Waves crashing on the seafront at Blackpool before Storm Dudley hits the north of England (PA)
Storm Eunice: Met Office issues most severe ‘red’ danger-to-life warning in rare move (yahoo.com)
''The Met Office has issued a rare red weather warning for wind, meaning it is very likely that the extreme weather will result in dangerous conditions as Storm Eunice hits.

The alert covers south Wales and a strip of coast in southwest England, including Hartland, Bristol, Cardiff and Swansea – and is in force on Friday from 7am until midday.

Meteorologists fear the high winds there – and across the rest of Wales and much of England – could endanger lives, tear roofs from houses and bring down power lines, while some rail operators have urged customers not to travel once the storm hits.

Forecasters have warned that gusts of up to 100mph are expected in coastal areas, while the wide spread of high winds in southern inland areas has been likened those seen during the infamous Burns Day Storm in 1990, which caused scores of fatalities and cut power to half a million homes.

Lesser warnings for wind and snow have also been issued in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the north of England, bringing the possibility of cancelled travel plans and rural communities becoming cut off.''

I’m in rural Lincs, it’s been windy here for a few days I’ve lost some roof tiles already.
It doesn’t look like we should get it too bad here, we have an amber warning.
Our local market has been cancelled tomorrow.
Stay safe everyone. Especially those in the south, south west.

Yes not too windy at present - blue-ish sky's.... calm before the storm maybe!
Storm Eunice has Bristol Port on 'red warning' alert as high winds and 'tidal surge' expected - Bristol Live (bristolpost.co.uk)
  • ''There is a good chance that flying debris could result in a danger to life
  • Damage to buildings and homes is likely, with roofs blown off and power lines brought down
  • Roads, bridges and railway lines are likely to close, with delays and cancellations to bus, train, ferry services and flights
  • There is a good chance that power cuts, possibly prolonged, could occur and possibly affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage
  • Large waves are likely and beach material is likely to be thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties
  • It is likely there will be falling branches and some uprooted trees''
  • Prepare a bag that includes medical and insurance documents
  • Check the latest flood situation online
  • Know how to turn off your gas, electricity and water
  • Check your insurance to make sure you are covered for flood damage. If you rent your home, it is your responsibility to have insurance for your belongings.
  • If you are flooded, call 999 if in immediate danger and follow advice from emergency services.''

I'm in the South West, awaiting confirmation if school will be closed tomorrow. Am also due to attend a funeral, not sure on the protocol for those when it advises you to stay home

I'd probably try and keep an eye on local news and weather. If there's trees falling along your route, or the potential for that or flash flooding, then stay home.

Noticing schools are announcing closures in North Devon now Luwin. Hope you will be a little more sheltered where you are.

I’m in Bucks, at the moment it’s sunny and windy, but 70mph forecast for mid morning.

Weird situation here near Leeds - top speeds of just 21mph forecast in my immediate area, but just 5 miles away it’s nearer 50mph and it looks like the airport will close. Could go either way for me tomorrow! I’ve put a few favourite garden things in the shed just in case!

Ughhh yesterday was already so windy in Bristol! At least it seemed like it, and the poor dog downstairs kept barking at the wind lol I’m on top of a hill so it’s very noticeable.

Our bedroom window is broken too and won’t be fixed till summer. It’s a big sash window with no lock, barely holding in place with foam stuffed all around. We put more foam in yesterday so it wouldn’t rattle but still. I’m worried it’s going to break, is that even possible?
