Found Deceased TN - Mark "Shoestring" Nichols, 53, missing from Johnson City 27 Mar 2024

WCYB-TV from Bristol, Virginia is reporting that the Tennessee Burrau of Investigations has issued a Silver Alert for Mark "Shoestring" Nichols who has been missing since Wednesday March 27, 2024.

Mark "Shoestring" Nichols is a 53 year old white male, height is 6 feet 1 inch tall, has blue eyes, brown hair, and a long gray white beard. He has two missing fingers on his left hand.

Mark "Shoestring" Nichols is known to ride trains.

He also has several medical conditions that may impair his ability to return safely without assistance.

He was last seen by his family at his residence at 3:00 a.m. on March 27.

A family friend who is a member of the rail fan community posted an update video on YouTube about the disappearance of Mark "Shoestring" Nichols.

At the time of his disappearance, Mark "Shoestring" Nichols left all of his personal belongings at home.

He left his hobo gear behind consisting of his bucket, hats, tarps, and boots, and also left his medication at home.

The family friend mentioned that Mark "Shoestring" Nichols would not be without his hobo gear when riding the rails.

Mark "Shoestring" Nichols has a strong online presence with the rail fan community and has his own video channel with YouTube.

WJHL-TV from Johnson City, Tennessee is reporting that at Mark "Shoestring" Nichols had left behind his phone, wallet, and medication at the time of his disappearance.
