Monday, May 3rd:
*Trial set to begin (@ am CET) - France – Arthur Noyer (24) (April 11-12, 2017, Chambéry (Savoie); skull found Sept. 2017) - *Nordahl Lelandais (34/now 38) indicted (12/20/17) with “assassination”.
Trial set to begin on 5/3/21 thru 5/12/21. Court of Assizes of Savoy with 3 professional magistrates & 6 jurors.
2/10/20 Update: The Chambéry prosecutor's office requested that Lelandais should be indicted for muer in the case of Noyer, & no longer for assassination (premeditation). Initially indicted for assassination in December 2017. Prosecutor's said NL had an intention to kill Noyer at the time the events took place, but that he had not premeditated his action. The maximum sentence incurred will be reduced from life imprisonment to 30 years in prison.
6/19/20 Update: The examining magistrates of Chambéry have referred (indicted) Lelandais to the Savoy court for the "murder" of Corporal Arthur Noyer in April 2017, the prosecutor's office of Chambéry announced Friday 19 June. The magistrates having followed the requisitions of the public prosecutor's office, the family of the young soldier who wanted the qualification of "assassination" (which introduces premeditation) will not be able to appeal. Only the defence of the accused may lodge an appeal. The deadline for appealing to the investigating chamber is 10 days from the notification of this decision to the person concerned. Trial will start in the Spring of 2021. 7/1/20 Update: The defense of Lelandais announced on Thursday that they will not appeal the indictment order of the investigating judges of Chambéry requesting the referral of Lelandais to the Assize Court of Savoy for the murder of Arthur Noyer. "Although we are disputing the homicidal intent," Alain Jakubowicz, lawyer for Lelandais, said in a statement that this decision was taken "so as not to delay the trial date."

5/13/21 Update: Defense attorney is asking that Durst to be released on bail to a medical facility as he has bladder cancer. Which could delay the trial. In the defense's motion, Durst's attorneys say a criminal trial is “mentally, physically & emotionally draining.” “It is grueling for a healthy individual, let alone a 78-year-old man with serious health conditions, including bladder cancer, prior esophageal cancer, malnutrition, coronary artery disease with drug eluting stents, atrial fibrillation & chronic kidney disease,” attorneys Dick DeGuerin, David Z. Chesnoff, Chip B. Lewis & Donald M. Re wrote in the filing. “Here, if Mr. Durst is forced to undergo the rigors of trial (and trial preparation), he faces serious risks to his health, and possibly to his life.” It was not immediately clear whether prosecutors will file a written response to the defense's motion or wait to respond at a court hearing Monday morning, just before jurors are due back in court for a one- to two-day orientation. The judge said earlier this year that he will allow attorneys to give abbreviated opening statements anew due to the lengthy disruption of the trial, which has been moved from the Airport Courthouse in Los Angeles to a larger courtroom at the nearby courthouse in Inglewood because of concerns about social distancing. Trial begins on 5/17/21.

Jurors began deliberating at the end of the day Wednesday after closing arguments in the case that hinges a still photo of security video showing Biles-Thomas entering the party & the testimony of two people who said he fired a weapon inside: Macquise Lewis & Jozette Brown. Closing arguments came after Judge Synenberg earlier on Wednesday dismissed one count of felonious assault that Biles-Thomas faced in the shooting of Brown for lack of evidence & barred prosecutors from using Biles-Thomas’ search history showing he checked WOIO Channel 19 a few hours after the shooting as evidence that he lied about not knowing his cousin had died. Jury continues deliberating on 5/21/21.
