Laurel Aldridge has been missing since yesterday morning after leaving the home she shares with her husband in Walberton, near Arundel.

Laurel’s son-in-law Charlie Wheeler said they are worried the mum of three, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment, might be experiencing a mental health episode.

Laurel, who often takes her dogs out for walks, left the house with no keys, did not take her car and did not take her pets.

She did not let anyone know she was going out or where she would be going.

Sussex Police are searching for Laurel and a coastguard team and helicopter went out last night to look for her, but to no avail.

“She left the house at 7.20 yesterday morning,” said Mr Wheeler.

“We saw her on the Ring doorbell and all she had was warm clothes on her.

“She had a jumper, a jacket, a hat and some walking boots.

“But she didn’t have any keys, she didn’t have any cards, she didn’t take the car, she didn’t take her dogs and she’s just vanished.

“We don’t know where she’s gone.

“She’s currently undergoing chemo treatment and we’re worried she might be having some sort of mental health episode.”

The force said Ms Aldridge, 62, may have travelled as far north as Bignor Hill.

Speaking to ITV, Crook said the disappearance of his sister-in-law, who is undergoing chemotherapy, was "very out of character".

He said extensive searches were taking place and urged people to look in their back gardens and other places where she may have sought refuge.

"She left her house early Tuesday morning and she's not been seen since," he told ITV.

"That's in the Walberton area where a lot of people are looking in the local woodlands along the roads and stuff like that.

"I'd really like to appeal to people to go out into their back gardens and have a look in places where she she might have taken rest.

"She's been missing out for three nights - we're entering the fourth one now (so), we're obviously really worried.

"If I could appeal to everyone, even if they checked before, check again in likely places where she might have crept in to lay down for the night."

The son of a woman who has gone missing in West Sussex has described her disappearance as "like a nightmare".

Laurel Aldridge, 62, has not been seen since 07:20 GMT on 14 February, when she left her home in Walberton, near Arundel.

Her brother-in-law, actor Mackenzie Crook, has been helping in the search.

Her family believe she is still in the area and her son, Matthew Aldridge, appealed for people to check sheds, outbuildings and doorbell footage.

"It is terrible, it's like a nightmare, in a way we're waiting to wake up from it," he said, "but we've got each other and we've received a lot of love and support from the wider community and that's really helping us get through.

"We're continuing to look in the local woodlands and fields. She loved nature so we think that's perhaps where she's gone."

Ms Aldridge is receiving chemotherapy, which Mr Aldridge said "adds to the urgency" of the search, and he believes could be the reason for her disappearance.

He said: "We think that having chemotherapy is a huge stress and this might have triggered a lapse in her mental health."

''Describing his sister-in-law as a "keen walker", Crook described the search as "bleak" and like finding a "needle in a haystack".

''With one reported sighting placing Mrs Aldridge near Slindon Cricket Club on the day of her disappearance, police are now urging members of the public who may have been in the area on the day to check doorbell, CCTV and dash-cam footage.''

Crook, originally from Dartford, Kent, spoke publicly on Friday as he believed his sister-in-law was still in the Walberton area.

Mrs Aldridge measures 5’4” and has grey/blonde highlighted hair and wears glasses on occasion.

Anyone with information should contact Sussex Police or alternatively call 101.''

It's a densely populated area with quite a few major roads mentioned. Someone must have seen her or have dashcam footage of LA.
Have Police checked Bluebells Wood I wonder? She was seen near Slindon Cricket Club on the day she disappeared (as per article linked above) one would think the woods, close to the Cricket club would be worth looking at.

The Office star Mackenzie Crook has issued another desperate plea to track down his sister-in-law who went missing a week ago after skipping a chemotherapy session.

Since her disappearance, Mr Crook - who is best known for roles in The Office, Pirates Of The Caribbean and Worzel Gummidge - has called for the public to keep an eye out for her in the West Sussex area.

Speaking today he said: 'She left the house with nothing but what she was wearing, with no keys and no phone. She has not been seen since.

'She missed her fifth chemo session last Tuesday and we think that is what has triggered some sort of crisis in her and she has gone off for a long walk somewhere.

'We are really clutching at straws now after a week,' he told ITV's Good Morning Britain.

Possible that the ‘crisis’ came before the missed chemo appt and not the other way round as suggested.
I wonder if it’s unusual that she didn’t take phone or keys on her walk? Possibly because this has been mentioned she normally would have.
