I might be wrong about the mini buses. It seems from Companies House that Alexandru-Ovidiu Hanga (Romanian National) was the Director of a haulage company, dissolved a couple of years ago. Hobart Rd Tilbury does not look as if he has splashed any cash on an expensive house, unlike MR.

The dissolved company, ANOH Haulage, had an address which is another residential location in Tilbury- the Google Street View picture shows a For Sale Board outside.

The 43 year old man arrested at Frankfurt Airport at the end of January is supposed to appear at the Old Bailey in March, anyone know how we find out what date? Weren't other detained suspects due for hearings in March?

Essex lorry deaths: Co Down man to challenge extradition

Such a scandal. He is a dual Irish / UK citizen too. Not sure why he can't be forced to appear in the UK without all this rigmarole. And the wonder remains: who is paying for his legal fees? And why aren't the people whose names are redacted also facing questioning?

Murky water.

This is so difficult to follow with all the secrecy. Jmo

The rules for naming people arrested are different in Ireland.

I am pretty sure the withheld names are the Bros Hughes.

But it is a mystery that they remain at large.

RH rented the trailer. They own at least two of the lorries involved in all this. RH was in Essex at the time, buying PAYG phones, being called by MR, calling the police to find out how much they knew...

And another one!
A 37 Romanian lorry driver from Birmingham.
Charged at Basildon Court this morning.

I can't find any reference to the appearances of MR and CK at the Old Bailey today, though. Anyone else have better luck?

So, Mo R, and C Kennedy
Then the 3 drivers arrested recently, Nica , Hanga and now Calota
The unnamed 22 year old arrested in NI Mid Feb
The unnanmed Dalston Man
The unnamed Stansted Man
And E Harrison pending extradition appeal

Migrant lorry deaths 'tragedy on a large scale'

Area coroner Lincoln Brookes adjourned the inquests while criminal proceedings take place.
10 of them teenagers. They must, all of the 39, have been so frightened when people started to die.

It has to stop. These big lorries and trailers are so expensive. Already equipped and monitored with dash cams, driver facing cams, telemetrics, tachographs , the tracker on the trailer etc. What would it take to put a camera on the door of trailers and one inside? Such a small expense, comparatively, and could stop these deaths as well as unlawful immigration.

Thanks for keeping this case updated and relevant. I'm so distracted right now, but I appreciate your efforts!

Maurice Robinson has pleaded GUILTY to 39 counts of manslaughter in relation to the bodies found in a container in Grays, Essex last October. Gheorghe Nica (joint British/Romanian national) has pleaded NOT GUILTY to the same offences - at a videolink hearing at Old Bailey this pm

Driver admits killing 39 people found in refrigerated lorry in Essex | Metro News

Five men charged following an investigation by Essex Police appeared for a virtual hearing at the Old Bailey before Mr Justice Sweeney. Robinson had previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration and acquiring criminal property. He denied a further charge of transferring criminal property. Robinson appeared at court via video link alongside four other co-defendants. British Romanian Gheorghe Nica, 43, of Mimosa Close in Langdon Hills, denied 39 counts of manslaughter. He also denied one count of conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration between May 1 2018 and October 24 2019. Romanian national Alexandru-Ovidiu Hanga, 27, of Tilbury, denied a charge of conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration. Christopher Kennedy, 23, of Darkley, Co Armagh, Northern Ireland, has previously denied conspiracy to assist unlawful immigration Valentin Calota, 37, of Birmingham, was not asked to enter a plea to the charge of conspiring to assist unlawful immigration. Prosecutor William Emlyn Jones QC said a human trafficking conspiracy charge was being dropped in relation to Kennedy and Robinson. He asked for three weeks to decide whether to proceed with a trial against Robinson on the outstanding charge he faced. The other defendants face a trial at the Old Bailey lasting up to eight weeks from October 5.

Well. At least Mo did the right thing. Jmo

I agree. Unlike the driver who delivered the trailer to the ferry, and is resisting extradition to even answer questions.

Given the notable silence from and about the Hughes brothers it occurs to me that by pleading guilty, Mo has avoided much evidence being exposed in open court. Harrison's evidence is protected behind his hardworking barrister... In whose interest is it that so much evidence is kept quiet? Who is afraid to answer questions in open court?

There is someone much more powerful at work than these young drivers.
