:(

”Chief Inspector Stephen Roberts of North Wales Police said: “Tomorrow (Friday) Lucy will have been missing for two weeks.

It has been a particularly difficult time for Lucy’s family, especially given that we just had the Festive period.

… Since this time extensive searches have taken place which have led us to find personal items of Lucy’s on the bank of the River Dee close to the Severn Trent Water Treatment Works.

During the last two weeks we have carried out extensive enquiries and searches of both the river Dee and the local area.

… The River Dee is in a very dangerous state of flooding at this time and I would urge members of the public not to venture near the river.

Our searches continue; and Lucy’s family are being kept informed. Finally, my thoughts remain with Lucy’s family at this difficult time.

Anyone who may have information is asked to contact North Wales Police urgently via our website or by calling 101, quoting reference number 46914.”

Is there any explanation for why she is wearing the high vis vest? Where was she walking from and to?

It does suggest wanting to be seen and caring about the consequences of not being seen. One would think if you wanted to disappear, you wouldn’t put on an extra layer of high vis clothing. Similar if you were planning to self harm, would you want to draw attention to yourself? Would you care if drivers saw you in the dark?

And is anyone able to work out were the Severn Trent Treatment Works are? I’ve looked up and down the river and can’t seem to find the location they mean.

That's exactly what I spent 20 minutes doing this morning! My guess is that this is what they are referring to:

Link to Google Earth

I could be wrong, of course. It doesn't have the circular pits you would normally associate with a treatment works, but it does seem to have an outflow to the river. I will happily stand corrected.

I've found this - if you look on the aerial view, there is a building , along Waterworks Road, close to the River Dee.

Would possibly fit with Lucy crossing over the bridge by the Royal Oak ?

I would think she is in the river and will be found once the flood waters subside eventually. Can't think of any other explanation as to why her personal items would be found on the bank :(

I'm really struggling to get my head around all the recent reports of women disappearing near rivers. It's extremely strange and very sad.

I wonder what's happened to poor Lucy. As far as I can see the police haven't released details of what personal items have been found on the bank. I wonder what has been discovered and the location or positioning of the items. Were they scattered?

I also worry that she's somehow entered the water but can't quite understand how it unfolded. As a pervious poster says, she was wearing a high vis jacket which suggests she's risk adverse?

All very puzzling. Her poor family must be in bits not knowing.

From the Daily Mail :

A woman who went missing from a quiet village on the Welsh-English border just before Christmas probably fell to her death in a flood-swollen river, police fear.
Now it has emerged that their 'working hypothesis' is that Ms Charles fell into the River Dee accidentally on December 22 and was swept to her death.

The belongings indicate she did not enter the water deliberately, sources said today, and there are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances

I wonder why her belongings would indicate she didn't enter deliberately?
