Search continues for missing Putnam County couple

PUTNAM COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) - A couple vanishes and their family fears the worst as an exhaustive manhunt continues in Putnam County.

Kristie and Henry Wilson were last seen by family, in Monterey one month ago.

Family and friends have spent much of their time along Putnam County back roads, hoping to spot the two.

"Henry picked her up from my aunt's house in Monterey around 8:00, May 9th. No one has seen or heard from them since," said Kimberly Rediker, Kristie's sister. "I just feel like two people with a vehicle don't just vanish without someone noticing."

Family wasted no time filing a missing person's report through Monterey Police, and spreading the word online. An investigation soon followed.

Monterey Police have since been involved in an exhaustive search, and found that one of the couple's cell phones last pinged off a cell tower, off Highway 85 somewhere between Allred, and Wilder.

Family and police have spent much of their free time scouring fields and roadside ditches around the county.

"Places in this area that i never knew existed, places that only horses and four wheelers can get to," said Murphy. "It's disheartening to know we've looked as hard as we can look, and can't find anything."

Kristie and Henry have dated now 10 years.

"Their relationship has been rocky, but nothing points to any foul play amongst each other," said Rediker. "I think wherever they are, they are together."

The last possible sighting of the two, was at a gas station in Monterey two weeks ago. Family says the two may be driving a dark gray, older model Nissan Sentra.

There is a $5,000 reward for information leading to the location of Kristie and Henry.

The area where the last cell pings originated is pretty remote. I see that the old Sentra they were driving in had bad tires. Maybe a tire blew and they ran off the road (Wilder Road is what I'm looking at on Google Street View) down one of those steep embankments/hillsides. A car could be hidden indefinitely in a place like this.

Months later, Overton County found the couple's car after a tip came in. It was found at the bottom of ravine near a place called Insurance Hill or Insurance Ravine off Hanging Limb Highway. The car had plants growing in it, but no signs of Kristie or Henry.

The family was not surprised by this. They hired a private detective months prior and believe they know exactly what happened, down to the details.

"Henry and suspect 1 got into a fight over a drug deal. Suspect 1 shoots Henry, Kristie starts screaming and suspect two shoots Kristie twice in the back of the head."

And this is supposed to be on the tape: Several people have told family they have heard this audio from someone’s phone. But where is the sound people have claimed to hear?

And where are the bodies? Family members have been searching the endless hills and ravines, the caves and woods all over sparsely populated Overton County. They said they aren't searching for a killer or clues anymore - they just want to find Kristie's body. They want to bury her next to her mom in Monterey.

A man and woman out of Cookeville have been missing over a year. The TBI is now asking for help finding them. 40-year-old Kristie Wilson and 47-year-old Henry Wilson have been missing since last May.

Their car was found last September abandoned in Fentress County. The TBI says while they have the same last name, they are not married.

Killed over a drug deal? Was either of them known to use or sell drugs previously? It’s bizarre there is an audio?

Rediker and Murphy said they have received multiple tips that the couple was murdered, with callers providing a specific location; however, the agencies involved in the investigation have never confirmed or denied if they believe the two are deceased.

A $5,000 reward was initially offered by Rediker and Murphy for information leading to Kristie Wilson’s whereabouts, but they doubled that reward to $10,000 in January 2021.
