A Memphis family is seeking answers days after their loved one disappeared and his house went up in flames.

72-year-old Edwin Irby went missing Tuesday. Memphis Police issued a City Watch for his disappearance.

“I dropped him off about 2 o’clock because he had a doctor’s appointment, and he said he was going to get some rest, so after that, I’ve never seen him since then,” said Cecelia Mitchell, Uncle Mike’s niece.

According to Memphis Fire officials, hours later, Irby’s house of 30 years on Pecan Circle in the Third World area accidentally went up in flames Wednesday around 3:30 a.m.

MFD said the cause was due to multiple generators supplying power to the house. However, Irby was nowhere to be found.

I hate to say this ... but could he have died in the fire and they just haven't found him yet ?
Was it possible he want on a walk and got lost, as in a confused state ?
The link mentioned he is on meds.
Hope he is ok somewhere.
He could still be very alert even at his age.
Does he have friends who maybe received a text from him ?
Wondering if he has a phone, and his phone is with him.
Omo.

Startling that there is a neighborhood in Memphis referred to as the "Third World", and deeply sad that a 72 year old was using generators to power his home.

"The identity of the person and the cause of death is unknown at this time; however, family members say the house across the street from where the remains were found belongs to 72-year-old Edwin Irby"

This is confusing because in other news stories the finding of the body is referred to as an unrelated incident. However it appears police were called for an unrelated incident and happened to find remains.
