"Authorities said the evidence against 36-year-old Reynhard Sinaga indicates he had many more victims, with roughly 195 men apparently having been filmed while being abused when they were in his apartment. Many were unconscious at the time.

Judge Suzanne Goddard QC said in Manchester Crown Court the true number of Sinaga's victims may never be known.

“You are an evil serial sexual predator who has preyed upon young men who came into the city centre wanting nothing more than a good night out with their friends,” she said. “One of your victims described you as a monster. The scale and enormity of your offending confirms this as an accurate description.”
"Prosecutors say Sinaga had a non-threatening manner. He befriended young men, including many who were intoxicated after a night out, and offered them a place to stay at his apartment. He filmed many of the forced sexual encounters."
"His Manchester church offered a statement in support of his character that did not seem to sway the judge.

“It is almost beyond belief that someone who could profess some Christian faith could at the same time have been committing such wicked and evil crimes,” she said."

Just been reading about this, hadn’t heard of the case at all before so came searching.
Horrific for victims not to know then have that phone call ...
If you mean that the victims were informed by a phone call, that's not true. According to a BBC article, when the police identified a victim, they approached the person, and there were a crisis worker from St Mary's Sexual Assault Referral Centre accompanying the detectives on their visits, to be able to to offer support. As there are about 70 still unidentified victims, I would think those might have a more difficult time if they learn/realise that something happened to them from reading an article, or seeing something on tv. As they were drugged when it happened, they might have believed they had had nightmare, but now find out it was real.

So horrible and vile!!! I'm glad justice has come of this. Wishing all the good will to his victims.

Two of this monsters victims attempted suicide after they found out what had happened to them. I hope they all get access to the long term mental health support they will need and know that it is ok to ask for help.

What is killer drug GHB?
Jan 6 2020 rbbm.
"When Reynhard Sinaga took a victim back to his flat, he would drug them unconscious before launching his assault.

Following his conviction for 159 sex offences, Home Secretary Priti Patel called for a review of controls for drugs like GHB.

What is GHB?
Although it is sometimes referred to as a date rape drug, GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate) is actually used recreationally and consensually.

It is fairly common for gay men to use it during chemsex - when drugs are used to enhance sex between two or more partners - but it is also used by heterosexuals as a party drug.

But rapists use GHB as a weapon - one recent survey estimated more than a quarter of those polled were sexually assaulted whilst unconscious."

"Patrick Strudwick, BuzzFeed News' LGBT editor and presenter of the Channel 4 documentary Sex, Drugs and Murder, calls G "a rapist's weapon of choice in 2020".

"Because... it can be slipped into someone's drink without them knowing and because it can very easily lead to unconsciousness, it is therefore ripe for use by predators," he says.

An additional obstacle to knowing the scale of the problem is that victims often don't report it to the police, says Professor Winstock.

People can feel uncertain about what happened, and whether a crime occurred, he says, as well as shame, guilt and fear "of having to disclose information that they may find very embarrassing", he says"

"
@gmpolice
say they've had a number of calls from men who may have been victims of serial rapist Reynhard Sinaga. Sinaga was jailed for life yesterday for 159 assaults on 48 men. He filmed the assaults after drugging the men. Its thought there may be up to 70 more victims"

Party life of world's worst rapist whose 'very rich' family didn't know he's gay

Reynhard Sinaga

"But while living near Manchester's clubbing scene, Sinaga would watch as his targets - usually straight men - poured in and out of nearby bars Factory and Fifth Avenue.

And the rapist would prowl the streets outside the Manchester clubs in the early hours looking for lone, drunk men to attack.

He even played "Top Trumps" of people he raped by keeping screenshots of his victims' social media profiles after checking their IDs.

He also boasted of using his “secret poison” to make young, straight men “fall in love” with him.

In one chilling encounter captured on CCTV, he left his flat and returned with a victim just 60 seconds later."

"He was finally arrested after a hero rugby player battered him after he woke up naked to find Sinaga molesting him.

The teenager beat the predator so violently he left the rapist with a bleed on the brain and blood splattered around the flat."
Sinaga then spun a web of lies after being stretchered to hospital - meaning the victim, then aged 18, was arrested on suspicion of assault.

But the blundering rapist had accidentally left an iPhone 4 in the teen's back pocket containing gruesome videos of him attacking his drugged victims.

After he tried to "snatch" the mobile, which he had held in one hand while molesting the men, cops realised they were dealing with a sinister monster.

Police raced to twisted Sinaga's lair where they discovered another mobile - this time "propped to side” to capture rapes “in profile”.
Most of his victims had no clue they had been attacked. Only two already knew they had been raped when they were approached by police."

Police have been unable to identify 70 victims and it is believed dozens more could now come forward following his conviction.

Assistant Chief Constable Mabs Hussain of Greater Manchester Police urged anyone who believes they may have been a victim of Sinaga to come forward."

Horrifying story, thank goodness the police investigated beyond initial appearances or he might still be free now:

The man recalled nothing further until waking several hours later being sexually attacked by Sinaga.

He immediately pushed Sinaga away, who responded by screaming "intruder" and "help", before repeatedly biting the teenager.

The man hit Sinaga several times, escaped from the flat, and then called police, who arrived to a chaotic scene.

Sinaga, who was discovered semi-conscious with serious injuries, was at first viewed sympathetically, and the teenager was arrested for assault.

But Sinaga's behaviour in hospital began to arouse suspicion. He kept asking officers to have a mobile phone brought to him from his flat.

Police asked him to confirm the pin number before they would hand it over. However Sinaga gave a series of false numbers, then tried to grab the phone after providing the correct one.

The officer became so suspicious that he seized the phone as potential evidence and, when it was checked, a video recording was found of Sinaga raping the arrested teenager.

The sexual predator who waited outside nightclubs

I wonder how much of the sheer volume of crimes before being caught is down to common perceptions allowing him to get away with it - many women would be wary of entering a strange man's flat alone, but men wouldn't expect to become victims so wouldn't be on their guard against what looks like a small-built and non-threatening man. Plus even those who might have realised something was wrong afterwards would be less likely to report it, as male rape victims aren't commonly seen (I imagine it's more common than media coverage suggests but coverage is overwhelmingly of female victims and male perpetrators); perhaps the publicity of this case may make it easier for future victims to consider reporting things.

Those poor victims, I hope they all get the support they need, and those so far unidentified can bring themselves to come forward to someone to give them support too.

The parole people had better be on the ball when his sentence reaches its end and not let him out; it's clear he'll forever be a danger, I can't help thinking whole life sentences should be easier to hand out.

It's so frightening that many perps are just so normal looking, unthreatening, even very sweet and friendly outwardly.

Thankfully this guy was stupid enough to record all his attacks. How did he think he'll never be reported or confronted by his victims? Well he almost made it but thanks to one angry victim his luck finally ran out.

He used the same drug as this other monster from London, his name escapes me right now, who ended up killing several of his victims due to overdosing. Are they sure RS hasn't left any bodies somewhere? Hopefully the 70 unidentified rape victims have been cross-checked with missing persons reports.
