroin? Or allow their child to be sexually abused to keep their "man" ? Hmmm. Not likely to happen.

I could be in the total minority here, but I actually like the Duggars. I'm not huge fans, or anything even remotely close, but I like the fact that (unlike Jon and Kate Plus 8 and other reality TV families) they don't let the fact that they have a TV show effect their morals and values. Some of their morals and values, I may not agree with, but I absolutely respect them for always staying true to what they believe in, no matter what anyone else thinks.

I'm all for big families (my husband and I have 7 very young children, and would love more) but 19 is just insane..I don't know how she does it.
