The man, thought to be aged between 40 and 60, was discovered at Lochan Na Craoibhe, near Glencoe and Rannoch Moor, at about 18:30 on Wednesday.
Officers recovered the body from the water in a remote area near Blackwater Reservoir, between Kingshouse on the A82 and Rannoch railway station.
They described the man as white with dark hair.
A post mortem examination will be carried out to establish the cause of death and a report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

When he was found, the man was wearing a blue lightweight Regatta waterproof jacket in size XL, a Pep&Co purple/mauve t-shirt with a graphic of palm trees in size XXL, and black size 10 Gelert walking boots.

Are any missing persons still unaccounted for in the Glencoe area?

There have been a number of bodies recovered over the past few months.

The lochan is not too far off the beaten track but it would have been a wet slog to get there.

Walked up that way a few times from the Kingshouse via the Black Corries.

Neil was last seen wearing a green jacket and grey trousers....so not him.
UK - UK - Neil Skinner, 72, last seen midday, camping close Loch Dochard, Scottish Highlands, 8 May 2022

Finn went missing wearing a brown leather jacket and had green wool poncho....so not him.

I believe there is still one outstanding missing person in the Glencoe area.

Car was left at the car park for the Three Sisters in the glen.

Sept-Oct 2021.

This was another person missing in the same area:

He may well fit. Although he is described as of 'slim build', whereas the body was wearing XL clothing.

Im trying to work out what routes or hills he may have been doing in that area. Any word of a pack being found? No mention of condition either,,was he in the water for long?

He may have been climbing Geàrr Leacann or other summits in the Black Corries.

Plus it's out of the way from where he parked.

STV news is the only news outlet that has the correct picture of Lochan Na Craoibhe.

All others have a generic image of Glen Coe which is 10 miles away as the crow flies.

"I’m also appealing for witnesses who may have been in the local area in the past week."

"Alternatively, if you have concerns about a male family member or friend who matches this description, and has not been in contact, then please let us know."

The police must believe whatever happened to him must have been within a week or less of him being found.
