Forensics officers are scouring land beside the M4 near Swindon, Wiltshire after "old" bones were discovered on July 2.

But residents living in picturesque farming village Bradbury, close to the grisly find, fear a murderer who killed two young women may be to blame.

Taxi driver Halliwell is currently serving two life sentences in jail for killing Sian O’Callaghan, 22, and Becky Godden, 20.
---
Now locals say they're desperately worried the remains may belong to another of his victims.

A pensioner who has lived in a cottage in the village for 28 years said: “My daughter said she thought it could be linked to Christopher Halliwell because she often used to come by that bridge and there was a taxi parked there, and I have as well.

"She used to work at Tesco and go to work early in the morning and she saw the taxi parked up there.
---
Cops have not yet ruled out a link to local cold cases, and say detectives are keeping an "open mind".

However, they say there's "no suggestion" that there are any connections to Halliwell "at this early stage".
---
Police will remain at the site of the find in Swindon for perhaps weeks to come, Wiltshire Police chiefs confirmed.

A force spokesman said: "Specialist officers are currently conducting a meticulous search of the area to recover any relevant material before forensic scientific analysis is conducted.

"This sort of investigation can take a number of weeks however we will endeavour to provide updates where we can as this work continues.

I don't know about the murders but for a fact those are NOT all disappearances in that area. In below article some other cases are mentioned. Perhaps Linda is not on that police list as her husband has been arrested, even though her body was never found.

Linda Razzell

Linda disappeared on the 19 March 2002 after dropping her children off at school and driving into Swindon town centre where she worked at the college.

Her car was parked in its usual place in Alvescott Road, Swindon

Sandra Brewin, of Peatmoor, disappeared from her parents’ home in 1994 aged 21.

Her parents John and Nora believed their daughter’s problems began in June 1994 when she became penfriends with a man who was in prison in Oxfordshire.

Adam Wilmott went missing on September 27, 2011 – he was 36 years old and homeless at the time of his disappearance.

He often stayed at local hostels or with friends but he would always maintain contact with his family. Adam was last seen leaving the Great Western Hospital, Swindon.

There are probably some more disappearances in the wider area and definitely many more in nearby Gloucestershire to the north and some other county to the west which borders Swindon and is crossing the same M4 where this remains have been found..

It doesn’t even have to be someone from the immediate area. The M4 connects London to South-West Wales, and the remains were found near the junction of the A419 which further links to the M5.

I hope that ‘village gossip’ about it being one of CH’s supposed victims doesn’t overshadow the fact that whoever it is, it’s someone’s loved one.

Still nothing on the news or Police update. Surely by now the person would have been identified they were found on the 2nd July 2021.

Not necessarily - if they were in poor condition then it may take a little while. If the Halliwell timeframe estimation is correct, they've been out in the elements for over a decade.

Did anybody find out who it was? I remember another time the news said a body had been found near Swindon off the M4, and then I couldn't find out who it was. If there's a killer on the loose then people need to know.

I was told that they were plague victims. But the info came from Chris Halliwell's daughter. Make of that what you will.
