A father has been charged with murdering his 19-year-old daughter who died after she was hit by a car.

Police were called to Leete Way in West Winch, Norfolk, just before 19:30 GMT on Sunday following reports of a disturbance in the street.

Norfolk Police said Lauren Malt was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King's Lynn but died soon after.

Her father, Nigel Malt, of Lynn Road, King's Lynn, has been remanded in police custody

Mr Malt was arrested at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on suspicion of murder, causing death by dangerous driving and drink driving, police said.

A man will stand trial this summer for the murder of his daughter, who died after being hit by a car.

Lauren Malt, 19, died following the collision in West Winch in west Norfolk on Sunday night.

Her father Nigel Malt, of Lynn Road, West Winch, appeared at Norwich Crown Court on Thursday where he was remanded in custody. A plea and trial preparation hearing will take place on 1 April and a provisional trial date was set for 27 June.

Nigel Malt, 44, of Lynn Road, King’s Lynn, Norfolk, pleaded not guilty to the murder of Lauren Malt when he appeared before Norwich Crown Court on Friday.

Malt was remanded in custody ahead of his trial, which will start on 27 June and is expected to last two weeks.

From last week:

Malt, of Lynn Road, King's Lynn, was due to go on trial at Norwich Crown Court on Monday (June 27).

But following a pre-trial review on Thursday (June 23) the case was re-listed for Wednesday, June 29.

Judge Anthony Bate granted the adjournment with the case to be listed for legal argument, and possibly the jury being sworn in, on Wednesday with the case expected to be opened on Thursday, June 30.

A jury panel of seven men and seven women were initially sworn in at Norwich Crown Court on Wednesday (June 29) with the case expected to be opened on Thursday (June 30).

Malt, of Lynn Road, King's Lynn, appeared in the dock, wearing a grey T-shirt and standing with a crutch, as the jury were sworn in.

He is represented by Allison Summers QC while Andrew Jackson appeared for the prosecution.

A court has been played audio of the moment a father allegedly reversed at speed into his teenage daughter - before killing her by driving over her again.

Lauren Malt, 19, died on 23 January after trying to protect her boyfriend from being attacked with a crowbar by her father outside her Norfolk home, a court heard.

Gosh reading that makes you realise how deliberate this was and not any sort of accident.
I'd rather believe it was a terrible accident, but his behaviour afterwards doesn't seem to fit with the shock you'd expect in him if it had been accidental. Picking her up and taking her to his ex wife instead of waiting for an ambulance?
