SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Police Department needs the public help in locating an 8-month-old baby who was taken Friday night while inside of a car.

Police said 8-month-old King Jay Davila was taken inside his father's car on the 300 block of Enrique Barrera near Southwest 34th Street Friday night. The father drove into a gas station and parked, leaving the car running with the door open. A woman was walking down the street, hopped into the car and drove off with the baby in the backseat. Police have a lot of the incident on video.

The car was found nearby by Rodriguez Park with the baby and keys missing.

Police said they believe the father knew of the woman who drove off with the baby, and the story is not adding up. The father is being questioned and the mother appeared very distraught.

Authorities said they believe the incident is a set up.

The baby was last seen wearing a blue onesie and has a scratch over his left eye. Police ask you call 911 immediately if you find him.

He was supposed to have trial in March, but I'm sure that was postponed. Last I have on my notes is this:

8/15/19 Update: Trial set to begin for all charges has been moved to 10/22/19.
10/22/19 Update: Trial has been postponed. Davila looking to make a plea deal with State. Set trial date on 2/18/20.
2/18/20 Update: Defense rejects DA’s 50 year sentence plea deal. Trial set for March. No update as of 4/8.

On the 7/13 date - "trial date set" - I don't think this is the actual trial date - but a hearing to "set" the trial date.... at least that's how I'm understanding it. It was like that on another case I'm following here. So I shall go with that understanding.

Community comes together to raise money for vandalized King Jay mural

SAN ANTONIO – More than $1,000 was raised in a couple of days to help pay for the repair of a memorial mural dedicated to 8-month-old King Jay Davila.

“There’s a lot of sentimental value behind this mural, and I just don’t understand. I can’t fathom how or why anybody could do something like this,” McGill said. “This was meant for them, for his five brothers that are at home that are wondering what happened to their brother because they’re too young to understand what has happened.”

McGill said the mural serves several purposes, one of which is to ensure that child abuse deaths don’t keep happening.

(reported missing Jan. 4, 2019, San Antonio; found Jan. 10, 2019 in a field wrapped in a blanket inside of a black backpack) – for *Christopher Sampayo Davila (34/now 35) “father” arrested (1/10/19), charged (1/11/19), indicted (4/3/19) & arraigned (4/4/19) with injury to a child, child endangerment, tampering with evidence, & altering/destroying/concealing a human corpse. Indicted (4/3/19) with possession of a controlled substance & being a felon in possession of a firearm. Plead not guilty. $1.25M Bond.
Tried to stage a fake kidnapping. Police Chief William McManus said Davila was pressured by the evidence against him & ultimately confessed to burying his son in an open field. Investigators later found the burial site near Davila's Northeast Side home & recovered the baby's body on 1/10/19.
