It is Robin, weather really bad in the UK today and obviously in the mountains its worse. This is an elite fell runner that has gone missing, i would of thought he would of had some GPS strava system. U can find a list of bothys in Scotland, i will do some research 2 see how far they are away from his location. Hopefully hes found 1 and is waiting for help. Some bothys have food, fire etc so survivable for a few days.

Thank you for that information. I really hope he's found one of them too. Yeah, we've been getting so many storms these past few days and like you said, it'll be so much worse there.

The beautiful gorton bothy is about 10 km from one of the munros mentioned on his running route. It does say its closed due to Covid, but bothies are mountain shelters for emergency and the ones i have stayed at are not locked. Rannoch Forest doesnt look far away so he cud of sheltered there. Ofcourse the concern for Chris is he has had an accident and is need of urgent help.

Family 'desperate' over missing Team GB runner Chris Smith

Mr Smith, who is originally from Aberdeenshire, now lives in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, where he is a member of Thames Valley Harriers.

He was on holiday with his wife and sons when he went missing.

[...]

Search teams have been focusing around the walking route Mr Smith had planned to follow, encompassing four Munros - Meall nan Aighean, Carn Mairg, Meall Garbh and Carn Gorm.

Police Scotland said they have been working in close partnership with local mountain rescue teams, with the ongoing assistance of the Coastguard helicopter.

Mr Smith has represented Great Britain in international mountain running competitions and in 2016 helped Team GB win bronze in the European Mountain Running Championships in Italy.
