Have you seen missing Judith?

Judith, who is 73, was last seen walking along Harcourt Road in Harrogate at around 10.30am yesterday morning (Saturday, 27 August) and has not been seen or heard from since.

CCTV cameras have seen Judith then turn right and walk in the direction of East Parade but we have been unable to trace her movements after this – could you have seen her in this area?

Officers are growing increasingly concerned for Judith as she requires daily medication and it is not believed she has this with her. She also only has a limited amount of cash.

Judith is described as white, thin with medium length white hair and was last seen wearing dark coloured trousers and a coat.

Anyone who can help locate Judith is asked to contact us as a matter of urgency.

Judith Holliday, who is 73 years old, was last seen on Saturday 27 August, and has not been seen or heard from since.

CCTV cameras captured Judith leaving her care home at 10.32am.

They have also captured her shortly after this time at Harrogate bus station.

The last confirmed sighting was at Library Gardens in Harrogate town centre at 10.43am on Saturday.

Specialist resources which include the operational support unit have spent the last few days searching for Judith. A police drone has also been used to allow officers to search large open areas around the Harrogate area.

Officers are growing increasingly concerned for Judith as she requires daily medication, and it’s believed that she doesn’t have this with her. She has a limited amount of cash and doesn’t have a mobile phone.

Judith is described as white, thin build, approximately 5ft in height, with medium length grey bobbed hair. Judith was last seen wearing dark coloured trousers and a coat.

Judith Holliday was last seen on Saturday, August 27, in Harrogate town centre around 10.43am. She was seen at Library Gardens.

CCTV cameras also show her leaving her care home residency at 10.32am - she has not returned since. They have also captured her shortly after this time at Harrogate bus station.

Judith takes daily medication and it is believed she does not have this with her, nor a mobile phone, and has limited cash. Police are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare.

Police are today continuing to search for missing 73-year-old woman Judith Holliday as officers are 'extremely concerned' for her welfare.

Judith has been missing since Saturday morning (August 27) after leaving her care home in Harrogate.

A member of the public in Wetherby reported a sighting of Judith to police yesterday and officers are currently carrying out enquiries in the town.
Searches are also continuing in rural areas around Harrogate, including the use of a police drone to allow officers to cover large open space.

Last weekend we asked for your support in the search for missing 73 year-old Judith Holliday from Harrogate.

We've had an amazing response to the appeal with thousands of shares and comments but unfortunately Judith has still not been located.

Today we're releasing a new photo of Judith wearing a distinctive blue jacket which we believe she is likely to be wearing.

The last confirmed sighting of Judith was in the village of North Rigton, on Saturday afternoon (27 August 2022).

It’s believed that she left Harrogate by bus, and then flagged down a member of the public and asked for a lift to North Rigton.

Judith has links to Wetherby and sightings have been reported in Wetherby, Knaresborough, Otley and Ilkley.

Our search operation continues with many officers involved and specialist resources being used to leave no stone unturned.

And here's a reminder of Judith's appearance - she is of a thin build, approximately 5ft in height with medium length grey hair.

As many people will be out and about over the weekend, please keep your eyes peeled for Judith and let's bring her home safely.

A week on from the last confirmed sighting of missing Harrogate woman Judith Holliday, her family says they hope this weekend will bring the right result in their quest to get her home.

Judith, 73, was last seen on Saturday, August 27, when police believe she got a bus from Harrogate before flagging down a lift to North Rigton.

Speaking to the Stray Ferret, her niece Lucinda Edwards said she wanted people to understand Judith as a person and to help ensure she was brought back to her family.

Judith grew up in Harrogate, attending the former Belmont Birklands school. Lucinda said she loves visiting Bettys, as well as going out into the countryside, to places like Fewston and Swinsty reservoirs, for picnics and birdwatching.

She said:
“Judith has a condition which presents like vascular dementia.
“She has fluctuating capacity – she can get a bit confused, but often, she will come across as being as sharp as a tack.
“She can point out family homes from years ago in the villages around here, but her short-term memory is much more of a problem.
“When she gets tired, she gets more confused.”

Judith left the care home where she lives around 10.30am on Saturday, saying she was going to visit Lucinda, who lives nearby. However, she never arrived.

Lucinda said:

“We’ve had potential sightings at Crimple, in the Saints area, Wetherby, North Rigton, other villages towards West Yorkshire – all on separate days.
“She can’t be everywhere, so we have to verify all of these to be sure they were her. That’s why CCTV is so important.
“We don’t want people to stop looking and reporting possible sightings, but we need evidence. We need to work smartly.”

The response from the community to Judith’s disappearance has been encouraging to her family. Many people have shared social media posts about her, while local businesses have put up posters to raise awareness.

Posters are also available to take from Jarfull, Porters and Sligsby’s coffee shop in central Harrogate, as the family hope they can cover a wider area with help from the public. Lucinda said:

“We’ve had amazing help. Harrogate is full of really good people and really nice business owners.
“I’m blessed with really good family and friends who know we’re going through a really hard time and are rallying.”

I wouldn't necessarily believe these sightings either, unless backed up with CCTV. It's getting a long time out alone now for a woman of her age and mental difficulties.
 
The search for missing Harrogate woman Judith Holliday is once again focusing on North Rigton after a possible sighting on a bus to Ripon was ruled out.

Judith, 73, was last seen on Saturday, August 27, when she left her care home in Harrogate and walked to the bus station and Library Gardens.

A further sighting the same day in North Rigton has been confirmed by North Yorkshire Police.

Another sighting was reported on September 1 by a passenger on a bus to Ripon but this was ruled out today.

That's so weird, I think she may have got off the bus the next stop from where Jesus Moreno got off if she then hitched a lift to North Rigton. I don't see any way the two cases could be connected, it's just really odd. As far as I know that area isn't a hotspot for missing persons.
 
Family of missing Judith appeal for help

Today we've continued our searches to find missing Judith Holliday who is 73-years-old.

Judith was last seen 10 days ago in the village of North Rigton near Harrogate.

Lucinda Edwards, Judith’s niece, today thanked the community for their support:

“We’re so grateful for the level of support our community has shown in our mission to locate Judith.

“Judith and anyone living with an illness like hers deserves to have this level of support and awareness to keep them safe.”

Judith left her care home on Harcourt Road in Harrogate at 10.32am on Saturday 27 August 2022. She was then captured on CCTV at Harrogate Bus Station and then in Library Gardens at 10.43am.

It’s believed that Judith caught a bus out of Harrogate and then flagged down a member of public and asked for a lift to North Rigton. The last confirmed sighting of Judith was in North Rigton.

Judith has dementia and requires medication, however she often presents fit and well.

Today our operational support unit used a police drone to allow them to search large open areas around Almscliffe Crag and Lindley Wood Reservoir.

Officers are now asking anyone who was in North Rigton between 1.30pm and 3pm on Saturday 27 August to check any dashcam or camera footage to see if it has captured Judith.

Judith was last seen wearing a distinctive blue jacket, she is described as a white female, thin build, approximately 5ft in height, with medium length grey hair.

Critical Incident Inspector Phoebe Southall commented:

“I also would like to thank the public for their assistance so far with the enquires to find Judith.

“Please continue to support our search by checking dashcam and video footage and remaining vigilant.

"Please also check any outbuildings or sheltered areas.

“Any immediate sightings of Judith should be reported to 999.

“If you have any dashcam or video footage of Judith or information that could assist the investigation then please call us on 101. “

Bad news although not unexpected:

Tragic update as police confirm body found in search for missing pensioner

Police searching for a missing 73-year-old woman have found a body near to a railway.

The body was found in searches for missing Judith Holliday who was last seen 14 days ago in the village of North Rigton near Harrogate.

A report was made at 12.22pm today (Saturday, September 10) and the railway was closed as a result.
Road closures were also put in place while emergency services worked at the scene.
Due to the location of the body, British Transport is leading the investigation and will work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the death.
Although no formal identification has taken place, the 73-year-old’s family have been made aware and are currently being supported by police.

Ms Holliday had been missing since Saturday, August 27 and extensive multi-agency searches have been carried out in the effort to find her.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said: “We thank everyone who has supported the missing person inquiry.
“Our thoughts are with Judith’s family.”
Before the body was found today, Lucinda Edwards, Judith’s niece, thanked the community for their support in helping search for her.

She said: “We’re so grateful for the level of support our community has shown in our mission to locate Judith.

“Judith and anyone living with an illness like hers deserves to have this level of support and awareness to keep them safe.”
