Hey Hope, does Travis write in his journal anything about his computer and viruses and/or having Taylor try to wipe the viruses off? I recall mention that Taylor helped him with this but not exactly when. I started watching the retrial videos again and June 1st is the YouPorn visit, just wondering when Taylor helped him in relation to this date. Thanks.

Nothing in his journal about that, but the journal began in March 2008 replacing the one she'd stolen.

He put on Spybot on May 27 after Windows crashed. Before that I seem to remember Taylor said he'd helped Travis way earlier...maybe even before 2007, not sure. But pretty definitely not between Dec 2007 and June 08 because I think there wld have been something in texts.

Okie dokie, thanks Hope! I didn't want to have to go back and rewatch the hard drive hearings but also I thought it came out that the hard drive had been wiped (or browser scrubbed, something of this nature that was made to sound devious) a couple days before he died, and I was thinking that might have been when Taylor helped him with the viruses. Wish my memory didn't get hazy so fast, arg.

Aside...It makes me less sure about having a good grasp on exchanges between Travis and friends to see that Taylor worked on his computer without any texts exchanges with Travis...IF...

The link, Geevee, is a quick summary by BK of Taylor talking with her about working on T's computer to wipe *advertiser censored* he said was on there from a roommate using the computer.

Taylor said he worked on it in 2007, but didn't remember when in 2007. The roommate or roommates were not the same as those T had in 2008.

I can't quite put my finger on it but I think the May 22 text (I'm not mad but I know what you did...) may have something to do with Maria M (not Maria Avila). I'll type the texts between Travis and Maria M that immediately preceded Travis's text to JA on May 22. This is one and only time Travis texted with Maria M ever. I think Maria M is from LDS Linkup.

So JA is posing as Maria M? Did JA hijack Maria's account or set up a new account as Maria M? Why would she do that? My non-criminal mind can't follow JA's sick motive. Did JA have 2 cell phones with 2 different phone numbers to work with? One for Maria, one for herself?
Maybe Travis realized Maria's number has the USA area code, not the England country code and got suspicious?

Maybe I'm over imagining everything.

NOTHING would surprise me about what she might have done to destroy him..

Oh good Lord. WTH was Travis thinking? He texted "Sean H" every last bit of his (new?) credit card info on May 5 or 6, including security code and a password into whatever account Sean was setting up/ accessing for Travis.

1st week in May. Put Mimi's name on Cancun ticket. Mourned losing Lisa, said he'd be marrying her were it not for Mimi (I'm reading JA there), posted intro to his book on blog and was very actively soliciting feedback, Deanna expresses how happy she is, looking forward the her new job, Travis gets stood up by Talie who ubruptly tells him she doesn't want to be used by him (odd conversation, that comes out of the blue, and she misrepresents what T has been saying to her. He's reasonable with her texting, but unhappy with her not texting to cancel. She blames him for not calling even though they had already made plans). (Killer interference?)

Sean M, sorry, and Travis hired Sean to set up/improve upon his blogsite. OMG. He texted not only his full cc info to Sean, but his passwords to SM accounts. ( all by May 8 or so).

So, remember the killer begging him on May 5 to drop everything and go visit her in Yreka? She went after him hard to go, but he told her he couldn't because he had promised Taylor he'd go to Taylor's party.

Oops. Travis didn't go to Taylor's party. He texted Taylor afterwards that he was sorry, that he'd been out with Mimi and had turned his phone off .

ETA: All of the texts are down for now. You can blame me in part for that, for apparently breaking the rules about what is allowed to be posted here.

UT likely means Utah? If this "Marie M" (JA) was registered with the LDS dating site using an IP address in England, then JA's ability to spoof/snoop was extraordinary. Not in a "wow, she's a tech wiz" kind of way ... in an obsessive kind of way.

And while we're on her 'tech prowess" ... IMO, GS is somehow integral to JA getting her hands on the necessary programs/know-how. His involvement with JA and PPL has always struck me as odd, meaning IMO he had an ulterior reason to use JA as a conduit for bringing TA down a notch in the PPL universe.

Does the Hughes book explore what was happening with PPL politics at the time of TA's death? Wasn't TA in danger of losing his Executive Whatever title with PPL?

IIRC, there was a fair amount of turmoil in PPL in 2008. And JA inserted herself in the middle of this by passing on to TA emails from certain folks involved in this power play. Any thoughts how GS might have benefited from TA's 'fall from grace?"

IF the killer had remote access to TA's phone (including texts) then from at least May 8th through May 21 the killer also knew everything she needed to know to access ALL of his SM accounts that were attached in any way to his blog.

She would also know the password to his blog (Travis texted it to Sean) so could sign in as him and view any of the private messages sent to his blog account.

Sure do agree with you that Maria is JA. It was on May 13 2008 that TA wrote in his journal about finding "women" online, something he didn't usually do, and that one was so great she was almost too good to true. Right.

He never mentions her again in the journal.

When I read those texts, though, I have the distinct feeling that Travis knew pretty early on (as he said) that Maria wasn't who she said she was- and that he knew it was the killer.

He uses the exact same language to "Maria" that he does with the killer on May 26, about coming clean, that it would be good for her. The WHOLE truth. I really think he knew, which is why he busted her those few minutes later on the 22.

Referring back to May 26, he says to the killer, why did you still try to cover it up even after I told you I knew?

(Her still babbling on about being a good tour guide in England, etc).

He was really trying to get her to stop lying. She just wouldn't.

I'd be willing to bet that Travis told "Maria" he knew she lived in England as a trap. It was within minutes of saying that, then telling the killer to come clean, and instead, her doubling down by inviting him to England (fgs- who else but JA ) that he texted the killer- BUSTED.

PS about the her phones. She had 2 Helios, at least, the one that wasn't stolen or missing and the 2nd Helio which she conned into by saying the 1st was stolen.

I think she also had at least one more phone- the Motorola RAZR that she didn't drop into a cup of cocoa in the UHaul.

Unless Gus paid all her phone bills, I'm guessing JM knows all about the multiple phones. Maybe he'll write about this too in his book.
