Perhaps mum and dad aren't mum or dad, DNA test can't confirm?

We don't have that information. WS is a US based Corp. It is the poster's responsibility to work within the laws of the area they are posting in - so if you are in the UK, you should aware of any limitations that country may impose on you.

I think you will find that is why most of us have the wording 'IMO' as part of our signature to cover that.

So your telling me nobody has to identify a body formally if its hot & been dead for more than 7 days ??

Of course a formal identification has to be done. A formal identification can be done in other ways besides a relative looking at them. In some cases such as in mass graves found years after the event, it is accepted to identify by the presence of personal possessions near the skeleton. Identification is considered done once the coroner finds it acceptable.

Need a DNA sample from one of the parents, and process is labour intensive/can take time unless a rush is put on it. This is why other methods are prefered.

could they not use her toothbrush or hairs from a hair brush?

Wouldn't falling down the stairs result in bruising? I guess many things could cause bruising.

Indeed, falling down the stairs may cause bruising but I've never heard of a child being smothered to death because they have fallen down some stairs. Although it is possible that the bruising and the smothering are unrelated.

Considering the poor child seemed to live on junk food it would not be surprising to find out that she bruised quite easily due to vitamin deficiency. All I've heard that she was given to eat was toast, sausage rolls, 3 "NobblyBobbly's", pizza and chips.

I've just been doing some research on Facebook. Someone who it appears that Tia knew and was possibly related to, commented on another friends page on Friday night about Tia being dead. Am I going mad - wasn't Tia confirmed dead on Saturday?

It appears from this information that The body was found on Friday night, not on Saturday as we thought. That's unless I'm getting confused and we did know a body had been found on Friday.

In the official guide to Coroners and Postmortems issued by the Ministry of Justice it states

"post-mortem examination is a medical examination of a body after the death. A coroner’s post-mortem examination is carried out for a coroner by a pathologist, a doctor who specialises in medical diagnosis, of the coroner’s choice, in order to establish the cause of death"

I think its looking more than likely it was halted in order to bring in another specialist

The body was found on Friday afternoon. Hazell was arrested a few hours later.

Yes the body was found on Friday afternoon

Not much time to go through so sorry if this has been posited/suggested before, but I just wondered about the 'gran' possibly having "an affair" with the neighbour, things go very wrong and pinning on SH...?

Thank you. I'mgetting confused because I've had some time off work. I was thinking it was Saturday when they confirmed they'd found the body but you are right. It wasn't. Ignore that comment then.

I suppose a post mortem could be delayed for 100's of reasons if necessary ?? The thought did cross my mind that they may be trying to link something from this case to another unsolved murder in the area ??

Maybe her body is too damaged to allow the family to identify her. I know sometimes they don't allow family members to identify the body if the condition of the body is too far gone, also, to save more pain for the family.

Yes, I think people are making far too much of all this. The body has been identified as Tia's, otherwise her name would not appear on the charge sheet. It is just formal identification that has not yet taken place which, as the term suggests, is just a formality.

As for the PM. We are not normally given a minute-by-minute account of the proceedings and for all I know a delay may not be that unusual. I also doubt that the media will be informed the second it's completed, so it may even be finished now.

By the way, I would expect that any pathologist used to working on crime victims would be familiar with the life cycles of the more common insects - it would be basic knowledge.

Possible scenario: (for whatever reason) Tia falls down the stairs (possibly during an argument) and then starts screaming, SH/G'ma (whomever) could have put their hand over her mouth to cover the noise, resulting in death.

No idea (obviously) if this is what happened but as I said earlier, so many possibilities, not necessarily as dramatic and unpleasant as others.

So, MODS - can we sleuth Paul Meehan now even though he was not charged w/ her murder but named in MSM?

lanie - I'm a bit behind here - can you link the MSM so I can have a quick look before I answer your question?

Thanks,

Salem

ETA: Who is Hazell that was apparently arrested?

So are you saying that the post mortem has been comlpeted but they dont want to tell anyone the results ??

Thanks Wfgodot!

Yes, he may be sleuthed now - in relations to the MSM articles. He has been arrested.

THURSDAY 2 AUGUST taken from evening standard timeline

EVENING: Tia’s grandmother Christine, 46, goes to work a night shift as a carer, leaving Tia at her house with Mr Hazell. In a television interview later (Aug 9) Mr Hazell described the events of the evening: "Did we have a meal? Yeah, because when we went to the Co-Op we bought these things - well, I bought them for Chris but then Tia ate them - three of these lollies, Nobbly Bobblys. She was going to eat the last one but I told her no, to leave it for her nan. Yeah, we had pizza and chips." He adds the two played on a PlayStation.

AFTERNOON: Stuart Hazell, the partner Tia Sharp's grandmother for five years, meets the schoolgirl in Croydon. The pair travel home together by tram.

If I remember correctly I thought that Tia's step father thought Tia was going to the shopping centre in Croydon and would be back there at 6pm.If that is so why change her plans and go to Grans -she did not appear to have a change of clothes with her.

When she appears used to travelling on her own to Grans why did SH go to meet her in Croydon.

Is it possible that she had in some way been blackmailing SH and she wanted some money for her shopping trip and got him to meet her in Croydon. He then told her she would have to come back to the house to get some money.

Was Gran in the house when they got back or had she already left for work?
