The truck in San Antonio had the same color and identifying numbers from the federal Department of Transportation and the Texas DOT as a _________ Trucking and Harvesting truck, the
Alamo-based* trucking company’s owners said. But the cloned truck does not bear the company’s logo, as the business’ other trucks do.
One of the owners said the company’s truck has not been to San Antonio recently and has been hauling grain from Harlingen to Progreso.
“Our [refrigerated trailer] is sitting right in the yard,” Felipe ________ Jr. told the Express-News. “That one in San Antonio is not our trailer.”
* Alamo-based refers to Alamo, Texas a small town in the Rio Grande Valley about 200 miles from San Antonio.
Someone labeled the truck containing the migrants with the same color and
identifying numbers from the U.S. Department of Transportation and the Texas DOT as a truck that their company owns.
Of the 53 dead, twenty-two were from Mexico, seven from Guatemala and two from Honduras, Mexican Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard said. The rest of the migrants are still being identified.

In recent arrests, over 70 people have been smuggled in one truck. (Migrants were not harmed, in those but the sheer numbers in the trucks appears to be increasing)
In 1987, 2003 and 2017, groups of migrants died of heat and dehydration in Texas after being trapped in stifling containers. Hundreds more die alone or in smaller groups as desperation drives them to take fatal risks.
