Man charged with wife's murder as police name woman who died in Chessington
A man charged with murder after a woman died at a residential address is the husband of the deceased, Metropolitan Police have confirmed.
Keith Bettison has been charged with the murder of his wife Ildiko in Chessington.
The 71-year-old of Ranyard Close, Chessington, was charged on Saturday (October 31).
He is due to appear at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Monday (November 2).
A murder investigation was launched after Ildiko Bettison, aged 48, was found fatally injured at an address in Raynard Close shortly after 1am on Saturday (October 31).
Officers and London Ambulance Service (LAS) attended, however despite their best efforts, the 48-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Superintendent Richard Smith said on Saturday (October 31): “Firstly, my thoughts are with the woman who has lost her life and her friends and family.
“This is being treated as an isolated incident and we don’t believe there to be any wider risk to people living and working in the area.
“Local officers from our neighbourhood policing teams will be on duty throughout the weekend, working hard to keep the people of London safe.”
