Derek Brant, 62, was last seen in Cowley last Thursday and was reported missing by his family the following day.

Derek is a much-loved member of the maintenance team at St Anne’s and has been a familiar face around the College grounds for many years. We are extremely concerned about him and have been in close contact with his family since his disappearance last Thursday. Derek had recently been experiencing some episodes of confusion, so we are particularly anxious that he may have become lost or encountered difficulties.

The maintenance team, as well as many other College staff, are desperate to have Derek back safe and well. We have tried to assist his family as much as we can, circulating Derek’s details and walking routes he may have used. Derek regularly walked much of his route to work and was frequently seen on the Banbury Road and Woodstock Road between Oxford and Kidlington. We now appeal to the people of Oxfordshire to keep an eye out for Derek, in this area and elsewhere, to help the family find Derek quickly.

What we know about the missing 63-year-old man from Kidlington

THE niece of a missing man has appealed for help after he was last seen two weeks ago.

Derek Brant, from Kidlington, was reported missing on July 23.

The last confirmed sighting of the 63-year-old was on July 24 at about 3pm near St Anne’s College, Woodstock Road.

His niece, Sadie, said: “With the community in Summertown and Kidlington knowing Derek so well, we as a very worried family are urging the public to come forward with any sightings over the past two weeks. We need to get Derek home safely and back to St Anne’s College where he most loves to be.”

DCI Kelly Glister added: “It has now been two weeks since Derek was last seen on Saturday, July 24. Officers are continuing with extensive searches of the local area, including the local waterways.

“I would like to extend my thanks to Oxfordshire Lowland Search and Rescue who have been and continue to assist with these searches. I would also like to thank everyone who has come forward with information so far.

“However insignificant you believe the information may be, it can be really helpful to us. All reports made to us, whether that be a sighting or general information, is followed up as a matter of urgency.

“It is possible that Derek has been sleeping outside and may look unkempt. We also know that Derek can often be found in the local community assisting with litter picking and so we would ask people to please keep an eye out if you see anyone matching his description litter picking in Kidlington, Summertown or the surrounding areas.

“We continue to appeal to the public to come forward with any information that you may have.

“Please check CCTV or dash cam footage that you may have in case it has captured Derek.

“I’d also please urge people to check cars, sheds, outhouses and their gardens as well as other places of shelter in case Derek has been staying there overnight.

“If anyone sees Derek please call 101 immediately, quoting reference 43210328398, or if they have information about an earlier sighting please call the same number.”

Niece appeals after missing man last seen two weeks ago

Do they think he might have left the area to an old place he longed for, like an old home or a vacation spot?

The sentence from his college above -
"Derek had recently been experiencing some episodes of confusion" - is indicative, I think.

Two weeks is a long time without any sighting.

Police still appealing for information about missing Kidlington man

I wonder whether the last sighting, near St Anne' was taken from CCTV?
There's CCTV in Summertown and the route from St Annes, through Summertown and onto Kidlington is an urban area and has lots of CCTV and possibly bus cam and door cam footage.

I'd certainly be checking University Parks and the River Cherwell which is so close.:(
