34-year-old woman missing from Midtown

Houston police are looking for a 34-year-old woman who was last seen Saturday in the Midtown area.

Laura Read is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs approximately 130 pounds.

Read was last seen in the 3300 block of Smith Street around 7 p.m. Saturday.

Texas EquuSearch has joined the effort Sunday to find a 34-year-old woman reported missing over the weekend in the Midtown area, according to investigators.

Laura Read was last seen in the 3300 block of Smith Street about 7 p.m. Saturday.

She is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 130 pounds. Police said she has blue eyes and blonde hair. No description was given of her clothing.

Texas EquuSearch has launched a ground search, including volunteers on foot and ATVs, to aid in the search.

The search staging location will be at the shopping center on the 1400 block of Gray Street in Houston, organizers said.

If you have any information regarding her whereabouts, please call the Houston Police Department missing persons unit at 832-394-1840 or HPD patrol at 713-884-3131.

•Texas EquuSearch has joined police efforts to find the 34-year-old woman after she was last seen about 7 p.m. Saturday in the 3300 block of Smith Street in Midtown.
•The child and her vehicle were found at a shopping center in the 1400 block of Gray Street
•Read is still missing.
•the child was a little less than a year old.
•KHOU 11 is awaiting confirmation on the relationship between Read and the child.

According to an update issued by Texas EquuSearch on Sunday afternoon, Read took her boyfriend to work Saturday evening and then went to a shopping center on West Gray Street. Someone later reported finding her child alone in a car.

"The baby was found in the vehicle, and when they ran the tag number and found out who it was, they realized that we got a mother that's missing," said Tim Miller with Texas EquuSearch. "When you find out about a baby in a vehicle and [a] mom missing, it puts a whole new twist on a missing woman."

“"She was in great spirits, she was doing great, hopefully, she still is," Randy said.

The baby is safe and with family. On Sunday, search crews panned out across the Montrose area for hours trying to find any sign of Lacie.

"We went to construction sites, checked inside so many dumpsters, we got flyers out too," said Tim Miller with Texas Equusearch.

But nothing yet. Miller says there weren't surveillance cameras in the parking lot and they too are fearing the worst as each hour goes by.

"Time is critical," said Miller. "We don't see any mothers leaving a baby in the car especially babies less than a year old that's for sure. We've had a lot of miracles in 20 plus years we've been doing this and we're just hoping for another one today.““
