Rebecca Watts was reported missing after not returning to her home in St George, Bristol.

Officers said it was "out of character" for her not to contact somebody if she had planned not to come home.

More officers were assigned to the investigation over the weekend. She is described as white, 5ft 4ins (1.6m) tall with long red hair.

It is thought she was wearing a blue puffa-style jacket on the day she went missing.

Missing Rebecca Watts' dad 'fears the worst' as he makes heartbreaking appeal for her to come home

The father of missing teenager Rebecca Watts has made a tearful plea for her return and said it is a "nightmare come true".

The 16-year-old went missing from the Crown Hill area of Bristol on Thursday last week and her dad says it is completely out of character for their "shy" and "introvert" daughter.

The fashion conscious teenager had not taken any clothes and make up, and had left her phone charger and purse at home.

Her family made a tearful appeal to ITV News.

Speaking from his home in St George, Bristol, her father Darren Galsworthy, 51, said: "Becky is introverted. She does not mix with big groups of people.

"She would not go and ask for anything or go to a till on her own - she was that kind of girl.

Urgent appeal for public to help us find Rebecca Watts
Added on 24 February 2015

“What we know is that she was last at her home address on Crown Hill, St George, Bristol, at about 11.15am last Thursday (19/02).

“We know she took her laptop and mobile phone with her – but no clothing or make-up. Nothing to suggest she would be away for several days.

“We are continuing to search the local area, concentrating on open spaces and park areas – this is a routine part of a missing persons search that we always undertake.

“This is to look for anything that Becky might have been dropped.

“We are continuing with our house to house enquiries and I would urge anyone in the local area who has yet to speak to officers to call us immediately.

Man and woman arrested on suspicion of Becky Watts murder

This afternoon, Detective Superintendent Mike Courtiour released the following statement regarding the search for missing teenager Rebecca Watts:

On Saturday afternoon we arrested two people in connection with the Becky Watts missing person investigation.

A 28 year old man and a 21 year old woman were arrested on Saturday on suspicion of the kidnap of Rebecca Watts. This afternoon, they have been further arrested on suspicion of the murder of Rebecca Watts

Both are still in police custody at this time.

This morning, a district judge granted us a warrant of further detention which gives us a further 36 hours to question these two individuals.

In the meantime, our search for Becky continues unabated.

We are drawing upon all possible resources to help us. Additional officers from Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Devon and Cornwall and police dogs from South Wales Police have been drafted in and support from the police helicopter.

Search and missing persons' experts from the National Crime Agency, College of Policing and the National Missing Persons organisations continue to work with our enquiry team.

We have extended our search parameters to include a house in Southmead and one in the Barton Hill area of Bristol. These are detailed, forensic searches which will take some time to complete.

We continue to carry out both open land searches and detailed house to house enquiries in the local area.

We have also conducted extensive CCTV enquiries and detailed analysis of traffic cameras in the area.

I would appeal once again for anyone who may have any information on this case to come forward immediately. Someone out there might have vital information which could help us find Becky.

This morning, we published an appeal for information from anyone who may have seen a black Vauxhall Zafira, registration number HY06 HYA, in the local area anytime between the morning of Thursday 19th February to Monday 23rd February.

We have seized this car but we need the public’s help in us tracing where it might have been during those key days.
