Oh my gosh, how strange. A boy, 14, in the 8th grade. All I can find on this is a woman walking her dog found him in the woods and the scene was gruesome.

Oh and the school sent out an automated message to parents that a student died. That makes it sound as if the student may have been in a car accident or something, not gruesomely murdered. That just seems weird to me.

The way they say he was found "off campus" sounds like he went missing during the school day and was found close by. Perhaps fellow students had something to do with this?

Okay this is getting even stranger. The boy was found on Monday and wasn't identified until today? His parents didn't report him missing?

And this is the second body found in the same area within two weeks. I don't know if the two are related, I tend to believe the boy was killed by someone who knew him. But it's still odd.

Last Monday police said another man's body, which was headless, was found in the reservoir near the dam. Police said the body appeared to have been in the water for some time, but no further information was released.

His name has finally been released.

As Stovall middle school let out for the week, Gustavo Guzman can't believe he will never see his friend Jose Meraz in class again.

"He was like a real calm person, no problems, he would come everyday to play soccer," said Guzman, who lived in the same apartment complex as Meraz.

The 14-year-old can be seen smiling in his Facebook posts. He was an eighth grade student at Stovall. But on September 15, a person walking his dog discovered a body in a heavily wooded area in west Houston. Two days later, classmates and friends would learn it was Meraz.

"It makes me feel bad. I'm even stuttering, I can't even talk right," said Joseph Juarez, whose younger brother attended classes with Meraz. "I just saw him at my house (last week.)"

Channel 13 news just reported Jose was stabbed to death in what they described as a brutal murder. He lived with his cousins and is from Honduras, where his mom still lives. She has been notified of her son's murder.

WHY didn't his cousins' family ever report him missing? How strange.

What a handsome, sweet looking boy.

But the heartless person or persons who brutally killed the 14-year-old boy, still remains a mystery. Investigators are hoping someone will soon come forward with more information...

Family members tell FOX 26 News that days before Mezra was killed, he was being harassed by local gang members to join their group. Parents, who came to pay their final respects, couldn't help but wonder if their kids are now in danger as well.

“That really scares me especially with my kids," says Isidro Juarez, a concerned parent. "There could be a kid at your house and you don't even know he's a gang member, but this kid here, he was not in a gang. From what I hear, they were trying to get him in and he didn't want to get in. That's what they did to him.”

So sad that Jose was brutally murdered, and because he refused to join a gang. Very scary, too, for his classmates and their parents knowing that those responsible for Jose's murder are still out there, looking for other victims. I hope anyone with information on this crime will have the guts to report it to LE so other innocent kids can be spared.
