The window and the lights

Question? "IF" the window was used as an entry/exit point, would it be more likely a male or female to enter that way?

The window in question (computer room) is in the front, to the far right of the house (when facing the front of the house). Going left from that window would be the kitchen (and window) the front door, then the living room (and windows). Lisa's room is in the back of the house with a window that would face the back (however, note that photos I have seen of this room have the window covered with black plastic bags and duct tape). To the left of Lisa's room, in the back of the house, is the room where DB was sleeping.

Yes, there is a diagram somewhere here, as well as has been on TV.

I don't know if I can explain what i'm saying to where you can uderstand, but i'll try.

In that diagram, at the back of the lr was there like an island or small wall section you would have to walk around in either direction to get to the br doors? I am wondering if this went all the way from floor to ceiling and how much light woould go under doors (especially with carpet) if all the lights were on.

It has been discussed that some people (advised by FD) sleep with br doors closed for safety reasons in case of fire, maybe they did this?

If so, then if an intruder KNEW these things then maybe they would be comfortable turning on lights?

Deb left 2 lights on. When Jeremy came home there was one light on each room, except for one or two rooms.

(Also note Deb closed the doors to all rooms, so perp would have to open the door to each room & then turn light on.)

Is this true? I don't remember hearing this. I assumed they were talking about lights on in the comp room, kitchen and lr since the br doors were closed. Hmmmmm.....

An unknown intruder going into darkened rooms and turning on lights!?!? They couldn't see who was in there? Were they trying to wake up the whole house or something?

What if someone were sleeping in that room and they woke em up?

Dosen't make much sense.

I don't see how anybody could go through the window since the screen was still on it and it was bent. I suspect the screen got bent some other time by boys throwing a ball or something. Who would push a screen *into* the window if they were trying to get it off? I think the window is a red herring.

I think whoever took the baby is someone who lives in the house.

IMHO ....or was in the house that night. Thye may have attempted to go out the window or handed Lisa out the window. In the Lindbergh kidnapping the scenario that was presumed to be COD was that the baby's head hit on the sill.

I really think its possible her son woke up and turned on the lights in the middle of the night or morning...Am i the only one that has kids who make sure all the lights are on when they get up in the middle of the night before they come in my room?

Doesn't make any sense, imo. No intruder enters a house under the cover of darkness to abduct a child, and then goes around turning on all the lights. Unless, of course, this is the dumbest kidnapper in the history of kidnapping.

MOO, and all that jazz.

It's very possible especially considering that there was a new kitten running around the house too. Or did she put him and the kitten to bed in her room and close the door right off the bat. And why would this detail be left out of all the accounts?

We have gotten some strange and useless details, such as the kitten and the fact that she sometimes leaves windows open a crack when it's hot, but neither of them ever elaborate about the important stuff like what happened and when to help with the timeline. :waitasec:

im guessing the boy got up some time that night and went to parents room..because it was said the father was surpirsed the boy was in the parents bed iirc

Well if he did then he brought the kitten with him. So where did the kitten start the night? Did he turn on the lights to find it before going into Mom's bedroom? I believe DB said on the JP interview that she had him in there because she used to sleep with her "children" when they were younger and she likes to take the opportunity to do so when she can...or something like that. That evening would have been a good opportunity because JI was not going to be home until the early morning hours. Since he didn't seem to know that the child was going to sleep with mom...where was he expected to go to sleep when he got home?

It sounds to me like she put the younger boy to bed in her room...with the kitten...but at what time? But of course it's never been clarified.

Geez! I hadn't opened this thread but just replied to a post about the "lights" on another. Here's what I said:

The thing about the lights bothers me, too, but maybe it's just a case of different strokes for different folks. DH has never worked night shifts, but we have lights on timers in our house all the time. We also have a few landscape lights because our subdivision has no streetlights other than at the main entrance. Each lot has a post-lamp that the HOA would like to be illuminated at night, but this can't be enforced since individual homeowners pay the electric bill. Ours is on 24/7 - it's actually lit right now because it's very cloudy (post lamp bulb is light-sensitive). I'm sure that neighbors of the Irwins would be able to provide details about how the house was lit at different times of the day and in different seasons. jmo

I just posted this in another thread thinking I was here, so copied over.

Just a thought, but maybe the llights were left on so the intruder could watch the results of his actions (like watch the reaction when mom and or dad discovered the baby missing) If the perp is near by the lit up house would show up really good and he could watch this play out. IDK this thought was passing through my head and I just had to spill!

I have to believe that the parents quizzed the boys about whether they had turned on lights before LE arrived.

DB is claiming that she turned off the lights. She is not indicating that either of the boys turned them on or that either of them claimed they did. Which would lead me to conclude that the parents are going with the abductor turned the lights on theory.

Was there a litter box in the house for the kitten? Although I wouldn't think a stray would know how to use one but what was the plan for it's washroom habits. Was it let out to go to the washroom before bedtime? Did it make it through the night without an accident? Did it scratch and cry at the door to get out of the bedroom?

These are the nagging little details that bother me.

I taught stray kittens to use a litter box in about 5 minutes. Cats are instinctively clean animals, and the litterbox set up replicates natural feline potty instincts almost exactly, so they get it quickly. That's been my experience anyway.

Link floor plan link from Shelby's timeline, thank you and to Carriebean also!

Lisa's room is at the back of the house, right in the middle of the other 2 bedrooms. Kitchen is in the front of the house next to the computer room. Hmmm.

thanks for bringing this over -so is this a two-story house? Where is the bathroom? If it is on another floor and I had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night - I think I would need some lights on.

Enactment of when dad comes through door, why would he go to computer room first and see the window open? Is it near the front door?

This is a good question. The open vs. closed window would not be obvious at night from the outside. Once inside, it is not on his route to the bedroom or kitchen. Why did he even notice it at 4AM?

Possibly because the light was on in the room which made him look in that direction when he drove/walked up to the house?

Yes. Or possibly he went in there to shut off the light and noticed the window then.

Also, that floor plan isn't exactly accurate. If you watch this video, at the beginning, they show the interior (at least part of it). I think that part starts at .49

Inside the home

I think in the video of LE climbing in the window the screen doesnt appear to be latched when they do the reenactment (notice they call it a reenactment FWIW) I believe LE was metal detecting the front yard for the screen latch or two. JMO.

Wonder if we could get the media to confirm if they are there or if they are mising?

Beanie I think posted the video on the thread already.

Anyway if someone did break the latches it would sorta explain why the screen was wedged in the corner and preventing the window from closing. In a hurry someone would want it to stay up on the house instead of setting in in the yard. Also JMO.
