Claudia Lawrence investigation
http://www.northyorkshire.police.uk/13147

It is now six years since Claudia Lawrence disappeared without trace in York. Despite the intensive efforts of the police, the resolve of her heart-broken family and saturated media coverage, her sudden disappearance remains a mystery.

North Yorkshire Police's commitment and determination to solve the case and bring closure for Claudia's loved-ones, is undiminished by the passage of time.

Detective Superintendent Dai Malyn, head of the force's enhanced Major Crime Unit, is leading a comprehensive review of the original investigation.

This has been supported by national experts from other forces and agencies, including forensic specialists who recently completed a re-examination of Claudia's home on Heworth Road in York.

As a result of this work, Det Supt Malyn and his team have identified new lines of enquiry and fresh public appeals to pursue, as well as renewed appeals on previous key items of interest to the investigation.

Detective Chief Superintendent Simon Mason, Head of Crime for North Yorkshire Police, said: "The decision to focus and prioritise the efforts of the enhanced Major Crime Unit on this case and undertake a comprehensive review of the original investigation, is producing progressive results which we expect to continue over time."

Wow. Just seen this on BBC news so thought I'd end my 6 month exile to see what's going on.

BBC correspondent on the report just said on his report "after all this time this feels significant" so perhaps he's been tipped off behind the scenes it's more than just a random search. For the surviving Lawrence families sake let's hope so.

Would love to know who or what has tipped the police off as seems a bit away from the Uni? Sure they'll be some interesting theories in the other thread so looking forward to reading them over next hour!

Just nice to have a development after a few years.

For those of you who didnt see Ruth's post earlier it is rumoured that an environmental serach on this site last week is what triggered off these latest events. In other words it seems to be by luck rather than a tip off. What they found we dont know although for so much attention to be courted now cant help but wonder if they did find remains and are delaying an announcement pending searches for evidence/dna etc. possibly even hoping for a confession or others that know to come forward if the net is closing in the next few hours?.
Out of interest i dont know the york area at all - so a question please....when NYP said a few years ago her phone was active ie on within a location and then delberately switched off within x radius would this search location fall within this- i assume so just checking?

@Officer Dibble the bridle pathway from the road is very wide, just the tree coverage doesn’t show the path in the photo or for that matter the road
Added a photo from york mix- you can see the police van on the road at the rear.

Just looked at location on map.....it's a good few miles from York. Dosen't seem the sort of location anyone living there would have incredible knowledge of and more points to one of the theories on here from time to time the perp(s) would perhaps have Malton connections instead.

Tradesman, 55, quizzed over missing chef Claudia Lawrence says 'misunderstanding' made him a suspect | Daily Mail Online

In my opinion I’d say she’s travelled there in a car. You can piece some of the evidence together if they find her here. It’s not likely she was put there in broad daylight - I think more likely at night. Her phone stayed close to her home unit 10am on the 19th - her phone was switched off at 12.10pm on the 19th according to
Police sources. It’s not safe to say her phone was with her when it was switched off.

I have looked at people I believe have knowledge of her disappearance based on research and studying them over the period I’ve been interested in the case - I can see them reacting differently over the last 6/7 hours so I think the police are on to something significant.
