NEW CHARGE: David Anthony Burns is facing a new charge, unrelated to his arrest for second degree murder for the 2004 death of Courtney Coco. The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office says they booked him for obscenity today in the jail. He’s still behind bars on a $500,000 bond on the murder charge.

ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) — A man accused of killing a 19-year-old Louisiana woman in 2004 and dumping her body in Texas told people details that police never made public, a detective says.

Alexandria Police Detective Tanner Dryden told a judge that David Anthony Burns, 45, of Boyce, mentioned such details to two or three people, The Town Talk reported.

A trial that was scheduled to begin on Aug. 8, 2022 for David Burns, 46 of Boyce, will be continued due to a scheduling conflict with another trial for the case’s prosecutor.
