The decedent was recovered in the vicinity of Ocean Pkwy, Gilgo Beach, New York on 4/4/11. This case was linked via DNA to the adult recovered (NamUs UP # 11652).

Namus #11652 is Peaches. The toddler's DNA is linked to Peaches DNA.

Mother or wife, my guess would be the latter. I wonder when they first went into production. Could the manufacturer clarify? They sometimes hold those kinds of records.

But what if the sham is from Peaches' house? Or, what if Peaches is the girlfriend?

Don't forget a red or maroon towel was also found with the toddler. The killer is obviously not worried about things going missing because no one is going to be looking for the items.

I tried to find as much as I can on Watsumma products. I'm fairly certain Watsumma was purchased by Bed Bath and Beyond in 2012 and now exclusively sold in Bed Bath and Beyond. Prior to that, they were a big brand in Bed Bath and Beyond. It seems they were in Marshall Fields, but that store was not in the east coast. I can't find any mention of them in K-Mart and K-Mart started a Martha Stewart line of beddings in 1997. I checked everything I could find on JC Penny, Macys and Sears also and found nothing. I'm fairly certain Walmart, Target, and Kohls werent in the NY area back then. I was able to find mention of Watsumma in Loehmanns in 1990. They had about 100 stores, with its largest presents in the NY area. They closed all there stores in 2014 and only operate a web site
There is a possibilty they could have been sold as at a mom and pop store, but I doubt it.


Based on what I've been able to find, I'd say purchase was made at either a Loehmanns or a Bed Bath and Beyond, probably at Bed Bath and Beyond.

Why not throw the towel and sham out somewhere else so that as little as possible can lead back to his identity? At this point he should have left the latex glove he was wearing too if he had one on. And I'm pretty sure he had a glove on otherwise there should be fingerprints all over that Rubbermaid tub.

My other question: We're talking about an unwashed pillow sham here. No hairs? Absolutely no DNA?

Can we put up postings all over Massapequa / Hempstead are asking if anyone recognizes the sham?

True, I have floral sheets and bedding from N. M. not only on my marital bed but in my guest bedrooms, however if one piece was missing including a sham or even a towel I would know it. Plus what SK will leave that blood behind in a home he shares with a partner? After a dismemberment? Unless it was her place or their place? but wouldn't the landlord know she was missing or if it was her husband perhaps he said she moved south or somewhere with the child and he would soon follow them? It would give him time to clean up the place. I also believe only the significant other would buy matching jewelry for a child and a mother of the child. The mother was biracial. Jim Burke was attracted to biracial woman. JMO perhaps he was tired of her? Could she had been another prostitute that he took in or had an affair with? therefore she never reported her missing, and no one questioned it when his girl left with the baby, because he fluffed it over and no one questioned him?

The photos were in the local newspapers at the time. Who had control over the items? and passing it on for DNA. Suffolk County LE. There had to be DNA On something or in the tub.

My understanding, correct me if I am wrong, is that Peaches found in June of 1997 is the mother of the unidentified toddler who's remains were found in 2011. The torso found in 1997 was estimated to be about three days deceased. If we assume that mother and child were killed at the same time, then the child was also murdered around June of 1997. Which would make that child's birth year sometime between 1993 and 1996 correct? So, we assume 2 things here that either this child was born after peaches went missing, and therefore no living relatives were aware of the child, therefore no report, or there is a report somewhere out there for a mother and daughter missing in that timeframe and no dots have been connected. Can birth records be searched by state and year? I also wonder if databases, like criminal databases have been searched for familial dna matches to the woman or the child. If this woman was an escort or prostitute it is possible that she may have a relative in the system?
