An investigation is underway in the discovery of human bones in northeast Harris County.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences confirmed the remains found are indeed human.
The remains were discovered Thursday afternoon at the 11800 block of Fendell Street at Furay Road.
During an interview, Gonzalez said a homeowner found what appeared to be a human skull after their dog brought it back home.

Investigators are combing the area and said they located other pieces, Gonzalez said. Deputies are considering the case a homicide until proven otherwise.
Gonzalez said there were some burned spots near where the remains were found, but said it hadn't been determined if the burned areas were related to the human bones.
Deputies who patrol the area described it as desolate and dark at night, Gonzalez said. Other debris at the scene, including a couch, indicated that it is also considered a dumping ground, he said.
