# My speculations /opinions /queries are below.

IMO Mr. Perez and UID890 have a strong possibility as a match! The only scenarios I can come up with is that Mr. Perez either met with foul play somewhere along his route to the family BBQ in San Antonio, TX (no info on where he's traveling from), he got lost along his route and somehow ended up in La., or he intentionally left Texas and headed to La. At that point any number of possibilities would explain how he ended up in a swamp including suicide, accident, and murder.

I wonder whether he knew anyone in La. or someplace where he'd have to travel through St. Tammany Parish as part of his journey? What was his state of mind at the time? Was he still in the military, assuming his uniform in the MP photo was issued by a branch of the military?

To family's or anyone else's knowledge is it possible he was involved in any kind of shady dealings or had assets or a substantial amount of cash that may have put him in danger of harm? UID's hands and limbs were not found. This could be due to decomp. and/or trauma of some sort. He was not recognizable and was partially skeletonized. He wore Wrangler jeans and Nike tennis shoes. Mr. Perez, at 23yo, most likely would have been comfy in Nike tennies and being from Texas, y'all it's not unreasonable to think he'd wear Wrangler jeans--these aren't gabardine pants. :p

TIA

Good catch YaYa IMO. I wonder if he does have any family still looking for, and wondering what happened to, JP? 1993 was really the beginning of the Internet, and a lot more information might still be found in the library archives.

Ty, Jim. :)

Yeah I'm hoping the professional/more seasoned Sleuthers will pass by and do their thaaaang. ;) They always amaze me with the info. they find. Hopefully we can get Johnny back home and UID890 his name back. Fingers crossed!

I wasn't very successful sleuthing any more info on Johnny. I guess too, even if I did I'd still wonder whether he's a match with St. Tammany Doe. Mysteries bother me. ;):D

:) I've decided to submit Johnny as potential match to St. Tammany Parish Doe. Imo he deserves a test. Hopefully they'll have all the DNA, dentals, prints, etc. to compare. I'll report back if/when I receive any correspondence. I'll work on getting in touch with case contacts Monday (2/25/19).

Fingers crossed!

Hi, @Sammymarie. I have not heard back from anyone at the LSU Faces lab. You should consider calling the lab to inquire about the comparison. The ME would be more likely to speak with a family member rather than some random person from an internet submission. I'd also suggest contacting the investigator on Johnny's case to request they contact the medical examiner about the comparison. I hope and pray you get answers soon.

In 2009, Jack Lee King was sentenced to 60 years for the 1993 murder in San Antonio of 23-year-old Johnny Perez, whose body was never found. Witnesses said King killed Perez after a barbecue, shooting him in the front seat of his car then driving away. There was no physical evidence against King, who was also charged with two later murders. It took 16 years for witnesses to come forward.

Jurors assessed a 60-year sentence Wednesday for Jack Lee King, who was on trial for the 1993 murder of a 23-year-old whose body was never found. Two more murder trials - for a cold case dating back to 1995 - are still pending against King, and prosecutors indicated Wednesday they still plan to move forward with them.

However, at some point, Wright said, Perez got into the passenger seat of King's car while King was gone. King returned with a gun and shot Perez at close range, Wright said witnesses will testify. [snip] ...King later told him that he had last seen Perez at a gas station, where Perez left with some girls.

Thank you I spoke to investigator they missed a lot I think personally his testimony’s about his murder didn’t get submitted or spoken about in 14 years so they convicted a man with no body just a bunch of witnesses who came forward after 14 years how is that plausible . How are they not accounted for not coming forward , im trying to find out everything I can now and read all the case. There Are somethings confusing or typos in the paper work that are confusing to me . It’s hard to know what to believe . His killer says he didn’t kill mad dad other people testified he did , he says he doesn’t know where the body is ! I’m debating on writing him and seeing if he will let me come talk to him
