HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A northeast Houston family is asking the public for help finding their 22-year-old son, whose car was found by police burned on the inside.

Luis Rangel was reported missing May 17 after his family said he didn't show up for work the following morning.

"He was wearing a black cap, a red shirt, and blue jeans," said Rangel's cousin Marco Martinez. "To help us, so his parents can be happier. They have been stressed out all weekend, sleepless nights and everything."

Police say his Nissan Altima was found at 16498 Saybrook St. in Greenspoint, near 1-69 and Greens Road.

Arson investigators visited the home of Rangel's family Wednesday to gather more information.

The family is hoping anyone who may have seen Rangel reaches out to authorities.

This link above that GuyfromCanada posted has a photo of Luis and a little more information. It states he was at his girlfriend's and called him Mom to let her know he was his way home and he never arrived. He's an only child so his parents are obviously very upset.

That’s so scary! It’s not often we hear of the missing person’s car found burned, and a good outcome. I hope he was just carjacked and they left him alone. Maybe he was hit in the head during and can’t remember anything. YES, I’m truly reaching, but I’m just throwing a theory out there. I hope he’s found soon. jmo

From an earlier article:

“Luis Rangel was reported missing May 17, and was last seen near Jensen Drive and Tidwell Road late that night. He had called his mother to say he was coming home, but never made it.

"He's a very good kid," said family friend Andrea Reyes. "He comes home every night, he's a hard worker, he graduated. He's the only child this couple has and we're very concerned because, he's not a problematic child or anything like that."”
