The fundraising page to raise money for Karen's family's expenses at this awful time, has reached its target within a few hours.
A nice reminder that there is far more good in the world, than evil.
I'm sure the Police would be putting them up in a hotel right now and when they do fly back to Cork Aer Lingus wouldn't take a penny from them - they can be very compassionate in these circumstances -but her parents will need to pay their bills, they've not been able to earn income and maybe won't be able to work for a long while. They'll be looked after well though I'm confident of that.

Am hearing chemicals on Glasgow forums as well but it could just be a theory.

I know they mean well but I find all these people on twitter posting tonight that they hope she is found safe and well to be a bit inconsiderate. Given the police behaviour I think it is long past the stage of believing she will be found unharmed. I think I read websleuths far too much.

Or maybe she was trying to 'shake him off' if he'd been bothering her in the club. Perhaps she was pretending to go home and started walking away, and was intending on going back into the club once he had gone, but he cornered her?

The media have said she was following him on the CCTV. As a female in my mid-twenties, I've endured multiple idiots bothering me in clubs - my priority is always to minimise harm to myself and the best way of doing this is to stay within close proximity to other people where there are 'officials' ie club security, bar people who can throw him out etc. The last thing I'd think of doing is leaving the club alone and pretending to walk home, because if someone is really intent on giving you a hard time then you've just made their life a hell of a lot easier by getting rid of witnesses and a safe environment. I'm not saying everybody follows the same logic as I do but it just doesn't seem to make sense.

Hi all, I've never posted on this forum before but been an avid reader for a while.

There is a thread regarding this case on an Irish forum that I also follow. That thread contains information received from Karen's housemates that will shed light on some of the issues being discussed here. I don't know if I can post this information as obviously it's hearsay and I don't want to break any rules. Could someone let me know what the protocol is on Websleuths for situations like this?

Aside from that I agree with many posting here who have a bad feeling about this case. I'm a 24 year old Irish girl who's been vulnerable on nights out and I have been very lucky to not have harm come to me. I can't stop thinking about Karen and she is in my prayers as I head to bed tonight.

I think you can paraphrase what has been said and say what forum it came from (same as we are allowed to do with Facebook). Someone correct me if that isn't the case!

You can give us the name of the forum, but you can't link to it. Is it politics.ie?

I'm not entirely sure, best bet is to PM a mod and ask. I've known some to be allowed but I think it's at the discretion of Admin.

Thank you! The information is slightly out of date now with the developments regarding the search of the farm and detention of AP but some items are still being discussed here so I will paraphrase what was posted tonight on boards.ie

Basically Karen leaving without her jacket seems to be a bit of a red herring. There were no personal items in the jacket and her friend was wearing it on the dancefloor. It seems the nightclub was very busy that night and Karen may not have been able to find her friends after going to the bathroom and decided to leave without the coat.

Her friends and housemates who she was out with were much more concerned over her not replying to calls and texts that night than leaving without her coat.

Her friends were very surprised when the police revealed that they believed Karen had left voluntarily with AP. They said they were shocked by the announcement. (Obviously we now know that may have been released for other reasons than being a credible line of investigation). They describe this as being very out of character for her.

They said Karen did not take taxi rides ALONE due to a previous bad experience. They didn't explicitly say this but it seems to me from that, that she would take taxis in a group I guess. They also said she would not walk home alone either.

However the girls are very happy with the police's handling of the case and have confidence in them. They do feel they are not being told the whole story yet though and information is being withheld at the moment. They hope the case will be resolved soon, and they still hold hope.

I hope this is ok to post, please remove it if not.

That bit stands out. Did she leave with him as has been reported ....... or was she simply seen on cctv talking to him as she walked towards the direction of her home (which I think was nearby), and just assumed that he would walk off in his direction before long?

Or was she seen simply walking behind him - and the police had to make the suspect think he wasn't a suspect so described things in a way which would leave him happy to talk?

I'm wondering about his mum's comments to the media that other people had seen Karen leave his flat. Is that what he told her, or will mum be in trouble for possibly covering up?

Her home is totally in the opposite direction. If you wanted to flag a taxi you'd walk towards the city centre not away from it. I think based what the police said about the cctv at Sanctuary she walked towards Church street willingly with him - getting in his car may have been willing, maybe not.

He doesn't live with his mum so I'm guessing all she knows is what he told her.

Poor Karen, I've done some silly things when I've had a drink, walked home miles when drunk /got chatting to strangers you never think it could happen to you. Praying she is okay but I think sadly she has been murdered by AP another one that couldn't take no for an answer.

The mum could have been confused between the report of Karen being seen leaving Sanctuary on cctv and being seen leaving at 4am - plenty of people on websleuths were. Giving a statement to a tabloid isn't covering up a police investigation so I don't think she would get into trouble for that.

Plenty of mums have helped cover up things for their children so there is always a chance she helped him out sunday or monday. I'm sure it will come out eventually if she did anything untoward.

I think half of England and all of Scotland and Ireland are up late tonight, hoping for Karen to be found.

I think so too, I don't want to go to sleep because I'm afraid I'll wake up to the news we've all been dreading

I think they've found her already, at 5pm, at the farm. They're just doing the decent thing and not reporting it until her brothers can be told in person.

I was up late last night too! This must be absolute torture for her family.

I'm so disgusted with this breed of young men that feel "entitled" to any woman they wish, then discard her remains like trash. In these cases I hear "well maybe something happened and he panicked" No. Well yes, something DID happened all right. A spoiled, sick, person felt entitled to a beautiful young lady that was out enjoying her life, and he took it, her life. A life that didn't matter to him. It was more important to him to gratify himself at that moment in time. I'm sorry to rant but I am storming mad and deeply sick of hearing these terrible stories. This young lady was beautiful. This young lady had her whole life ahead of her. [emoji20] JMO. I will go back to lurking now.

Really sorry to wake up to these developments. I had my suspicions this morning that he would soon be a suspect. It looks like the fire brigade are possibly draining the big blue cylindar slurry pit you see in farms. Has anyone managed to find it on google maps I would be interested to see the layout of the place?

Thank you to all of you for your posts and updates they are much appreciated.

Here is a link to the recent Daily Record article sorry if already posted.

"Police investigating the disappearance of Karen Buckley have been joined by a number of fire service personnel in their search at a farm outside Glasgow.

The fire engines and police vehicles were seen in the Stirlingshire countryside after officers shifted their focus from a park in the city to a site several miles away

Officers were seen searching the city's Dawsholme Park and later cordoned off land near High Craigton farm and Windyhill Golf Club on a country road between Glasgow and Drymen.

One of the fire service vehicles is an Environmental Protection Unit, which provides specialist equipment to deal with incidents involving hazardous chemicals, larger incidents involving the use of breathing apparatus and environmental contamination.

A Police Scotland Emergency Planning Section vehicle, perhaps a mobile control room, was also seen entering the site."

Seriously? I am not sure about this...some media would grab into the news. A coroner would have to come to the scene. Etc...jmo

I looked on Google Earth at High Craigton Farm Co Ltd and it doesn't look like there is a blue slurry cylindar or even a pond. Maybe the fire brigade are there because of the animal waste at the animal enclosure and they are searching through that for evidence. It definitely looks like a working farm with animals. There are some properties and a large one with tennis court.

There's also a possibility police want to keep the news from the suspect for the moment as well? They may be hoping he'll let something slip about Karen's location that has not been made public yet, and incriminate himself.
